So, the game... What's the point? The things you do in there doesn't happen for real and you don't get money playing it... You waste money buying games...

Bitch please.

Because some people like to escape these concrete jungles that we call city's.

Okay OP, don't try to use your imagination. Don't use any thought process at all. Don't think for a second that some features will play a part in the countryside. Just think of it as same barren "backdrop" for the map.

I have this same concern. I'm really hoping that there are things to do in the countryside like hunting, fishing, and engagement with the environment.

SA was great but you couldn't do anything in these places.

I've been thinking about this as-well, I believe the point of the country side is for silence when you want to kill a few thousand prostitutes without getting stars. Think about it.

R* said this game is about the power of the almighty dollar, Money = Bitches, Period.

Big money, big bitches, big fun.

But my overall thought on this is that no matter what, GTA players always tend to find something to do, even if the game world isn't packed to the maximum with side things to do. Y'know what? San Andreas didn't have sh*t do actually do relating to the wilderness. No hunting, nothing. But some players still thought it was the best part of the world, simply for exploring and f*cking around. It's nice to have diversity in the terrain once and awhile.

If all else fails, just remember that you can end it all by throwing yourself off of Chilliad Peak. Remember kids, suicide is the answer to all of life's problems. icon14.gif

To explore. TC must not be the adventurous type. I'd love to drive around aimlessly in the countryside to see what's out there, especially if there's wildlife. I also want to try removing the HUD, parachuting in the middle of nowhere and trying to find my way back. That, and jumping off the mountain with a bicycle or car. I got tired of Liberty City. There was nowhere to breathe. I just wanted to be able to get away and in this game i can.

This is what I love about GTA. If players don't really like the countryside to much, they can stay in LS as much as they want. Or vice-versa. Or both. Or, you can now literally go live underwater for all we care. Nobody says you particularly have to enjoy the countryside and utilize it, but knowing that you can is what's truly amazing. Do whatcha wanna do, but keep in mind that you have a fairly diverse map to explore, and at least try out.

As much as I loved IV's concrete jungle, I was hoping for a change in terms of terrain diversity. (Even something as simple as Shoreside Vale would've sufficed.) But now, you can pretty much go wherever you want. Literally from the towering skyscrapers, to the peaks of the mountains, across the desert expanse, and into the depths of the ocean. I've seen a few people say: "Who the hell would want to do all of that?" The answer is someone. And that's what will honestly be one of the best things about V, in mine, and a lot of other people's opinions.

Because it's much more pleasing to the eye than urban environments, a place to relax and also tear up some trails with a dirtbike or ATV. Oh yeah, and the waterfalls and cliffs and sh*t .

Wow, I think this thread's ran it's course. You people are so very, very immature some times, I never said I didn't like the idea of countryside in the game - I was simply wondering if it'd serve a purpose. If you can't be asked to discuss what possibilities the countryside may hold please, get out.

I simply wondered if there would a be a reason for going there, either through the story or gameplay features; though I just can't see Michael a millionaire living up Vinewood and Franklin a repo-man wanting to go the countryside to hunt animals. All of R*'s games thus far that contain countryside have had a reason for you to go to, RDR was primarily countryside and SA forced you there after Sweet had been arrested.

So I'm wondering what will drive the characters not only gameplay wise but through the story as well to end up in the wilderness.

For all of you mentioning animals, we have no clue if they'll be in or not. Dogs might just be the only creature we get and we've pretty much been told everything we're going to get told about the game until very near release at this point.

"An ecosystem teeming with wildlife"

haven't you read the GI article?

I am confident a mission or two will take you to the wilderness and I am sure when roaming in the middle of nowhere you will encounter the random hillbilly who tells you that you have a pretty mouth.

Things to think of next time you start a topic. First do a search to see if topic already exists. Then do a Google search or read through the confirmed features on GTAV.net, before writing things like "For all of you mentioning animals, we have no clue if they'll be in or not." & lastly, don't title your topic provocatively "Countryside, what's the point?" just to get people's backs up.

Then you won't get a load of posts calling you an idiot.

In this article by the horses mouth itself. http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/13/gra...seen-mastermind

scroll down at the second paragraph where there is that pic with micheals face infront of the vinewood sign. biggrin.gif

Thank you, yeah I suppose it seems interesting - it's just a big worry that they'll screw up the countryside by not giving it it's own, flavour.

That wasn't too hard to find now was it.

omg... do you really want to have only a f*cking city?

I don´t even want to answer this.

