What kind of storyline you're looking forward for in the FIVE?

  1. 1. What kind of storyline you're looking forward for in the FIVE?

    • VERY SERIOUS: complicated, full of philosophical thesis and life-reflects; tough and mind-breaking at many times
      12
    • SERIOUS: filled with some valuable thesis, serious issues and real life problems; very mature
      29
    • MIXTURE OF BOTH: a "perfectly normal" plot filled with issues that won't kill your brains at all; a balance of seriousness and comedy
      107
    • FUN: something that will make you laugh and smile at many times, but not something too ridiculous and unrealistic
      31
    • VERY FUN/COMEDY: absolutely stress-free plot full of gags and jokes, filled with immature characters and their silly actions included

...the way you put it - MIXTURE OF BOTH...and i doubt there will be lots of people who'll choose something else, aside from that...

Obviously both. Extreme on one side is too much.

Something that isn't in the poll: A mind-breaking plot that is really funny at the same time. I am referring to Quentin Tarantino or Guy Ritchie movies.

My all time favourite: Snatch. With this movie Ritchie surpasses Tarantino in my opinion. Some TV shows I like: Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, all have their fair share of (dark) humor. Snatch is a little less serious, but the plot is great all the same. Another clever movie (not necessarily with humor): The Departed. I want clever plots like that one. And a lot of (dark) humor.

There is a "mixture of both" option in your poll, but Tarantino/Ritchie movies don't have a "perfectly normal plot". They have a really awesome, intelligent plot, in fact.

Serious is my thing. Storylines make the game, couldn't care less if I couldn't give Trevor cornrows and a tattoo lol.

i just want good action and a lot of shooting.

I dont care if it covers "serious issues" or if its a "plot full of gags and jokes"

Snatch was epic lol. They could totally run a GTA plot similar to that with the same kind of humor.

Fun and entertaining while being serious, however, I do like both dark and light humor, so just have a lot of humor anyways.

A mixture of both. Comedy/parody/irony is pretty much a tradition in GTA games, but serious issues are much needed because the original 1997 GTA 1 fanbase has aged (folks like me, who were playing the first GTA on release when they were 15... 15 years ago already.) I thought GTA IV was a great improvement for that matter.

Serious issues / acting + humor everywhere = pure win.

The trailer shows a very light tone but it is still GTA. Bad stuff is bound to happen, and there ain't gonna be no laughs then. I think primarily we're looking at a story that, while action-packed and fun, is still meant to be taken seriously. Stakes are high, betrayal is at every corner. Michael has a family to think about. We see that he's unhappy with his life and how his kids turned out but I think at some point in the story he'll decide he doesn't 'hate' his family, and may seek amends when it is, unfortunately, too late, and he has already fallen too far on the other side to go back. That could be quite heart-wrenching, but not in a melodramatic way. We won't be seeing people crying and screaming in the rain amongst thunder and lightning, but I don't think GTA V is a comedy either. I can already tell there's some rather serious themes it will be playing on, so ultimately it seems like a nice mixture of both.

I like IV's level of maturity but it was just too depressing too often. Looks like V has a decent amount of humor mixed with some more serious bank robbery sh*t so that's good enough for me.

I want a mixture of both fun and serious, probably slightly swayed to the serious side.

I want absolutely none of that Saints Row rubbish...

A mix is always great. Serious, but not too serious so we can have fun laughing at small things in the game wink.gif

Anyone who thinks Snatch is epic, is epic tounge.gif . I've yet to find something wrong with that movie. That doesn't mean it's the best movie I've ever seen, just that what it does, it does it right.

Unfortunately the stories of games aren't half as good as the stories of books. If there is any developer who could come close though, it's Rockstar. I still think the stories of a lot of "good" movies (not even talking about the great ones) are better than GTA stories. I guess I just don't like the way of storytelling. Or maybe it isn't possible to tell a good story through this medium. I can't say I didn't enjoy the story of, let's say, RDR, but it just doesn't grasp my attention like a "normal" good movie or a TV show.

That's why I am hoping for a not too serious story. Emotion is very hard to put in a game. If a NPC's child dies, it is impossible to make him look look as torn up as he would have looked in a movie, however good the voice actor is. Humor is a little easier to do. And a good plot twist also isn't impossible. And that's why a story from a movie like Snatch would be possible in a game.

If I were looking for a very serious plot then GTA V would be the wrong game for that.

In my opinion the depth and seriousness in GTA IV was great. I want that, but with interesting missions, instead of the repetetive missions found in GTA IV.
