ccrogers15
NOTE: Going by this image, nintendo is yet again stealing ideas. The Wii and PS3 both have front loading disk drives that are mechanical. However, PS3 Super Slim changed the PS3 disk drive to be top loading, and user openable only. Now, Checking out this image, it would appear that nintendo is also going this way and making the Wii Mini top loading. Anyways, For whatever reason nintendo thinks they need to make a Wii Mini. This is just a standard wii. Not a wiiu. http://www.engadget.com/2012/11/27/nintend...ly-at-best-buy/ And will launch December 7th 2012. Looking at the body of the console on the box, It looks rounded on the sides and front, so it looks like gamecube ports are missing. Not really a surprise since nintendo seems to dislike Gamecube but still. I dont really see a point in a mini though, but most likely its to battle the PS3 super slim that just came out. UPDATE: http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/27/ret...c837af86f000002 Wii Mini price is confirmed to be just $99. Wii mini will NOT have any Internet connectivity whatsoever, this also expands to the friends lists and store. Wii mini will not be able to play gamecube games either. UPDATE 2: http://www.geek.com/articles/games/the-wii...d-slot-2012123/ Wii mini does NOT have an SD card slot. Remix
Nintendo's approach to marketing their new, poorly named next-gen console: "Let's confuse the consumers some more by releasing a Wii Mini!" To be fair though, Nintendo have done this several times in the past. It's just a way to entice people to buy a Wii (if they haven't already) before Christmas at an even cheaper price. Edit: Seriously, the WiiU should've be named something completely different to differentiate it from the Wii. Does Nintendo honestly expect the average consumer to walk into a store and know the difference between a Wii, Wii Mini and a WiiU? All the optional extra peripherals for the Wii make it even more confusing, too. Working in a retail game outlet for a short amount of time, I can promise you that the answer is a resounding no. Corndawg93
The idea of an Wii mini is friggin retarded, and who ever came up with the idea is a dead set retard Edited November 27, 2012 by billy james
WHAT!?
Nintendo seems to be getting on that slippery slope of making to many versions of the same thing. I hope they don't slide down it like SEGA did. I really don't see the WiiU as a next gen console either. It's just the Wii with another screen on the controller. It's like playing cell phone games with your TV. I mean really, who gives a sh*t?

I must admit I only just researched about the wiiu after getting interested in the zombiu game. I was under the impression that wiiu was just the tablet thing you used with the standard wii didn't realise it was a separate console.

The most simple solution to it would have been to simply call it the Wii 2 or something along the lines of that. That way they cash in on the popular Wii name whilst making it clear it is a brand new console.

ccrogers15
Basically this console will flop, hard. The only reason nintendo is doing this is because there trying to confuse and rip off there fans. I can see it now. Kids on christmas. This is the story: KID BEFORE CHRISTMAS: Mom, i want a WiiU for Christmas! MOM: Maybe hun! KID ON CHRISTMAS AFTER OPENING PRESENTS: Mom a Wii Mini! This is so cool! MOM: And here is Super Mario Bros U for the wii u! Merry Christmas! KID AFTER INSERTING DISK INTO WII MINI: Its loading! WII MINI: sorry, but this disk is incompatible. MOM: Thats odd! OH NO! IT SAYS WIIU! IM SO CONFUSED OMG AAAHHH! KID IN TEARS: MOM YOU RUINED MY CHRISTMAS! NINTENDO WITH THERE MONEY:

Firefly8000
Basically this console will flop, hard. The only reason nintendo is doing this is because there trying to confuse and rip off there fans. I doubt they're TRYING to confuse their fans OR rip them off. It's simply a case of seeing if people are interested in the console with internet features stripped off, hence the fact it is Canadian exclusive. They'll see if it sells well and then decide whether or not to release it in other countries. It IS confusing for older people though, there's going to be lots of children in Canada asking for "the new Wii" for Christmas and will end up disappointed come Christmas morning. I'm willing to bet quite a few people will get this actually, there's bound to be people who only want to play games on the console and simply never had the chance to buy one before. Plus, it looks cool so a lot of people will probably just say "Why not?"
ryuclan
Everybody who wants a Wii already has one. I can't really see this working out at all. Nintendo are a great company...BUT they are notorious for saturating the market. Their consoles as well as their flagship titles are always milked to a pulp. Also removing GC compatibility and wifi support was a horrible idea. Edited November 28, 2012 by ryuclan
EverBlazin
I bought a real wii when they announced the other slimline one, without the Gamecube function. This newer one looks even worse.

Los Santos Pedestrian
Let me put this into contrast: Frank and Bob, the CEO and Chairman of ABC Cars Co., are sitting at their meeting table. Frank says to Bob: "Hey, Bob, I've got a good idea. We make great cars, yes?" "Yeah, we do; some of the best in the world." Bob replied. "Why, what about them?" "Well, they are already priced lower than our competitors. So, we should take all the standard features from one of our models, then steal parts from our competitor's cars, and sell it for a lower price! Doesn't that sound like a great idea?" "sh*t, Frank, I never thought you had it in you." Bob said. "We should jump in on this straight away." The company ceases to exist 10 years later. Eventually, [number] years later, Nintendo follows in their footsteps.
