I Am Spoonbender
The problem with people saying it "failed" is that they compare the game with SA, wich is TOTALLY different, because it was anothe era of sorts, IV was HD, a new engine, Euphoria, etc... ... and f*ck all to do. except "cousin, let's go bowling, eh?" DeafMetal
I don't idolize any company in any sector. I'd buy any R* game without knowing a thing about it, or even what genre it's in. Does this make me crazy? Probably. All I know is that even if the game doesn't live up to expectations, it wasn't from a lack of effort (as some individual would like you to believe). Agreed. There has been one single meh game from Rockstar's I've ever played: The Italian Job. Everything else has been incredible.
Bitches_Brew
i would like to thank R* for allowing wal-mart to sell max payne 3 for $15. it's worth it. its gone down in price through lack of sales, nothing else. its already £18 on 360 here in the UK, which is pretty rare considering its young age, and that GTAIV/EFLC is still selling for £18 it's been $60 (PS3) here in the US since it came out, but on black friday they had it on sale for $15. most stores here are still selling it at the original price. Yeah they have published a couple of stinkers but everything they've developed themselves, has been top notch quality. They also showed that a game based on a movie licence can be absolutely amazing 'The Warriors'.

kj2022
GTA IV was a brilliant game, completely unparalleled in 2008, you just had to use your brain a little more than in san andreas to create a lot of fun, some people say there was nothing to do, but tbh, I spent countless hours in a high powered car powersliding on beaches seeing how many people i could hit before i stopped, it was fun as hell. Rockstar made the right call with IV, a little bare in terms of content, but overall fun factor once you learn how to use the physics to your ability was through the roof. Rockstar always makes great games, I've never played a Rockstar game I haven't enjoyed.

Racecarlock
You know, the reason I'm so hard on GTA IV is because I love the GTA series so much, and GTA IV seemed to cut back on everything I did love. No tanks until the DLC came out, bland gray city with no other areas, and most of all the only cool stuff you ever get to do is in missions that aren't re-playable, so I either have to keep a save of just before the mission or start an entirely new game. And it must be said that while I did eventually get used to the car handling it still feels a bit like I'm always driving on a wet road even though I'm on a dry one. Just because you can get used to it doesn't mean it's perfect. I'm hard on the GTA series because I like it. That's also why critics like yahtzee pick apart every flaw of a game whether they like it or not. First, it's their job, and second all their nitpicking could actually be heard and result in much better games. Constructive criticism is good. The worst thing you can do to an artist is tell them their work is perfect when it isn't. And GTA IV most certainly isn't perfect. It's good, but not amazingly fantastic. That's all I have to say. Honest Bill
Rockstar do tend to put a lot of effort in to their games and it's clear that's why they usually sell pretty well. Everyone knows that a GTA game will have high production values and this will be reflected in it's sales. That's the way game development should be approached in my opinion.. If the work is good enough it will be rewarded.

Zancudo
Sure they gain a lot of money on their games and a huge amount of great reviews but I think Max Payne 3 is underrated. For me, it's a very, very good game with great storyline, great gameplay, addictive multiplayer, and it somehow has 7.4 User Score on Metacritic. Should be like 8.5, at least. 73duster
I love Rockstar. They simply create AWESOME games. The very IDEA of open world gaming was revolutionary when GTAIII was released. I STILL remember the sheer amazement i felt when i first started that game. There are few things in life that can give you a sense of nostalgia like that game did for me. I felt the same way when i played San Andreas and Red Dead Redemption. GTAV is looking like it's going to be every bit as revolutionary as those games. Thanks Rockstar! P.S. Max Payne 3 is F*CKING great! I still play it every day.

