Chukkles
What if the rappeling kit is the equivalent of RDR's Lasso and can be used anywhere to make the city and environment 100x's more accessible. It would be a smart move on R*'s part. Nice thought. To be honest, if they do include it in the game, I'm expecting it'll be more like having set points dotted around the map to "hook up to." I think it'd be kinda hard to be able to do it absolutely anywhere, but anything's possible at this point. I'd really like to see it able to be done anywhere as you suggested, but I would settle on it being similar to other side activities. A little animation of hammering a stake into the ground and you have a rappeling point. Yeah, I can easily see that working. What I don't see working is all of the glitches that would probably ensue from 'curious' players trying to rappel down an unsuitable location. What I mean by that is, like, hooking up to a 25 degree angle hill or something like that. As far as I'm aware, repelling would only work properly on fairly vertical surfaces. It'd probably be pretty amusing seeing clueless players attempting to hammer a point into a flat desert area, though. Good point, but it could be programmed to only work on the edges of cliffs and buildings. I'd just hate to see a cool feature go to waste in one or two missions. This is completely wishful thinking. KFranchise
Hopefully, they'll talk about this more. It sounds like a cool feature.

018361
Big maps AND rappelling? This isn't Grand Theft Auto. It's Grand Cause Auto!
Chukkles
you guys are asking for too much now. seriously. Really, think of the applications. Rappeling down cliff faces, off buildings and out of choppers. It fits into the world perfectly. It's not the hardest feature to implement and maybe it's michaels ability. Racecarlock
Big maps AND rappelling? This isn't Grand Theft Auto. It's Grand Cause Auto! Well if you want something totally serious with traffic laws and virtual fuel. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer...Themediacows%22 That game looks just your style. It doesn't have RAGE physics, but really if you want another bland grey brown new york adventure with even more realism than IV, mafia II aims to please. Just to remind me how insufferable a game made by some "GTA fans" could be.

Capricornus
I would not think too much into this. It could just be a feature that cannot be used outside of missions, and I am pretty sure that it will be that way. Much like the whole "open trunk" feature in GTA IV, only for a Mission given to you by Elizabeta. Don't get your hopes up, at all.
cant remember
I think the rapelling only works in the mission.
xWH1T30UTx
you guys are asking for too much now. seriously. Really, think of the applications. Rappeling down cliff faces, off buildings and out of choppers. It fits into the world perfectly. It's not the hardest feature to implement and maybe it's michaels ability. Agreed. Plus, I'd like to point out that this is all wishful thinking, the truth is, NOBODY aside from Rockstar knows at this point. They will ultimately decide whether this should be a one mission thing or not. 50/50 chance. We're simply speculating how the feature may look if they were to put it in the game. And to me, saying that it most definitely WILL NOT be in the game is as blind-sided as saying that it most definitely WILL. We don't know yet, and we need to stop f*cking making comparisons to IV, just like we need to stop making comparisons to San Andreas and so on. While V will still of course be a GTA game, it doesn't mean that it'll be exactly like the others in any way, shape, or form. Truth is, we don't know. Wild guesses and wishful thinking at best. Also, I have a question. To all of you saying that it absolutely won't be in the game: why the hell not? Even if you don't really think the feature will be fun for you, please try and keep in mind that others may find it fun, rather than completely shooting it down. We're not "confirming" this feature, we're speculating on what it would be like, and that it would be a good idea. KillaMoneyMike
No. Because it doesn't 'suit' all 3 protagonists. That would be R*'s reason anyway.
matt19811
No. Because it doesn't 'suit' all 3 protagonists. That would be R*'s reason anyway. You see micheal rappelling already in the trailer That IS one of his abilities the only question is will we be able to have fun with it or do it only once or twice and throw all the work that went into it away. With all that freeroam time you people couldn't find something fun to do with a rope and harness system?
Luddite
I was thinking about the rappelling feature. For years in gta we've had police rappelling onto us from hovering helicopters. Now that our protag is a trio maybe we could do that ourselves with Trevor piloting or in MP. Also the equipment is basically the same as mountain climbers. It would be cool if it can be used to descend from buildings mountains bridges helicopters blimps and anthing else.(up to an appropriate rope-length of course) The thread is way old. Have ppl canged their minds? Do you think it will be a mission-specific deal or perhaps more useful?
