Seasons in GTA V.

Not sure if this has been discussed yet but wouldn't it be cool to have a season change during the mid game storyline? I was hoping it would become winter, and having snow drop, and also snow on streets, roofs and mountains.

EDIT: nevermind the snow, I had no idea there was never snowdrop in cali during winter.

It's in a Mediterranean like climate. Snow in LA is very rare.

Yes, rain and storms. Snow? No thanks.

Although Snow wouldn't make sense in LA, but what's wrong with snow?

I like snow in video games, its an easy way to drastically change the scenery.

1. This wouldve been a better feature in IV, because it does snow in New York.

2. There is still a tiny possibility of snow in the mountains of LS

3. Why would season change depend on the story? It should simply be a continuous feature.

4. This has been talked about MANY times.

There's Mt. Chiliad, so there might be snow up there as well as the possibility of snow storms. All of this unconfirmed as far as I know, but still a possibility.

First of all, the game is set in summer and I think we all know that there is only like a 1% chance of there being seasons in V.

Second, it's Southern Cali.

It does snow in California in the right places. Example: Big Bear California. There is of course the occasional rare snow in other places around the state and it seems to be snowing here more often each year and with worse storms. ( Global warming maybe? )

Yeah I was thinking about it. Before GTA 4 came out, I thought we would have a lot of snow at one point of the game. Liberty City is New York, and it snows ALOT in NYC

I was thinking more about random tremors and small earthquakes, but I know that's stretching it.

Liberty City would have been the place for snow. You can even see Niko's breath if you're just standing still. I always thought it'd be awesome to get a random blizzard, and make the driving physics a lot slicker. I mean, I don't know about you guys, but by the end of the game, my in-game days span almost a year in every game. Multiple seasons could be showcased easily, since the game tracks days. All they'd need to do is establish a starting date, and after (x) days played, start to switch the weather up. But it wouldn't make much of a difference in LS, being SoCal.

Where's your source for the game being set in the summer? I don't recall any mention of what season the game is set in.

On topic, what about rain? I'm in the UK so I have no idea about the weather in LA, do you get lots of rain? I hope enough to justify its inclusion, because one of the things I loved about GTA IV and RDR was how gorgeous the worlds looked during rain and thunderstorms, it really brought it to life. If it's sunny all the time in the game it won't be the same, even VC which was set in R*'s version of Miami had plenty of thunderstorms and rain to go with the sun.

I think seasons would be brilliant, being chased around the ridge of a mountain road when icey and/or snow covered would be a good laugh! Seeing what happened to your pursuers would be funny too.

It would be fantastic for it to be used in a GTA game.

For

It changes road conditions kinda giving us another whole set of roads

If people changed their clothes due to different weather and temps it would be icon14.gif

The scenery would change

Peoples behaviour could/should change (people shoveling snow from driveways, snow ploughs would come out etc, road closures, I know peeps may not like this, etc)

Different mission scenarios

Harder to see (if snowing etc) meaning it would add to the immersive feel of the game etc

Against

Well why NOT add it - it adds more to the game

I doubt the presence of seasons, but I do think there's a possibility of seeing some snow at the highest elevations in the game, like on the top of Mt. Chiliad and perhaps some other really high peaks. It helps ensure that there is a huge variety of environments in this game, which is something I think R* is striving for in GTA V. If that's the case, the game might be set in the fall as in many previous GTAs, since it still needs to be during the colder months for that to happen in SoCal (I think, anyway), and the days can still be extremely hot, which allows for the greatest variety in weather conditions. But it's GTA, so they could really do anything.
