GTAV Gameplay Video Series

For L.A. Noire and Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar did a series of gameplay videos to help explain some of the gameplay features and mechanics of those games. With GTAV being a paradigm shift of sorts in the series with the three playable characters, would you like to see similar gameplay videos?

 

Perhaps a video showcasing how the character switching works both during missions and in free roam. As Rockstar hinted towards a big focus on the multiplayer portion, would you like to see a gamplay video showcasing some of that, as well?

I think there should be a video featuring the new mechanic. But I'm hoping that it remains cinematic like the trailers rather than actual in game footage. I like the fact that there is no in game footage pre release.

I think showcasing how to utilize the three main characters in-game and a few spotlight modes in multiplayer would suffice. Anything else is too much.

I am torn between those two choices. I would LOVE to see more, but i don't won't it to spoil the wow effect. Oh well, just give me MOAR

You're taking that completely out of context. They didn't say there's a "big announcement" soon.

So they were talking about things in general, moving forward. They weren't giving any timely specifics.

yeah, that's what i meant, either way there are still going to be some big announcements some time soon.

I think the poll is a bit too simple... Id love gameplay vids that show some of the game mechanics as you've mentioned, but I don't want to see the any of the missions etc before the game has come out.

 

If you could for example just show off some of the new gameplay mechanics in free roam, and in locations already unveiled, then that'd be cool.

Hopefully they have enough content where they can keep showing us more periodically and still be able to keep some whammies secret. Like the guy said above i don't want to see any missions though.

I think the new shifting mechanic needs to be explained prior to release, not as a spoiler, but just so we know what we're signing up for. I'm sure it will clear some of the doubt.

I know I'm in the minority, but I voted no. Simply put, I can deal with trailers, but a straightup gameplay video this far from release, will just make me anxious and take some of the self discovery out of my hands. Truthfully, if or when they drop a video like this, I'll probably avoid it. I've waited too long to have someone just play it in front of me without me having the option to buy it. IMHO.

I'm in the middle. Don't want to spoil too much. I would like to see the switching between protags outside of missions. I'd watch that for sure.

I can't believe I missed this, but Dan Houser basically(kinda, sorta, not really) confirmed this in the GI article. It's definitely arguable, but it's interesting how he worded it when you consider how the "Gameplay Video Series" and "Design and Technology Series" videos are put together and what they're for.

Do you guys honestly think we'll get an article/interview for "each system"? We've seen this before for every last game R* has produced which started with RDR. Each of those games had gameplay videos for their mechanics/systems. I think it's very possible we'll see a few for GTA V.

Yes there should definitely be atleast 1 gameplay series video like red deads, i remember those videos getting me more pumped for a video game than i i ever had been while simply showcasing the enviroment and features without in the least bit spoiling the game, I would also love for them to bring back that narrator. A ll i want to see is a simple demo of the mechanics maybe they could even just release a video of the demo game informer and other press outlets got to see.
