Trund Posted November 27, 2012 Share Posted November 27, 2012 I cant remember.. someone from R*.. maybe Houser, said something like they chose to do it on the current generation because theres a larger group of people who can enjoy it compared to the very few that'll purchase the next gens when they first come out by the time the next GTA is ready (VI, probably), the systems will already be a few years old so R* can produce a better game on them than if they were to do it now. Probably 6? What else would it be? considering after III came VC and SA before IV, who knows what R* has planned for the future. That obviously really wasnt the point of my comment at all though. They did this because all the games ran on the same engine as GTA 3. Basically every game that has a new number has a new engine as well. It was also confirmed that GTA 5 is running on a new engine. thatguy94 Posted November 27, 2012 Share Posted November 27, 2012 RDR 2 will be released for next gen, and it's going to be amazing & since at the end of RDR they said the cowboy age was about to be over that means we can expect to be playing in a mafia like environment, imagine super HD mafia, except created by R*, with all the cool features we know and love from all old R* games, it'll even be better than Gta5, & dependant definitely expect to see Model T cars everywhere! Well, The Benz said this in the IGN interview: “We had a lot of the North team working on RDR and LA Noire, which allowed us to gain experience of other projects and how to solve problems and use them within the new game engine we've created for V.” So we don't exactly know what engine is being used, but to R* it's a new engine. Dan Houser already said that the current consoles cannot get anymore ripe now. R* knows the PS3 and XBOX allot better than they're gonna know the new consoles when they release, While a game on the new consoles may be graphically improved, the gameplay features and performance may lack, considering how R* isn't as experienced with the new consoles. However, here is a genuine possibility. I am assuming 6 months down from Xbox 360 and PS3 release they will introduce a PC version, like IV with improved graphics. Perhaps at a similar time they will release a high def version for the next gen that is on a par with the PC? That sounds like win-win for me if they can pull that off. The game is build on current gen, the quality of the game belongs on this gen, this game is expected to sell 20 million copies in one year, that can only happen right now when there are 70 million ps3's sold and 66 million 360's. I feel late 2014 at the earliest for next gen consoles. I'm 100% sure, that they will announce the next gen consoles next year @ E3 and will release them in 2014/2015. This doesn't make sense. Why would they announce a console and then wait 1.5-2.5 years after that to release it? This is just an idiotic statement. Some analysts (I know, I know) expect GTA V to sell 14 million copies in the first week. I for example expect GTA V to sell 11-12 million copies in the first week and up to 30 million copies in the first year. According to Wikipedia the XBox 360 was sold 70 million times (November 2012) and the Playstation 3 was sold 70 million times (November 16th 2012) as well. Well, actually Watch Dogs is a current-generation game. It has been confirmed a few times and also the demo was from a High-End PC which is why that game has such great graphics. Playstation Orbis and XBox Durango are coming sooner than you might think. I heard news that the consoles will be announced on E3 in 2013 and the release would be in the fourth quarter of 2013.
