assmillk
So i recently got rid of my old monitor and decided to use my 19 inch insignia LCD TV as my new monitor. I have it connected with a SVGA cable since my computer doesn't support any thing higher. At first the picture wasn't too good because i hadn't touched the resolution. After messing around with the resolution i finally found the best i could at 1360x768. Thats the highest i can get it to be supported anything higher or anything above 768 wont work. So everything is fine with this resolution exept for the weird shadowing i see next to text and icons. here is what im talking about. look at the ring around the right side of the firefox symbol. also this. look at the "reflection" of the exclamation point on the yahoo symbol. any ideas on how to fix this? EDIT: Found the problem. I just had to move the cable around lol. Edited November 25, 2012 by assmillk
OzzySM12
Look up what the recommended resolution is for your monitor. Some screens can behave strange when you use a resolution higher than the recommended. Also try another VGA cable, remembering if you pay cheap prices you get a cheap cable . Really though, since your graphics card only supports VGA, you could get a new card for £30-£50 which would be better than your current one and give you HDMI. Narcis_speed6
Your monitor should have a automatic-adjustment option, use it and see if the issue is solved.
Shoumaker
Can you try resetting your tv settings? There should be a default setting option, Your problem should go away.
Theodoro
Shadowing on the image would tend to suggest issues with the VGA cable, either it's not plugged in fully, it's too long or it's low quality. It's possible the TV settings are optimal either (TV's tend to expect you to be watching TV at a distance rather than using it up close as a monitor)
assmillk
i set it back to the native resolution of 1280 by 720 and the shadowing is still there and the picture is blurrier. also tried fitting the cables in more but that made it worse EDIT: Fixed the problem Edited November 25, 2012 by assmillk
Zxirius.
Try using another cable as stated above. You have to try everything when it comes to troubleshooting to properly narrow down the problem. Otherwise, there is no point in helping you. Also, post the model number of the TV you are using and we'll look up whether it has a history of issues with VGA. Ah, congrats on figuring it out. Make sure to mention that in your last post rather than your first for people keeping up with the topic.
