huiop2
hi I don't know if anyone else has posted something similar but I just want to say that I hope gtav will have a better frame rate on xbox360. gtaiv is running probably 30 fps at maximum on the console and this is quite low in comparison to other open world games like saint row 3, l.a noire( it isn't really an open world game i know, but you can still walk and drive around the city), tes v and just cause 2 and so on...while all of them still have great graphics as well, some even better than gtaiv's. but i'm actually have faith in R*, because RDR was developed using the same engine that had been used to develope gtaiv before, and obviously RDR has better graphics and frame rate than gtaiv. that engine has since been upgraded to develope gtav, so there is no reason gta won't have a better frame rate than gtaiv i don't expect the game to run as smoothly as those sports games or racing games on a console, but an increase of 10 fps will be awesome enough. Grand Chef Toto
Everyone does. It's my main concern, although I'm sure R* will deliver this time, framerate-wise.
omeromer
RDR runs perfectly on my PS3, and it has amazing graphics (compared to GTA IV). I believe R* have learned their lesson with GTA IV, I think GTA V will not have these problems.
cp1dell
Never had a problem with it on my 360. You should dust it out.

All I know is that they demo players said the frame rate was kinda messed up but not noticeable. But they also said they are fixing it and tweeking. I believe rdr came out after gta 4 so we should be ok as long as we install :000000000000

Grand Chef Toto
It already has frame rate issues just ask Game informer they mention it It matters little that the game has slight frame rate issues 6 months prior to release. What matters is whether it still got them on release time.

CryptReaperDorian
This was always one of my larger concerns and criticisms of the GTA series. Just about every GTA game has relatively poor frame rate for the speed you can accomplish in the games. Textures don't load up in time, and your plane ends up into an invisible tree. SCLASS
Game informer doesnt mention framerate problems from what I recall ? Just 'play the game' some of you say ?...its CRITICAL to my and many others enjoyment of the game. GTAIV was a f*cking disgrace fps wise ..frequently dropping to sub 15 frames per second. Try a 3 plus star chase in Algonquin...not exactly fluid eh ?. The 2nd V trailer showed far fewer microstutters than the first one did. Fairly obvious performance has improved a good deal. wallis
After playing San Andreas and then playing IV, I was blown away with how good it looked. As long as V looks as good as IV does, I'll be more than happy. Any improvement is welcomed, but I find it a trivial issue.

This ^ GtaIV always felt slow and sluggish, later I figured it's due to low fps. But the engine has been improved since gtaIV so I have good hopes for gtaV. If not, let's hope next gen consoles will come soon and have backwards compatibility or pc version will be released soon.

reform
There's no way it won't be 30FPS. If you want 60+ You're going to have to wait for next gen or wait for PC release.

If you want 60+ You're going to have to wait for next gen or wait for PC release. didn't you read the last paragraph? nobody's expecting 60 fps since we all know that the current generation of consoles just don't have enough power. but that doesn't mean it can't be improved, between 30 and 60+ fps there is a huge gap isn't it? SnowySA
Xbox360 and ps3 are way too weak to handle GTAV. Lagg and lots of jaggies and flickering textures and popping textures.
Trund
GTA4 was just fine, I think. If I remember right, GTA SA was worse (but I can't exactly remember it well). But honestly, if you expect the game to have a better performance than GTA4, then you'll most likely be disappointed in the end. That's something nearly impossible to improve, if you also improve the details and everything else for a game that's running on 6 year old consoles. It's either performance or graphics. But R* will (like always) pick the version in-between, which will end in a well playable result like GTA4

You're going to buy it again for the PC in the near future ;D I did the same thing, haha. Once I had bought it three separate times, I think that's when I realized it's officially my favorite game. SCLASS
MiamiViceCity - GTAIV FREQUENTLY went sub 20fps ..at least on the consoles.. Its not fluid..it was a poorly optimised game.. Many, many , many people have noticed this. So dont 'poo poo' the point that IV was stuttery.

MosquitoSmasher
Game Informer did not say the framerate was bad at all, they actually praised it and said they didn't see any lag or whatsoever, and i see alot of people referring to lag when they mean framerate, so i bet they were talking about that. It was one or two other sites that said the framerate was good but not perfect yet. They did however talk about alot of aliasing (jagged edges). As for Red Dead Redemption. We should not forget how many open spaces that gameworld, lots of emptiness, whereas GTA V will have a huge city packed with the smallest details, a huge ocean, countryside with villages etc. I'd be insanely impressed if the framerate can be like RDR in GTA V. james_root
It's really interesting too see that most people don't realize frame drops , or mainly low frame rates. GTA IV on consoles usually ran around 25 fps and it would go below 20 in most cases. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalf...ayne-3-face-off If you watch the videos here, you will see even Max Payne 3 doesnt't have a steady 30 fps on consoles. It goes down to 12 fps on ps3 from what i saw at the video. edit: Edited November 28, 2012 by james_root

That's something nearly impossible to improve, if you also improve the details and everything else for a game that's running on 6 year old consoles. I dont agree with that. Have a look at games like Uncharted 3 and the last of us. Even after 6 years they are only just now starting to produce great games. Each game has been a breakthrough in one way or another for Ps3. I am expecting big things from GTA V. R* obviously improved from IV to RDR. What would make you think they wont improve from RDR to GTA V with 5 years in development they will definately move forward. That and the fact the engine has been upgraded I am sure it will be an improvement. Not sure about the Xbox. I have reead that it would be impossible for Xbox to run such games as Uncharted 3 and the last of us. Cant remember where I read it though.
