xxkollioxx
I downloaded and installed a mod, but after about 5-10 minutes of playing GTA:SA, it crashes to my desktop? Is there any solution to this? My game version is v1.
lil weasel
Yes. V1.01 is not modable. Clear everything out and reinstall the DVD v1.0. Then don't patch it with the Patch v1.01 and you're set to go.
xxkollioxx
Will it erase my game data?
lil weasel
Uninstalling the Game doesn't affect the files in the Document folder. BUT the saved games might not run without the patch, I don't know for sure. I do know the Official Patch v1.01 was to fix problems in the game and to Prevent modding. xxkollioxx
Alright, thanks! So what i gotta do is uninstall the game and re-install it?
Celestail
Yes and don't worry the saved game will be okay Remember the version has to be V1 for mods to be usable, downgrader patch can do that for you if you have V2 version

lil weasel
Are telling us you stole the game from Torrent/Warez/Pirated? You don't own the V1.0 DVD?
siberianfox
@ lil weasel: I didn't mean to post in an inappropriate forum, I'm the last one to be hasty, and I didn't overlook the "main menu MODDING choice" nor "THE MODDING FORUMS!" banner. Perhaps you're being a little hasty because if you take little time to look closely at the original asker's post you'll see that he himself had a mod in his game when it crashed and that's why I posted here, thus I'm not attaching my problem to another's. I always check that I'm posting in the correct forum, trust me.

Maybe best to PM him and this topic should be moved to the "Modding section" as mods are involved Lil weasel you should know this: Modding questions belong in the modding forums! And also The San Andreas Forum is for UN-modded game questions, and problems. In Your haste to post You must have missed the Bottom Main Menu choice for MODDING. And obviously the Banner lettering: Modding questions belong in THE MODDING FORUMS! Where You click on the underlined words. That’s where You can find Players who ARE dedicated Modders, they are more likely to give You some assistance! Be careful to post in the correct forum topic, as they can get persnickety about that. Weasel has that prept, i see him post that exact text from time to time Edited November 29, 2012 by Celestail
Spartan_468
But my version is 1.01 Steam...? Anyway, save games are stored on "My Documents/GTA San Andreas User Files", but i think you can delete them if you tell the unistaller to do so. You do not keep back-ups of your saves? You are going to regret it sooner than you think...
aStiffSausage
Steam-version is 3.0. And, installer doesn't delete your savefiles, and there isn't even an option to force installer to delete the files. You can be sure that your savegames will be there after re-installing. siberianfox
Would someone help with this San Andreas problem? Everytime I install a mod, the game crashes/freezes after very few minutes of playing. I uninstalled the mod, and it kept crashing, so I uninstalled and reinstalled the entire game, ran the .exe as an administrator and tried all compatibility modes with no luck. Still crashing, until I deleted the gta_sa.set file. After that, I could play and it didn't crash so far. I decided to install a car mod, but the game started crashing again. The question is: what the f*** is wrong with my gta_sa.set? It's annoying to delete it and reconfigure all the settings everytime a mod is installed. I have v1.00 which is supposed to be compatible with mods.
aStiffSausage
My best guess is you have buggy mod. Just remove the mod, re-install and try with some other mod.

Thanks oksa8 for your reply. I've seen the mod working perfectly with millions of other mods on other pc's, and the problem persists even when I tried another mod (I used one mod at a time=I delete all mods before trying a new one). I even tried no omods at all and it's still crashing. Could it be anything else? Edited December 14, 2012 by siberianfox
