huiop2
But honestly, if you expect the game to have a better performance than GTA4, then you'll most likely be disappointed in the end. That's something nearly impossible to improve, if you also improve the details and everything else for a game that's running on 6 year old consoles. I dont agree with that. Have a look at games like Uncharted 3 and the last of us. Even after 6 years they are only just now starting to produce great games. Each game has been a breakthrough in one way or another for Ps3. I am expecting big things from GTA V. R* obviously improved from IV to RDR. What would make you think they wont improve from RDR to GTA V with 5 years in development they will definately move forward. That and the fact the engine has been upgraded I am sure it will be an improvement. Not sure about the Xbox. I have reead that it would be impossible for Xbox to run such games as Uncharted 3 and the last of us. Cant remember where I read it though. true. just look at forza 2 and forza 4, both running at almost 60 fps on xbox360, while the latter has far better graphics. sure you can't change the hardware, but you CAN improve the engine to make it work more efficiently

I guess they are only just starting to push current consoles. Forza if Forza 4 and Uncharted 3 were designed just after console release, I wonder how far we would be now? Guess current gen consoles still have a year or two in them.
james_root
Let me put it this way: If you didn't have a single graphical or frame rate related problems/ complains on MP3,LA Noire , RDR, GTA IV on either x360 or ps3; then you have nothing to worry about about V on consoles. I'm %100 sure the game will look and perform great for your standarts.
Shaunr
the question is: will it blend? maybe they will use frame blending, although it makes me dizzy. i hope they just have a decent framerate, especially when i blow up a few cars at once. xWH1T30UTx
'Never had a problem with framerate on any Rockstar game. Granted, I install all of my games to the HDD on my 360, so that could be it. If there were any dips below a completely smooth 30 fps, I didn't notice it. V will probably run at a smooth 25-30. Not much to worry about.

I'm not gonna trust a SONY owned company that says the comptition can't handle the product, since every company ever does the exact same thing, and it's usually not true. Besides, both consoles are just as bad, they're not that different

Or you are just boring when you play. try putting a bunch of cars together and blowing them all up. youll find somelag. and installing on HDD doesn't have any effect on fps. the HDD is an advantage because data can be loaded faster than the laser can read. It does not process this data faster though. its hard drive, not a CPU or GPU.
uhugluesonofagun
Since GI already has stated that Frame Rate issues exist but are not common so there's no need to worry, And if you want more than 60FPS 1080p Great graphics etc etc etc PC..... DeafMetal
I don't think TES V (Skyrim) runs at more than 30 FPS. I have the ps3 and Steam version; the Steam version runs around ~60 FPS and is noticeably more responsive than my ps3 version. Anyway, on topic: if there's no framerate drops and if it's above 30 FPS, I'm all good, tbh. I didn't notice any crazy frame rate drops in IV apart from when I was spamming rockets on the buzzard. Shreddy Krueger
From what I recall, I never had much problem with FPS (I have GTAIV on the 360). On some occasions I noticed a bit of an issue, like if i became cornered during a high-level police chase. Once all the cruisers stopped and the police got out of there vehicles, shooting at me and looking for cover. then once I busted out the rocket launcher and lit up a few of the cruisers at once, there was noticeable framerate drop. But it's not like that was constantly happening throughout my playing. My biggest pet peeve with GTAIV is the ludicrous amount of pop-in. It's one of the reasons I don't play it anymore. Nothing pissed me off more than when my vehicle would stop dead in its tracks, only to find out a few seconds later it was the result of me slamming into a tree that popped in a few seconds after I hit it. And yes, this level of pop-in occurs when I played the game from the disc as well as installing it to the HD.
MosquitoSmasher
It's really interesting too see that most people don't realize frame drops , or mainly low frame rates. GTA IV on consoles usually ran around 25 fps and it would go below 20 in most cases. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalf...ayne-3-face-off If you watch the videos here, you will see even Max Payne 3 doesnt't have a steady 30 fps on consoles. It goes down to 12 fps on ps3 from what i saw at the video. edit: it's even more interesting when people tell me to dust my console to allow it to run the game more smoothly.....like it's really going to work. i bought gtaiv just 3 weeks after i bought my xbox360 and the frame rate was already an issue by that time. the cleanliness of console has nothing to do with the fps, it only depends on the hardware and the game engine Yeah. Some people actually recommended me to get a Xbox 360 slim instead of my old white Arcade, but i find it very doubtful it would make any difference. And as James_root said.... I find it very interesting too that alot of people don't realize framedrops, i'm honestly alittle baffled by it. I have a 60 inch plasma screen and OMFG at the framedrops in GTA IV at times, it's not even funny. Surely it's less noticeable on smaller tv's but it still should be visible. I know i really hate a bad bad framerate though. This truly is my only real concern for GTA V...and a friend of mine says the exact same thing.