Same with VC and SA actually. IV, MP3 and RDR are so fresh I didn't have a time to "build" a special sentiment upon them. But surely when V will come out, IV is gonna be what III was at the time SA was released. There's only ONE another franchise that I treat with so great respect - it's Metal Gear series. CTCCoco
Thank you, Rockstar, for putting so much work, effort and money into what you do. Every new game you release is fresh, ambitious and extremely satisfying while passing. You're not like those greedy bastards from other companies who release new games every 6 months while adding only a few new bits in them. You always bring us something surprising, exciting, amazing, and that's just great. Thanks, again . I just had to. They've earned it. They don´t do it for you to say "thank you Rockstar blablal". They do it for the tons of money that this will give.

Andreas
Yeah, indeed, thank you Rockstar Games. The quality of all their games is outstanding with all the attention to detail and all the massive effort that they put in all of their games. Instead of releasing a new sequel of their biggest titles every year as Activision do with Call Of Duty, they take some time and try to make a game that is really worth to buy and that is really worth its money. Every game that they create supasses every past game in their own unique way and I love them for it! GTA III was and still is a great game - that game was the first GTA in 3D and it was dark and gritty. The story was awesome and the radio stations fit to the atmosphere of the game. I like it how Catalina betrayed Claude and you are in the start of the game nothing than a simply human being, if I can call it like this, and then you have to "take-over" everything until you are rich and you are so far that you can revenge to Cataline. GTA Vice City was the first GTA with a real and well-made atmosphere. Even though I'm not a big fan of the music and the style of the people in the 1980s, GTA Vice City was damn great and it changed my mind a bit towards the 80s. When I played the game the first time then I was amazed by the neon-colors and I loved riding bicycles and flying helicopters. The story was exciting for me since you have to find out who has stolen your grass and at then you find it that your old friend has betrayed you. I don't have played much Midnight Club II but it wasn't a bad game and it was pretty fun. GTA San Andreas' graphics were superb in my opinion and I liked the gangsta-style, the long story, the great ammount of content, the huge ammount of vehicles. I was amazed by the ammount of different vehicles, weapons, peds and so on and it was the first Grand Theft Auto that had planes with their own physics so the Skimmer from GTA Vice City doesn't count I think. I couldn't believe how big the map was because it was so damn huge and it had three major cities! I have played Bully here and there when I was at the home of my best friend and it was really funny, at all when I have beaten some of the "schoolmates". GTA IV's graphics were superb and today, after more than four years they are still very good in my opinion. The physics of that game are amazing and shootouts with the police are a lot more funny and of course I have killed a lot time with messing with the physics. And also driving makes a lot more fun than in the previous GTAs and the weapon handling has been improved a lot. Midnight Club Los Angeles was together with Racedriver GRID the best racing game that I have played. I don't have played it completely but I have played it often and even though the driving "physics" were very arcade-like, it wasn't bad and it fits to the game. The two GTA IV add-ons The Lost And Damned and The Ballad Of Gay Tony are worth their money and by far the best DLCs that you can have for a game. Too bad that Rockstar said that they won't make DLCs of such a grand scale anymore but it's understandable. Now to Red Dead Redemption. I was never really interested in western movies and games but RDR changed my mind a lot. The graphics and physics are a big improvement compared to GTA IV and I think a western game was never as awesome as this one and it seems that I'm not the only one who thinks like this because before Red Dead Redemption was released, it was known that western-games and movies were never an outstanding success and the sales weren't good. But RDR changed this almost dramatically. The game sold since its release more than 12 million copies which was something very unexpected for anyone I think! The animations are already an improvement to the ones of GTA IV and I love the wildlife that was implemented in it. Max Payne 3 sadly wasn't that succesful if it comes to the sales and in my opinion that game deserves a lot better sales for all the effort that Rockstar was putting into the development of this great game. The graphics and physics are once again a big improvement to any past game from Rockstar Games and if you play it then you know why it took them so long to develope this great third-person shooter. It really shows how far Rockstar went with improving the engine. The character animations are very fluidic and simply perfect! I hope that GTA V's animation system will be more a mix between the ones of Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3. If that is the case then HOLY F*CK! I know that GTA V will be great in every aspect because the game will be that, what Rockstar learnt with the development of all the past games. I think that GTA V will be the best game of this console generation!
