Dan said the game will be as the length of Red Dead which is only about 50 missions, and thats half the missions of any other GTA, which in my opinion is kinda sad, i want a long story ! sad.gif what do you guys think ?

Can anyone confirm what the OP is saying? With perhaps a link.

If it is true, well it doesn't seem right especially when we got three different protagonists on hand. By the way people, stop putting RDR spoilers.

oh..its true, try look at all the interviews that are placed in the news section, i dont remeber in which interview he told it though

It does seem a tad bit short. However, if that's what it takes to have a HUGE map with lots of detail, then I can live with it.

he never said anything about amount of storyline missions, if he did i wouldn't miss it, because i'm looking for news, checking and updating GTAForums page and GTAV.net site like there's no tomorrow, so it wouldn't pass me by without my concern, not something as valueable as this at least...what's been mentioned is HOURS, needed to complete story...i guess that number is average...

Watch the idiotic comments flock

"Wat it shud be 100 hours its gta!!

"That is too short it will take 5 five hours to do"

about average, GTA IV was 40-50 hours and RDR was about 15-20 hours, if you look up what most people have said what time they completed the game the first time.

Quality > Quantity.

R* said mission variety is of great importance this time, so I'd much rather have 50-60 missions that are very well done, instead of a bunch of drive and shoot missions like in GTA IV. From what I remember, Dan said that the game is 25 hours. GTA IV was a little longer at about 30 hours and it had 90 missions. So expect around 75 missions for GTA V, which is plenty. Plus, you won't be playing straight through the story in a single session because there will be a huge map with a ton of activities.

I would myself rather have 40 or so missions, that have some bulk to them, with two or three layers to each mission. Remember the mission being shown to the press it has you metting up with the three protags, fying over to the building, rappelling down, then taking out the guys after the hostage is captures, while then flying a helicopter and being chased by one, and you have a couple options as to what to do with this one mission.

So with this small sample, it has a couple layers to it, and one would think the heists will have many layers to them, going through the process of a couple steps to complete the mission.

To people who are worried about the number of missions: Maybe less is more.

If you remember from past GTAs, there always seemed to be about 5-10 great missions, 20-25 good missions, and the rest seemed to just be fillers. You could have 100 missions in the game and only 25% or less would be memorable. Maybe, just maybe, instead of a lot of dull missions, they'll have a larger amount of good-great missions.

Plus who knows.. Maybe side missions such as random peds are a bigger deal than they were in IV. The missions that the random peds gave out were almost always boring.

EDIT: Obviously people before me commented similarly. yes, Quality>Quantity sums it up nicely.

...thats actually one of the main reasons to worry! missions sold as DLC these days...i want "complete edition" day 1 - the moment i buy the game, not when i invested 300+ hours into it, get bored and don't wish to play anymore...

To add onto this, I imagine the missions will be longer too. So 50 long missions is a lot better than ~90 medium-length missions.

I doubt there will be only 50 missions. I would be happy with 90 or so, considering that we will have multiple protagonists that will add replayablity to game.

Exactly this here, I would 100 times over rather more variety than the IV style missions, San Andreas may have had a ridiculous and kinda lame storyline but at least the missions were fun and varying, 25 hours is plenty for storyline, most campaigns are well below that, and too long and it drags out a bit.

Also someone mentioned 3 part missions, those are great, it's not just one objective, you do several things in one, which technically could be classified as more than one mission.

...people please stop mentioning those 50 missions...its been never said the game is going to have that much missions at all! he just mixed that up that with amount of storyline hours!...

I forgot how many missions RDR had but it felt long to me, and I was playing it none stop and it took about 2 full days to beat it.. that's pretty good IMO so it doesn't bother me if V is the same.

GTA is turning into an RPG.

bored.gif To be honest you deserve to be flamed.

OT: At least it's not only 10 hours of gameplay. I swear, will there always be at least someone complaining for everything?!

Probably in the minority here, but i really don't care about missions in GTA. Can't remember the last GTA i actually beat. I usually just free roam and find fun sh*t to do.

Best we just ignore these whining threads. No matter how awesome something is, there is always going to be whiners.

This seems really weird to me... Rockstar added 3 protagonist instead of 1 so how can the story line be so short? I'm starting to hear more dissapointed news lately.
