Wonder if there will ever be a GTA in the

If I was to put my money on the location of GTA VI, I'd probably go with a re-work of Vice City, as its probably the most popular single city after Liberty City, and many GTA Fans favourite.

I'd still like to see my suggestions above come to fruition though smile.gif

RIP Rockstar Games

I Shot The Sheriff

Some Manchester, Liverpool or Bristol replicas in the 80s would be cool, This Is England style.

If the next game is Vice City, or even if it isnt, i think a lot of people think San Fierro and Las Venturas are a possibilty, and they really are.. any of them could take place in the past.

But once thats done, the possibilities are endless. With the new systems coming, they may decide a bigger, better Liberty City is the right way to go.

If I were R*, i'd wait until the next next generation of consoles are released to make an entire map of San Andreas, Vice City, and Liberty City combined. By then, technology will be so far advanced that anything is possible. They could make each island farther apart than a river or canal separating them... They could actually add a 2-3 minute flight between them. But thats really to far to speculate on. Fun thinking about it though..

Its not what the fans want though. It is about having a perfect story with a perfect setting.

What is really the point of adding those cities if the story is not up to par?

Adding those cities would be like going backwards imo.

I really hope we get a new city for the next game.. I know many people want to go back to Vice City, and believe me, a part of me wants to go back there too, but it would have to be set in the eighties again or it just wouldn't have that... you know.. that thing (See what i did there?) and it would probably be a bit disappointing.

Another part of me feels that San Fierro and Las Venturas should be revisited, but are they strong enough cities to carry an entire game on their own? I'm not so sure..

At some point they will surely feel the need to branch out and do a new city though one would assume.. But where in the USA is strong enough to carry a game.. Maybe for the next installment they should do a re-imagined deep south.. I think that would be pretty special, and would fit the GTA feel perfectly.

Who, at any point, said those cities wouldn't or couldn't have the perfect story and setting?

Those cities DO exist, so theres no reason why R* couldnt return to an updated version of them, considering thats exactly what they like to do.. and I've heard a lot of fans saying they'dlike to return to any of the previous cities..

I may be misunderstanding what you mean, i dont know..

After seeing This threadi got my self thinking...

After reading that thread honestly i had the same idea for the next GTA, a futuristic setting (something ala Total Recall) where 'over-the-top' elements wouldn't seems to out of place (ex; jetpacks, laser guns, etc..).. But after reading all the negative reactions from the forum, I'm glad i didn't make a topic myself (maybe i will in general gaming)...

OT: But to be honest i think IMO, the next GTA will most likely be a present day Vice City (where everything is still art styled like the 80's, almost like the city moved on but the inhabitants are stuck in denial) on next-gen consoles, seeing as Miami's terrain and geography is quite 'simple' in comparison to say SF or LV, R* can use it as a testing grounds for improved lighting and physics in preperation for GTA VII, a three-city based location in Northern California done SA-style incorparating San Fierro, an Oakland/San jose hybrid city and Sacramento.

Going by this pattern it would leave Las Venturas left for a fresh start on the next-next gen consoles with (once again, as in the same case with LC-HD, VC-NextGen) LV being the new testing grounds for that generation (especially since its reletivley a small city). Now after this, only God knows where R* will go next...

It seems like each numbered GTA (starting at III at least) is present day, while the other games in the same era are different timelines (with the exception of the IV era). It is a possibility.

Originally I would've said they'd never go as far back as the 60's or 70's because it limits possibilities due to the lack of technology back then, but then I saw what they did with RDR which was set in the early 1900's and I realized that R* could probably squeeze blood out of a stone if you gave them one. In light of that, I'm sure they could do a game set in 1960's or 70's San Andreas/Vice City, they're certainly interesting times in American culture (and it will almost definitely be in America, Houser already said the magic of GTA is mostly based on American culture when he was asked about expanding to Europe in the future). The next two games may be set in LV and SF, respectively, or they might combine the two into GTA VI. I'd like to see one set in the 70's personally, the 60's although possible would be too tame whereas the 70's was pretty much the birth of sex and violence becoming "popular", not to mention the fact that the mafia were still very prevalent and powerful during that time. They've done the 80's already, and the 90's, so the logical choice would be the 70's in my opinion, either that or going way back into the 30's for a Prohibition-era GTA but that's unlikely due to similarities to the Mafia games, low quality vehicles etc. Houser also more or less ruled out the likelihood of a GTA set in the future any time soon because he saw no reason, so if I was a betting man I'd say if in fact they choose to do another one set in the past, it's gotta be the 70's. If not, probably the present day again.

I wouldn't mind Miami again however after reading up on the gang culture I have to say I think Boston is potentially a great new setting and I want to see rockstars take on it, maybe go back to the 80's or even modern day? (80's I would much prefer) if you look at the cities history they had/have a huge mob presence there especially Irish mobs which is why I would'nt mind it being set there. After seeing the Mcreary's in IV it would be an interesting fresh change having an Irish American protagonist and maybe a story involving mob wars and other stuff.

Just a thought.
