Th3MaN1
1. GTA 3 It's not only nostalgia, not the soundtrack, but the overall gameplay. Sure, every game is only better with more and better things, but let's not forget that free-roam games first priority is to provide freedom, not content, which GTA 3 excels any other GTA and any other game at. 2. GTA SA Sure, I said that that it's the free-roam is what's important, but having lots of features is another priority. SA puts you in a very big, nice enviroment full with activities and lots of player, along with side-missions. 3. GTA Vice City Every GTA has it's own timeline, and all games recreates them well, while SA had the "gangsta" feel and enviroment from the ghetto up to the casino's, GTA did best recreating it's own timeline, the 80's. 4. GTA 4(along with TBOGT and TLAD) GTA 4 bought us GTA 3 in HD. TBOGT was the same, but with more content, weapons, vehicles etc. 5. GTA Vice City Stories From all the handheld games (LCS, CTW, Advance) this one pushed the PSP to it's true limits(not literally).

Cyfa
Vice City Stories was the sh*t because it did everything right in terms of the Economy. Rockstar has failed to ever even touch something that great since and it's very disappointing.

Okay, I can agree you put GTA 3 at number one for nostalgia reasons and being the first sandbox game. But cmon, the gameplay? GTA 3 does not excel other GTAs and other games with freedom. That's pure bullsh*t.

For me, it's the only GTA where I shoot people for fun, drive around for fun, fight against the police for fun, unlike the other GTA's where even through SA had a f*ckwad of things to do, I only did them for the rewards( money etc.). IMO, it excels other games at freedom, you think it doesn't, and i'm OK with that.

I think it's the best GTA game ever made. I Played all GTAs on my PC so I didn't had a chance to play it. I would put GTA 1 on 5. place simply because it's the first game in the series. If GTA 1 hadn't been such a success and such good game then we wouldn't have GTA3, GTA:SA, GTA:4...

NCONiall
1. GTA VC When it comes to games I always go for atmosphere over content and that's why Vice City is my favourite. It was the first 3D GTA I played and so it holds a bit of nostalgic value to me. I may not have lived through the 80s but I absolutely love anything that was made in the 80s, be it music, movies etc... Tommy Vercetti was also a very likable character and he's my favourite protagonist of them all. He had power and anger. 2. GTA IV Again the reason I love IV so much was the atmosphere. It may have been modern but the storyline was superb as well as the character depth. It's like the mature brother of the series and in that way the atmosphere it created for me was amazing. In my opinion I believe GTA IV to be Rockstar North's magnum opus at the moment. 3. GTA SA SA is probably considered the best and I can see why. It introduced so many features, the most notable for me, swimming and aviation. It was the first GTA I bought on release and it's the one which shocked me the most. It's storyline was good too but it was a bit over the top in some parts. 4. GTA III III for me was the hardest GTA of them all. When I first played it I got up to the mission, "Payday for Ray," and I could not finish it in time; I was such a bad driver. If I remember correctly I didn't properly finish the game until around 2004/5. Despite it's difficulty I really enjoyed the story and I loved Claude(at the time I though he was called Fido) and I always tried to do something to hear his voice, like getting shot but to no avail. The only thing I didn't like about the game was the lack of aviation. Since I played VC first I really liked the idea of flying in a game. 5. GTA2 I played this at a friends house; it was the first GTA I ever played and I found myself addicted to this game. I never did any of the missions, or jobs because I was too young. Instead I'd just ask my friend were the tank was and he'd tell me. I then proceeded to destroy the city until I got, "red money," as we called it and then onto the next level. Oh and I always loved pressing TAB . I really enjoyed this game and I really want to finish it properly some day. If what Rockstar says about GTA V are true then chances are it's going to make my list. Edited November 30, 2012 by NCONiall

Shah Sam
1. GTA SA I just loved this game. This was the first GTA game i played. I have never finished the storyline, but i liked the part of the story that I finished. I loved the three cities, everyone of them had their own magic. I loved to drive in the countryside, while listening to K-Rose. I also really liked the radio, all the cheats, badlands, deserts and Mt. Chilliad. The gang-wars was awesome! This gaming-experience was awesome, and i know GTA V wont top it, but I am sure that GTA V will be better than GTA IV. It was cool to find new things everytime i played the game, like the desert-cave and the gigantic Vinewood safehouse. 2. GTA IV. Better graphics and more games and details. I didnt like LC as much as SA, the whole city were grey and boring. On a scale from 1 to 10 the story will get 7 (I think the GTA SA story was much better). This game is also not so free as GTA SA. 3. GTA VC. I havent played the story yet, so this is third place. I like the atmosphere and the radio. I havent played any other GTA titles

abottig
1. III 2. IV/EFLC 3. San Andreas 4. Vice City 5. GTA 2 III will always be #1. But every GTA is the best. Hard to believe: I started with GTA 2 when I was 15 years old. Almost 13 years later, GTA is an international sensation. GTA V will be the finest achievement in video games until GTA VI. HeliWolf420
GTA Vice City IV + EFLC San Andreas III Handhelds I'm still playing Vice City regularly, ten years on. Can't see myself ever not playing it. There's only a few pieces of media that I can say that about. The full IV package is probably the perfect GTA graphics, environment detail and physics wise, what R* have been trying to make all along. But for me the story ending left me a little cold (or at least IV itself did, LATD and BOGT were pretty awesome for different reasons) the phone and friends was awful and there is absolutely not enough stuff to do after you finish the story. Whenever I play any of them now I'm not doing anything new to IV or the DLC, I just steal cars and drive around and shoot people and I've been doing that since the first Grand Theft Auto.
