countrymike84
Rockstar is hiding ALOT! We only know about the countryside is that Grapeseed is a small farming village. We only know about the north and western portion of Los Santos and only the names of just a FEW neighborhoods in that area. We only about the Alamo Sea..not whether we can fish or go boating on that large lake. We don't even know a name of a smaller town yet. We don't know about the wine country and vineyards. We haven't seen a pic of animals other than dogs. We haven't seen an inch of the coastal areas other than Del Perro. We haven't seen the other rivers that make up the map other than Zancudo River. And most importantly,we have seen just a peek of the supposed Bay City(Long Beach) so there still remains alot to be seen and shown.
RedDagger
For me, the city certainly looks smaller because there are less skyscrapers, whereas in LC, Algonquin was comprised almost entirely of tall buildings.
NONative
The answer is simple if you choose to think about it. With just a city scape the missions would have gotten to repetitive. (What i believe was wrong with IV.) With a wide number of terrains the missions where more open to opinions.
artie
Pause the second trailer right as the jet is flying through the remnants of the blown up helicopter. It gives a good indicator of the city size. It looks to be fairly large.

It looks like all of LC in my opinion. The only reason LC looks bigger is because Algonquin was extremely dense, really dense. But yesterday in TBoGT and flew north of Algonquin and could see all 3 islands. If you flattened all of those skyscrapers it wouldn't look so big or much bigger than LS. And then those two shots(night one and panoramic) aren't really showing what's north of Santa Monica or what's at the foot of the hills and in the hills. Even if this city isn't bigger, it sure is more interesting than LC already.
