Guys is there any method to solve the pixelated texture on Mali GPUs? Seemingly the solution on SA (delete etc file and rename dxt file texture) doesn't work on VC, making all the texture crashed. I found an amazing patch to solve pixelated texture from:  GTA Vice City Texture Fix Patch for Android [Grand Theft Auto: Vice City] [Mods] (gamebanana.com) , but looks like this patch can't be used on the game purchased from Play Store, requiring users to download a hacked version from the Internet to get a modifiable APK.

 

And this patch may have a texture bug that the breakable glass wall of several stores in North Point Mall becomes non-transparent after patching (if this doesn't only happen on my Xiaomi device). I guess the author may mistakenly code the glass texture during the development, and he may not fix this bug for the patch is created many years ago. So is there any other way to fix the pixelated texture on VC? Or can anyone teach me how to find the patch's bug part which causing the non-transparency issue?

 

I am really eager for someone can help me, and let me say thanks to you!

@Kubigz Man thanks for your reply. However I used the patch you mentioned, the same problem still happens, maybe the patch authors we mentioned respectively are actually the same guy lol. 

I made a screenshot on my cellphone to show how the transparency bug looks like but I don't know how to upload a pic in a reply in this forum.

Could u plz check whether the non-transparent glass window happens on your device with the texture patch you mentioned above? The breakable glass windows of stores which the player should intimidate the owners for protection fee in mission "Shakedown" are now visually like solid cement.

Yes, I got non-transparent glass at Ammunation in Downtown and North Point Mall, but this is something I can live with.

Pixelated textures were more annoying to me, but now it's no longer a problem for me.

@Kubigz Well, anyway thank you for confirming this issue doesn't only emerge on my device. Hopefully one day someone or the patch developer can fix this texture bug. I think Rockstar and War Drum Studio should have prevented the pixelated texture bug annoying Mali GPU users, rather than leave this to voluntary programmers to clean up the mess for their laziness.  I have to say the guys who trying to make old generation GTAs better are really great people.

@Sneed Hi buddy, are you the author of pixelated texture fix patch for vice city? Thanks for your patch which solve the terrible texture on Mali GPU devices! We have detected a texture bug caused by your patch, which makes the glass windows of Downtown Ammu-nation and stores in North Point Mall become nontransparent visually, not taking place on original texture. Although you released this patch many years ago, could you please try fixing the bug if you have time? Really grateful for your devotion.

i didnt create it, i could try recreating the fix, but i dont even have VC mobile files with me as of now.

@Sneed You need the obb file? This Youtube link provides a download of VC 1.0.9 in introduction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FamnKEeo3II We may work together to fix the problem though I am just a freshman in GTA modding. I have checked the gta3img.txt and gta3hi.txt file in the patch, seemingly the patch creator has changed 'png' and 'img' parameters in most of the objects. I have tried to recode the objects in .txt file which contain keyword 'window' or 'glass', using the original 'png' and  'img' parameter, and got a failure(the glass in game is still nontransparent). 

The biggest challenge for me is that I don't know how to compile .dat file. The .dat files of the patch are almost the same big as the original files compressed in obb, but I can't make a confirmation about whether the patch creator adjust any texture parameter in .dat files to act jointly with the changes in .txt file.

Well I've been a guest for the past 10 years, but this has finally got me to register!

 

Am I able to mod Vice City Andriod 1.09 without a root? Or will I have the same issues as above? Does fastmans limit adjuster need root?

 

I've read through this topic and can't find an answer, sorry if I've missed it 🙂

 

 

 

@guy above with the window question, you need to edit the alpha level, not the file type. Import a black square as alpha and that will sort it

I'm deeply sorry but it was dead for few years, I'm not into mobile modding at all now.

Because that is part of the paid bundle (apk + obb) I'm afraid that's still copyrighted, even if modded, and shouldn't be posted as far as I'm concerned.

You can browse through with txdf**ker (there's a link for it on this thread) And replace the files this way too.

 

I just have no idea if the phone needs to be rooted/how to update the obb as every time I do it downloads a new copy. I know i need fla but not sure if that requires root 🙃

Sorry for double post but do I need to root my andriod device to use fla? I've got the apk from the app store and would like to change car models 🙂

This definitely brings a whole new ball game to mobile modding. GTA 3 PC version recently ported over to modded PSVita's. I tried it and it works perfectly! It would be great if they can also port over the PC versions of VC and SA as well! Just to let everyone know its legit. You have to buy it off of Steam to port the files over.

That's fine with me. I didn't really like most of the characters in SA but it sucks for the people who wanted it. Recently I found a live stream of Vice City getting worked on. I hope it doesn't take all year to get released.

Does anyone know exactly where handling.cfg is in the android file?? I don't see it in my Data. I'm trying to increase the speed in certain vehicles with no success.

Does anyone know if there's an option to enable motion blur/trails on the android version? I think for atmosphere this is the thing I'm missing the most. Thanks!
