andrew24wow
hi, This is a very important question because I am going to spend a lot of money so I was wondering can my system that I might buy run gta IV, smooth, recorded with fraps, and high? I am aiming for at least 30 fps when I record, and like 40 when I am not thanks here are the specs: CPU-Amd Fx-6300 [email protected] PSU- 500W 80 plus certified Motherboard- Msi 970A-g46 GPU- Nvidia gtx 550 ti 2gb Case-Raidmax simlidon HDD-Western digital 1tb 7200 rpm So can I run gtaIV smooth, high, and record without lag, Thank you for taking time and reading this! monster875.
u'll be disappointed if u think that system is capable fo highest with more than 40 fps. my system can handle IV on highest settings, but it sometimes drops to a little lower than 30 fps, but sometimes more than 40. i guess u'll have to run at lower settings to prevent less than 24 fps. the reason is because that GPU isn't that powerful when it comes to play IV
andrew24wow
To be honest I don't really know if that is accurate considering right now I have an HD 3000 intel graphics integrated card, and it runs 24 fps on low.....
monster875.
dude, my GPU is way more powerful than that GTX550
andrew24wow
But have you ever owned the actual card? If so that would be more accurate. Also, I found a video where the guy is using ichanncer and he is getting like 60 fps I really don't know if it is really but it was made only last mouth: Edited November 28, 2012 by andrew24wow
monster875.
well, he first of all only uses about 700mb of memory, which is way lower than me, i use a little over 1000mb on highest settings. so he's not running it on highest. also, he doesn't prove anywhere that he's getting 60 FPS, he could get like 30 in that vid. he doesn't even say if it's stock clocks or OC'ed GPU, neither if it's SLi. Intel HD 3000 is really really really really REALLY bad Intel is known for their processors not for their graphic cards Besides if you're going to be ignorant then please don't ask anything at all because we give advice that you could do but if you don't wanna listen to it then don't ask anything Because monster875. is right you need a more powerfull CPU like a Intel i5 or an Intel i7 If I were you I would upgrade my graphics card aswell for future games and for the games that are here now
andrew24wow
How is that being ignorant, I am just stating something that relates to the topic at hand.Out my personal opinion I said "That might not be so accurate" it is not a fact... luceberg
You really need an Intel i5/i7 clocked at 4GHz+ and GTX670 or equivalent to do what you want, at the lowest GTX 560 TI. Edited November 28, 2012 by luceberg
HornBasher62
I think that it's your CPU and not GPU that is gonna hold you back from desired outcome. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think GTX 550 ti is comparable with my old GTX 260 (550 maybe slightly slower) so here is my benchmark: GPU: Statistics Average FPS: 58.98 Duration: 37.06 sec CPU Usage: 72% System memory usage: 37% Video memory usage: 95% Graphics Settings Video Mode: 1680 x 1050 (59 Hz) Texture Quality: High Shadow Quality: High Reflection Resolution: High Water Quality: High Texture Filter Quality: Anisotropic x2 Night Shadows: High View Distance: 50 Detail Distance: 51 Hardware Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 Video Driver version: 306.97 Audio Adapter: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) Intel® Core i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz In game-play I usually get 50ish down to mid 30 fps. I found this website benchmarks quite reliable when comes to GTA : CPU: Game-play, high settings, high traffic/peds Based on that my guess is that you can expect to get around 30 fps from above specs, however main question is that, what resolution you play at? If you gonna play it at something like 1280x720, that with some graphic tweaks you just might get what you looking for, otherwise you should consider upgrading it to i5. I can't help you with recording as I haven't record GTA at my current rig, however I did it on my old pc with phenom ii 955 and gtx 260 @ 720p with frames locked to 30, and I had no drops whatsoever (I've used msi afterburner? built in recorder and SSD&HDD) Good luck
andrew24wow
I would upgrade but I already bought the motherboard as well as cpu before this topic has started, also my friend has the exact same specs, as the one I listed in the first topic, and he runs 40 fps, but I wanted to get some different perspectives and performance. I might get the gtx 650 ti 2gb or the 550 ti 2gb. EDIT: I am getting the gtx 560 ti 1gb please tell me if that will run gta iv at least 30 fps while recording, btw the amd proccer is pretty good, considering it is part of the new versihia not the bulldozer series. I think you haven't understood what I said at all EDIT: Thats what I mean andrew people recommend you to buy a i5 or an i7 processor and you go ahead and doubt it and say the amd processor is pretty good Look man GTA IV is very VERY badly optimized so a amd processor won't do it Just buy an i5 or an i7 proccesor and thats basically all you need you don't need the newest graphics card made lol just get a GTX 560 or somewhere around there and an i5 or an i7 processor and you're good to go Edited November 29, 2012 by LoreLegend

If you really want a good GPU to rely on you can buy the MSI Geforce GTX 660 TI Power Edition OC 2GB for about €300,- ($289.99) http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Overvoltage-N660...er+edition+2+gb

monster875.
andrew24wow: dude, u posted in the IV section, that means it has to do with something about IV, not all other games except IV. if u ain't gonna play IV on it, u should've posted in the Tech and PC chat forum LoreLegend: i think only Crysis and Metro demands such high GPU as a 660 Ti to run smoothly. but bear in mind it's a pretty expensive card and not some that anyone can afford
andrew24wow
I misunderstood the sentence, I thought he said "what about other games" but I will be using this mostly for Gtaiv because I have a series on my youtube channel but I lag so I need a better pc.
