Silent
Vice City Trails Played Vice City on PS2? Or maybe III on any platform? You miss the option to make your game brighter and more 80s looking, don't you? Well, Rockstar must have hated this effect, as for unknown reasons it had been cut from PC versions of Vice City. However, it was a quick cut and it's possible to re-enable this effect. That's what Vice City Trails does. You might ask, what makes VC Trails better than any other mod which re-enables this Display Graphics option (as it's not the first modification which restores them)? Firstly, it's an ASI plugin. That means you won't have to get rid of your favourite Steam Overlay just to have the game seem more blurry. Secondly, unlike all the other mods, this one actually saves Trails option as any other Graphic option, which means you don't have to re-enable it every time you start the game. After all, it's just more worth it to have an extra file in Vice City directory than to mess with your EXE. Installation is easy as pie. Put vctrails.asi file in the game root directory or mss folder and play.If your EXE is supported, mod will just load. If your EXE is not supported, well, you're screwed (but you still can play). Screenshots The option is selectable in menu. Sunnnnnnnnnnny! Trails at night. Don't you love these rain droplets? That blood looks nice. And bloody. Revolution-Designes
You're very productive the last few days Silent ;D Nice work on this one! I was wondering, is it also possible to enable this option for San Andreas? Or was it completely cut in SA?
Silent
Sadly, SA seems to have it cut for good. I'm hoping to release PS2 Loadscreens update to support Steam EXEs. Then, Silent needs rest. Cookie Monster tired. @down Heh, I seem to have lags too, despite the fact my PC is good. Perhaps THAT'S the reason R* cut it? And sadly I can't do anything with these lags. Sorry.
MrMateczko
Too bad these Trails lags on my computer. Crap Radeon + Trails = lags. It's the same deal as with GTA III. But I don't mind. It sure now looks like on the PS2 VC videos on YouTube. Nice job! Have another bunch of 's. Polacy lepsi od Ruskich w robieniu modyfikacji do GTA! Perhaps THAT'S the reason R* cut it?And sadly I can't do anything with these lags. Sorry. ThirteenAG has released a script mod that causes lags and he advises to use some fps adjuster to lock it to a good frame rate. Maybe that will work in this case? Silent
Can it be re-created? I'm not very good with RenderWare functions. I'm afraid I have no reply 'no'. ColorMod is a nice replacement for Trails though.

Silent
ColorMod doesn't have trails, but I'm referring to the overall atmosphere it gives. IMO it's a fair replacement.

Hope this doesn't sound dumb but do you ever consider that SA on PS2 might of had trails? Basically what I mean is, it has trails, and you can't turn them off. It could explain why the PS2 SA looked the way it did.

Anyways, I like the visual effect this gives, but there's a strange bug in it. Sometimes, a specific area near the center of the screen with a very distinct shape shows up and keeps flickering by itself. Most people probably don't notice this one, as it's not that visible. Also, aiming with the sniper will automatically turn off the trails, I don't know if this happened in the PS2. Still, very nice mod. œaœa
You're on a role man. But yeah, SA did have the trails option and it sucks R* took it out. If there is the slightest possibility it can be recreated I would highly appreciate it.
Ash_735
Are you guys sure about Trails on San Andreas, I'm booting it up here and there is no Option for it, are you sure you're not getting confused about the PS2 Timecyc and Reflective Options (and Sun Glare) that gave the PS2 version it's own kind of feeling? Well, I'm thinking that the trail thing could be a possibility. Same goes when you compare the PS2 version of LCS and VCS to the PSP versions. But also, SA had different textures than the PC/Xbox version. Most noticeable is the roads in SF. Also this may sound dumb and I know its more complex then I make it sound, but there is a small chance that the feature could be ripped from VC's exe and put in SA's exe. They both run render ware and have identical file formats. Another thing I heard, but is off topic from the trails. My friend told me that there was a song on the PS2 version of SA that was cut from the PC and Xbox. It was on K-DST. Didn't know about this but I know that III had a song cut from Double Cliff FM, and VC had a song cut from Flash FM. Link2012
Freaking awesome. The first time I saw this game on a game shop it was really "alive" with those colors, I just gave my money to play that alive game (Well, that was my first contact with GTA, never had played or heard of it), sometime later, when a friend gave me a disc with this game to PC it was not that "alive", maybe my video card, but now I know, wasn't my video card fault. GamerShotgun
It's a cool modification, but I have a question. Is there any way to make the droplets on the picture more like the Xbox version? Because that is just... pure awesomeness. I'll post a video of it if needed. He's lying, no songs have been cut from SA, it's the only game out of the big to NOT have any Music Licence problems. edit: @MasterK That's just a new texture like the fire effects, and it's set to cover the screen more. GamerShotgun
I know what you mean, but is it possible to be done? Because as far as I see, it has an effect which makes it look like a real droplet (things rendered behind it bigger, or smaller).

In the past when i tried trails enables by exe hacking, i didn't have any lags, and this time after applying your .asi mod, ...i still don't have any lags, seriously there is none FPS drop moreover i use ENB with antyaliasing , reflections, and custom color palette and some other corrections, there are still no lags ...but maybe using squiddy's fps adjuster .asi seems to be the answer why my gameplay sticks around 60 fps without slowdowns
Silent
Lags? What lags? It stopped lagging after I've rebooted my PC, so nvm. But this option DOES make VC more resource-consuming.
MW_29
Yes, indeed i see while playing on laptop. But one thing could be fixed. Silent
They are set to Off after the first mod launch*. Then, the option is stored in gta_vc.set, just like all the other options. * Just checked, it works as it should.
