Hmmm...I think Sweet was a CJ's best friend. Some people say it can't be Sweet, because they're brothers, but I think brother can be a best friend. Wu Zi Mu is some like business partner, Cesar was a CJ's friend, but only friend. No best friend, no good friend. So I choose Cesar.

I think CJ`s best friend WAS Big Smoke. he may be one of the main antagonists, but all that came across them where drugs. despite the realisation of Smoke betraying CJ and his family in Green Sabre, in the Mission END OF THE LINE, CJ has pity for Big Smoke and Smoke seems to regret his actions. this brings more questions/things to say to my mind that aren't topic related but I`ll say them anyway.

 

Below off topic:

What came to mind was that CJ didn't curse at Smokes name pretty much at all throughout the game and also CJ was more against the drugs than Smoke.

 

Also during the mission End Of The Line, Smoke and CJ seem calm and in a state of talking out there differences, so I think it was Sweet who hated smoke the most but CJ didn`t want to upset his brother again when he needed him most.

Cesar is the best CJ's friend. He helps CJ from mission Cesar Vialpando until mission Los Desperados.

 

Sweet, also but he can't be CJ's friend because Sweet is a CJ's brother.

My old self would have said Sweet for some dumb reason XD. 

I had thought about it a while back. I think Sweet got lot of mess and for this reason, he chooses not to open up. Not even to CJ sometimes. And this made me feel that Sweet itself would have had other problems after the story of San Andreas.

And as for Ceasar, I think CJs bond was much stronger with him.

If Ryder's dubber didn't prematurely give up his job and if Rockstar didn't manage this event so destituely Ryder should have been CJ' best friend.

Ryder was CJ's best friend prior to his betrayal, they both grew up together as childhood friends (along with Big Smoke, who's a bit older and seems to have been closer with Sweet since he often has talks with him about how to run the gang). Ryder's hostility towards CJ throughout the game is for the same reason as for why his brother Sweet is mad at him. CJ abandoned his friends and his gang at a time when they needed him most, after Brian's death. He berates him for being a busta and doubts that CJ will stick around for long.

 

Their friendship is obviously shown by the way they interact with eachother, like CJ wanting a hug in their first mission together, Ryder ordering the same food as him in 'Drive-Thru', and the way Ryder reminisces with him about highschool. Also notice how the two of them are almost always paired together when the gang is all present. The only reason Ryder ended up betraying the grove was because the voice actor wasn't present to record for the rest of the game. It is presumed that had his va had been there that Ryder would have stuck around until the very last mission, and would have been the most loyal member of the gang (He still was, all of his missions were for the benefit of GSF, unlike Big Smoke's missions). Ryder only treats CJ the way he does because of how close they are, had it been anyone else they most likely would have ended up dead since CJ is second in command of GSF. The fact that Ryder has so little votes is shocking to me, but then again their friendship probably went over most player's heads due to his betrayal.

 

However Cesar also becomes a close friend of CJ's as well, specifically during the San Fierro portion of the story.

 

Woozie and CJ have more of a business partnership together, where they share mutual respect between one another.

 

Kendl and Sweet are CJ's siblings, and while they were upset at him for most of the game they're most likely his strongest bonds by the end of the story.

At the end of the day I would pick Cesar considering what CJ and Cesar did for each other. Woozie is also a good friend but he is also a business partner of sorts. Before the story begins it has to be Ryder (I wouldn't count Sweet as a friend since he is CJ's brother) considering how angry he is at CJ for running away. Big Smoke was probably a good friend as well, but it seems that there is more reminiscing going on between Ryder and CJ.

CJ had many friends, I think his "best friends" would be: Cesar Vialpando, The Truth and Woozie.

Ryder and Big Smoke were the best, but of course that was before the Green Saber mission.

Always was Ryder. I'd imagine if not for real life conflicts (R* & MC Eiht falling out), Ryder would've joined CJ in hunting down Tenpenny and Smoke. But yeah, other than him, definitely Cesar.

I definitely think Cesar is the best answer here. Sweet is his brother so I didn't pick him.

 

I was torn between Cesar and Woozie but feel like Cesar has stuck by Carl's side through thick and thin and has proved just how valuable a friend he is.
