DoomsdayFAN
Any guesses on if the environment (buildings/houses/etc) will be destroyable? If I fly a plane into a skyscraper in the heart of Los Santos, will the plane just explode on the exterior and the building will be completely unaffected (ala every other GTA game)? I hope not. I really hope structures can be destroyed this time around. I hate it when houses and buildings are indestructible. If I hit the side of a building with a rocket launcher, I want to see some realistic damage. If I fly a plane into the side of FIB headquarters, I want to see some major chaos and NPCs freaking out, and an eventual collapse if the building has been attacked just right. Granted, this is where the NPC could come in wonderfully. Whatever damage we've caused, no matter how extreme, the NPCs will come in, clean it up, and build it back to the way it was. Depending on the size of the devastation, the NPCs will either take longer or shorter amounts of time to fix it. A small house..... 1-2 in-game days. A large skyscraper..... 2-3 in-game weeks. Etc. I know no one can say for sure at this point, but it's worth a chat. Seeing something like this happen would be LOADS more fun than attacking an adamantium-esque building/structure. It would actually make terrorizing the city and towns a ton of fun. We could plan out our attack and ransack the place like Rambo did in First Blood. AuSsIeThUnDeR36
Topics like this make my blood boil because OP just sounds like a terrorist. Coolstream
It will likely be just like the previous GTA games. As far as I know, the rage engine never had (or can't handle) destructible environment.
DoomsdayFAN
Topics like this make my blood boil because OP just sounds like a terrorist. This is gta not '9/11 simulator' This is a video game world. Why shouldn't we be able to destroy it? We can already blow up/shoot up NPCs 'til the cows come home (ala any crackpot who's shot up a room full of people before) so I don't see what the big deal is with blowing up a building and making it collapse. I mean, it is a game that involves doing major felony crimes (hence Grand Theft Auto). Blowing up a building isn't gunna all of a sudden make it completely unreasonable or offensive. I'm sure if it involved cutscenes it would make it a whole lot more feasable from a technological standpoint. I wouldn't mind it being a feature. The whole point of the game is to be a commit crimes, including murder people. You can mow down innocent pedestrians in the game. I don't see knocking down a building in a video game being any worse than that.
DoomsdayFAN
As far as I know, the rage engine never had (or can't handle) destructible environment. Is GTA V going off the Rage engine? Too bad they can't make it work, or develope a new engine to make it work. Like, would it be possible to make the structural enviroments out of the Euphoria engine like they did with NPCs? So when something gets hit, it reacts to getting hit.
018361
I'm cool with it. I hope it will be something like BF3, but with more destruction. also, Inb4 the " consoles can't handle it " remarks.

DoomsdayFAN
My ultimate goal -if we are able to destroy the actual environment- is to take out this: I want to blow the dam and have the water spill out into the city. Thats one (only ONE) of the problems with you fu*kin kids today, you lack perspective. To you there is no difference between gunning down someone in the street and mass murder and property damage. Besides that, people that are old enough to remember 9-11 wouldn't feel comfortable flying a jetliner into a building. Of course, kids today dont remember that awful morning. I'm old enough to remember 9/11, and I've flown planes into buildings on every game I've ever played where it's possible (and been disappointed by the lack of impact every time). blakeney
I wouldnt get your hopes up... from my 28 years of gaming, i have learnt to see what will really come fromt hings like pre release trailers... Imo, buildings like in the trailer going up in flames will be either, just a one off during a mission... or there will be old looking houses like the one in trailer, and they can be blown up... but only them. djsinnema
Since Trevor Frankilin and Michael are clearly NOT ARABS I seriously doubts we will actually be destroying buildings. The footage in the trailer is likely to be a mission where we destroy an abandoned shack. I would also think, given Rockstar is have an office in New York they are not going to make jokes out of something so sensitive to people who are employed by them.
