XrayEyes
Hello! As being a great fan of how each game has progressed the car handling towards realism. Im really hoping they will include a bigger change or supplementing to the already cool demolishment. As what seems to be the great things about this game are the smaller details, so adding more depth into those mechanisms would be awesome. What If: - Use your seatbelt? (adding realism and, oh no, I forgot to fasten my seatbelt, haha.) - Bigger chunks could get ripped or chrushed appart. - Dying by crashing your car? Simply putting It like: I want more challenging driving. Do you differ or can you add something?
AceHigh11
I think it was great in IV. Maybe if you'd wait a while before driving off in your car, you automatically put on your seatbelt.

jamieleng
That's two new words I've learnt today, 'manier' & now 'demolishment'. Thank you forum users, for expanding my vocabulary (sorry if your first language isn't English, no offence meant). I wouldn't expect much more car deformation than IV, which is already streets ahead of most open world sandbox games.
Zxirius.
It would be interesting if waiting a second or two would enable your seatbelt, hearing a subtle 'click' which indicates you won't fly out of the car when hitting things at high speeds. If you're on the run, you don't use your seatbelt which makes getting away a little more challenging. That's two new words I've learnt today, 'manier' & now 'demolishment'. Thank you forum users, for expanding my vocabulary (sorry if your first language isn't English, no offence meant). Not sure about 'manier', but demolishment is a word. It's rare, but some words aren't a part of the spell-check within your browser.
BrijG
I remember the first time I noticed scratches appearing on your car in IV, it put a big smile of my face. The blood spatter one the hood was also another cool effect, I used to spend ages crashing into peds to get the bloodiest car possible.
killahmatic
seatbelts- at most it would be for effect, like putting on a helmet while driving a motorcycle. bigger chunks ripped apart - i think IV was pretty much perfect, no need for much more dying from a car crash- no. I'm a great driver on IV but peds randomly turn into your path or stop right in front of you and cause crashes. I dont want to die just from driving. AtomicPunk
Seatbelts are for pu$$ies, chump. People like me & Trevor, --we don't use'em.
GTAVIViceCity
Maybe for the three characters one of them will probably put a seatbell on automatically (like GTAIV with a motorcycle helmet) I could see Michael or Franklin doing that. Not Trevor tho.
Hotrodx199
The only way i would approve of dying from a car crash is if you did not put on your seatbelt and flew out and hit an oncoming car face first, not just by hitting people. Grand Theft Auto isn't about realism, it's about fun.

But anyways, IV did great with the car damage! This time tho I wanna see some more gruesome damage, like my car getting t-boned by a 18 wheeler and my car splits in half...or get swiped from the front at speeds so high, my entire engine flys out.........or explodes into a fireball

I'd say you get hurt instead of dying (and the crashes need to be violent enough), I don't think ramming peds at high speeds would hurt you... Kuunkulta
This thread reminded me of the most funny wtf moment I had in san andreas: A scooter was sitting at red lights and I crashed my TANK full speed to the scooters back. The scooter didn't move an inch while my tank did 2 backflips Gotta love how the physics are improved and bugs like this filtered out! Ontopic I support seatbelts as it was bloody annoying to fly out of your car in middle of police chase just because a ped decided to kamikaze turn right into my path. Also doing actual flips while in air with a 2-wheeler and some damage to bikes when falling long distance

Trund
The damage in GTA IV was already pretty dynamic, as you could easily change it to a quite realistic state as well (at least on the PC Version). But I think it will be pretty much like the default GTA IV damage, which was just perfect to me anyways. No one wants a game where a car is totalled after just one minor crash, that'd kill the game. There should be more damage to the car systems though. Like losing cooling water, oil etc.

Cromiell
This engine's perfomance is IMPOSSIBLE to reach with current tech in open world like GTA.
TheMarkofZollo
I really enjoyed the damage system in IV, it was a great leap forward but I think it needs attention now. It was great on PC with the increased damage, then even better with the realistic damage mod. It made the game more challanging and thus more enjoyable. A car would be ruined easier but it didn't bother me as I rarely crash (unless deliberate) but then in the far too easy Police chases gives you a panic moment of "crap, where is another car to use". I hope they implement panel folding, not just crumpling, so your wing or bonnet (hood) would fold up or out rather than just in. Also panels breaking off easier would improve it. I can appreciate physics like BeamNG are not possible in this (they said it takes a full core for each vehicle!) but little improvements like above will push it further into the best damage out there (in an open world game) and will really improve visual appearance of crashes.
