there's always gonna be modders and hackers on both console platforms, unfortunately we can do nothing about it, Rockstar might be able to do something about it, but they've not mentioned anything about MP yet, so lets just wait and see.

That's what I love about R*. They answer some of the dumbest & most rudely put questions on Newswire, with a completely non sarcastic & respectful reply. Instead of banning cheaters, they only let them play with other cheaters.

I wasn't aware that modded PS3's could go online on the PSN.. are they still able to do this?

I've never encountered hackers on IV, though last time I played IV online on PS3 must've been at least a year ago.

There's 3 types of cheating (that i can think of)

 

1. Mod console - Microsoft deals with type by instand banning - Jtag consoles don't go on xbox live

 

2 - Using modified/downloaded - game saves, etc - This is the type the game developer would probably have to deal with? Perhaps in conjuntion with microsoft

 

3 - Those exposing and using game glitches to their advantage in an abusive way - This again is a game design issue, and developers would either have to patch it, or make a decision - like all people who use this methods can play together (cheater server).

 

That's what I understand anyway, I may be wrong. But what I do know first hand is Jtag console (on the most part - 99%) can not go online and join xbox live - just not possible with the checks Microsoft have in place.

Another reason why I will buy GTA V on PS3.

GTA4 on ps3 is full of hackers

setting people on fire / teleporting players / attaching trees to players etc.....

 

Though all the console hacks we're porting from PC, using modtools like openIV.

 

So if its released on console first i believe it wont be exploited for a while.

Truth is, there are less hackers on PS3. Of course, most on PC.

I never encountered a hacker on PS3, I encounter multiple every time on PC. Albeit the PC has superior graphics PS3 has superior safety

Jtags/RGH consoles can't go online anymore, if you do you will brick your console by letting MS blow your efuses. (I own a devkit and a Jtag) - Not to worry, already pre-ordered the game for PS3

No. Xbox is innfested with hackers because it's simply too easy. On PS3 you're in for a good challenge if you want to go at it, plus a way higher chance of getting cought. Only real hackers an mod a PS3, with the help of some kind of machine you have to buy, but the higher chance of getting cought remains. On Xbox, every single person can hack it. Not that hard, not necessary to buy equipment like the PS3, so infested with hackers.

exactly! i don't think they need a ban, but i do think everyone should have the same odds when playing online. R*'s solution with the cheater pool is a win for both sides and keeps the playing field level.

 

everyone says R* supports modding and this is proof they do. if they didn't they would just ban them.

 

now they are free to mod away with their own kind.

The 360 version of GTA IV wasn't hacked for almost 2 years or so after it released... as for the PS3 I only started seeing hackers this year honestly throughout the whole release cycle.

 

Maybe V will be just like that? Then again RDR isn't hacked from what I've seen nor Max Payne 3 so I guess their security got better.

In the 4 years of playing GTAIV on PS3, i have yet to meet a hacker (spawning objects like trees as people mentioned), if i have met one, its someone using god mode or aimbot or whatever, something that may seem like the player is better than me or there's terrible lag etc... Granted i am only level 6 online, but i have played it from time to time since releases (most recently a few days ago), so have enough experience with the game.

 

But what i want to know is how do people get new skins that aren't in the game to work, wouldn't other players have to download the skins first to be able to see them? Because i have never seen a dinosaur (raptor with skin, not just a skeleton) in the game before, so where does that skin come from? (unless there is actually a skin in the game that i don't know of).

One of the guys I talk to on the Twisted Metal boards has claimed hacking in GTA IV on the PS3 for years now. In fact, he's a PS3 fanboy and even he's said numerous times that the console is a hackfest. That was one of the big reasons why I chose a 360 over a PS3 in the first place. It wasn't until I came here that I've read about the 360 getting hacked harder, and that's years or research and talking amongst gamers. And for anyone saying the PS3 doesn't or can't be hacked anymore is full if sh*t. Twisted Metal was a cheater fest within a month, which was the final straw and why I sold my PS3 in the end.

 

I won't sit here and say the 360 is flawless, either. My son and I were playing GTA IV MP a couple of weeks ago, and ran across a room where someone was spawning buildings and ramps in mid-air, and had an indestructible Sultan RS with orange neon lights underneath. It was the first time I'd seen hacking like that in the game, though. It's usually assholes with unlimited health or some other form of game-breaking cheat.

 

In the end, the game will be hacked on all three platforms. Some of you need to grow the f*ck up and stop trying to turn every thread into a f*cking console war.

the dinosaurs (t-rex and another one) are static objects in the game. Modders have scripted them to be used as vehicles

I have only seen one hack on the PS3. Some guy was able to user a Niko model and he was invincible. It pissed a lot of people off and we all reported him. We werent even able to kick him.

 

I am sure Rockstar will fix this problem and hackers will be kept to a minimum. Ad I think they will have a cheaters server just like they did with Max Payne 3.

i used to stay in games with mods as long as the minded their own business...until my game crashed. now i just leave if i see any.

Easier? Nah. Maybe with some kind of equipment. Xbox is easier and has lesser chance of getting cought. That's why Xbox is crawling with hackers and on PS3 I have seen one hacker in the 3 years I've been playing a variety of popular games.
