EvilFuture
I don't know if anybody has covered this or not, but I have noticed GTA 4's death mechanic was very... poor. For example, when you jump out of a comet at very high speeds, you will hit the ground and bounce up and everything, hit your head at least 5 times, and you will still have maybe half health. This isn't the problem though, because what pisses me off is when he hits his side or leg or something, and just dies. I mean, how do you go to half heath to death with a hit to the leg? It really pisses me off because I am hoping for more rolling and bouncing, but then I just suddenly die for no reason. Do you think this will be improved or not? I really hope it is, it's one of the things that bugged me the most in GTA V
Nasir_Jones
It definitely will be improved, I had the same problem and I get mad too. There's a lot R* is taking into consideration and hopefully this will be improved.
funkybub
they added extra realism. If you die, the disk gets wiped and a CIA agent is called to your house where they shoot you at point blank
H. León
Yeah. I hated when you had like 1/10 of health after 200 rounds of an AK47 and you died when you fell from like 2 meters.
98 in 1
The way I see it, is that in those situations the game (or game engine rather) sees that you have been traveling for a long enough distance to warrant your death, even though you aren't taking that much damage, so it just kills you completely. I've had times where I'd jump out with full health, lose about half in a few bounces, then hit the ground and die completely. This happens with falling off buildings as well (albeit in a different yet similar sort of way). From my experience, falling past a certain height will kill you, no matter how or where you land. Ex: I don't remember the exact location of the building (except that it's in Algonquin), but it was one of the few that has a scaffolding. I took it up to a certain point where I was able to make the jump across to an adjacent building. I took the jump and survived the landing, but the roof of the building was slanted so Niko slid down to the edge which kept him from falling to the ground below, but when he touched the edge, he died. I think whatever point I jumped from exceeded the "survivable limit" so no matter what happened, Niko was going to die. Same goes for jumping out of vehicles. At least, that's the way I perceive it, I don't know if the way I explained it is the way it works exactly. Just going off experience and observation. And yes, hopefully Rockstar has made some tweaks to this as well. EDIT: Now that I think about it, it somewhat makes sense (at least when you bail out from a moving vehicle at high speeds). Why have the player bounce for 20-30 seconds and then die when the game can just kill you (which slows your momentum down, causing the death screen to be even shorter), and have you spawn at the hospital ready to go? I know I would hate to go flying for a prolonged amount of time, just to die at the end. Edited November 27, 2012 by mr6plow9

I really hope it is, it's one of the things that bugged me the most in GTA V To tell you the truth. I hope this doesent change. The fact that any impacts can kill you is realistic if you think about it. But adds more of a game element. Think of being covered in bullets close to death and falling down and how much pain and blood you would lose from falling on the ground after that. Pain can kill you. A bump into any type into nerves while close to death can cause cardiac arrest. Also that would be no different than turning on god mode. When you close to death don't be a dope and look before You cross the street haha
jamieleng
Dying due to a bump to the leg sounds more like a glitch. I'm pretty sure that's not what was intended & I've never experienced that before.
Celestail
Here's what it should be like: • Wounds show when shot • Bones can break • dismembered body parts • Fall unconscious • Should spend time in the hospital • Can pull out bullets • Move differently depending on the wounds/injuries you have

It usually causes one little bit of damage

I don't think so.
EvilFuture
Here's what it should be like: • Wounds show when shot • Bones can break • dismembered body parts • Fall unconscious • Should spend time in the hospital • Can pull out bullets • Move differently depending on the wounds/injuries you have That's a good idea. The wounds do show in more recent R* games like RDR and MP3. The only one I don't agree with is the spending time in the hospital. I like the way it is now. If you spent time, it would be too much of a pain of the ass imo. But maybe instead of waking up outside, you wake up in the hospital bed and you just get up and leave. As much as I would like to see your arm all flap doodle and your gun accuracy go down cause of it or you move slower. I don't think it would make much sense haha pulling out bullets. Whoa. I believe they will be using the gore from max Payne 3 which makes me pretty excited

Big_Mitch_Baker
This got me thinking; What happens when one protag dies, do we follow him as he respawns at the hospital or will we auto-switch to the next living protag? (Rhetorical question of course)

I think the mod was called bleed heal. We can only hope these appear in V it would sick.