No, of course not. Then again I'm guessing you've only bothered to read the title and nothing more, I'm thrilled about the inclusion of all these different ecosystems and environments but I'm wondering what will drive the players to go there both through story and gameplay.

Although I am drawn to ask, what's with R* only showing us dogs in the images/ trailers ? if there are other animals and R* thinks that animals would be a selling point (which they certainly are) why not show us some animals in video/ trailer form other then simply mentioning them.

Surely the appearance of more animals would only increase the hype currently surrounding the game, either that or they're waiting till close to the release of the game to let out a ton of info but it seems rather risky to keep building the hype and then letting it die. Then again I'm not Take Two and I'm not R* so I can't really say I know too much on the subject of viral marketing.

A little note, in future if you can't be bothered to read what I write down, please leave the thread as you're not really posting anything that helps.

If something as simple as grabbing a dirtbike and driving it off a cliff then diving right into a tree doesnt sound fun to you then youre in the wrong place here buddy................. You dont need a ''reason'' or a ''purpose'' to have fun in a game like this, thats the whole beauty of free-roam (or at least it is when its done right)

coyotes have been confirmed by GI, there is a snake in the trailer and 2 cows in the grapeseed screenshot.

If they made the wilderness fun in red dead redemption then i'm sure its going to be even better in gta 5, considering we will have more features and its in present day not 1911

You are so ignorant I don't know where to start.

Most of people haven't played tge games you mentioned.

All you need to have in a countryside is a vast space and a 4*4 with awesome physics.

But they have hinted strongly that there will be animals in the game. I would say it is kinda confirmed but still we do not know what wildlife animals we will see and of course nothing is confirmed until Rockstar says so.

“The setting of Red Dead Redemption meant that animals were a necessity for the ambient world - something we hadn't required in GTA previously”, says The Benz. “But because of the scale of the map [in GTA V] and the different kinds of areas involved, a countryside without animals would feel quite hollow.

Right, everyone stop quoting that post, I posted that I know animals are in now. I was told on the first page, so stop telling me something I already know.

How on earth am I ignorant, Red Dead Redemption's one of the most played games on these forums so don't give me that bullsh*t. We have no idea how the physics work or how the cars will drive so what on earth are you going about.

Look, I'm not saying that doing crazy stuff like riding dirt bikes of hills won't be fun. I'm simply asking what will make the countryside "feel" different from the cities. I mean we can already do what you've mentioned in IV and that was game with barely in greenery.

I'm hoping that we'll a countryside that feels like a countryside, that has a reason and purpose for being there, whether it be for gameplay or story reasons. Please for the love of all that is sanity stop presuming you know what I'm talking about just by reading the title, I'm excited for the wilderness just as much as anyone else - I'm just curious to know how it will work.

I'll give you that. As far as the story is concerned, we can only guess. The main theme is heists, so the countryside seems less important than the city for the story.

Concerning gameplay however, you know damn well the countryside is going to be so much fun.

Man, you just keep contradicting people And seem very negative and you don't seem to be showing much effort in trying to understand having countryside.

Countryside is brilliant for many things:

1. Variety. Variety is what keeps GTA fresh. Tired off all the noise, concrete, car horns, Peds shouting all the time? Go to the countryside. The countryside provides a completely different experience than being in the city. Its almost like having more than one game. There's a whole other atmosphere that will never captured in the city. Being alone at night. Walking by moonlight, through a wood on a murder mission. Mission variety and character variety is more prevalent. Well have country folk as well as city folk and the landscape variety will provide mission variety even if it's just aesthetically.

2. The sights. Driving through the countryside with a classic radio moment, sun rising up in the air, the sun striking gold lowly on the tips of the trees, painting the green pastures a more golden colour. Casting long shadows. Or seeing the moon at night as you drive a dark and creepy road by river waitin for your next victim. Nice f*cking views of big f*ckoff mountains. It's great seing huge objects and landscape in GTA

3. Roleplaying. Act out your favorite scenarios where stuff usually happens outside of the confines of the concrete jungle. One the run from the cops, wanted for murder in Liberty City and Vice City. You hide out in the woods or the desert. You steal and murder backpackers for money. You come in to the city and night to pick up supplies. You have to be careful though. There's gangs in the city that woul kill you And if you get stopped by the cops, you'll get life. sh*t like that. You may come back and say....yeah but you can do that in the city. I'll say no. I can't be in the countryside if I'm in the city, can I?

4. Missions/mini games. Countryside apt sports. Motocross race on scramblers. Dune buggy races. Excuse for interesting choice of vehicles. Tractors, harvesters. Possible hunting?
