NovHak
Dear forum readers and contributors, After having spent so much time trying to get back the road reflections I had with my old computer, I'm happy to find this ! But alas, it's clear the mod is untested with GTA SA 2.0, unless I'm doing something the wrong way of course : I load a savegame, come outside, trigger rain with the AUIFRVQS cheat code, but despite loads of water falling, the roads remain desperately dry. Here's how I installed the mod : copied reffix.asi and reffix.ini into the game root directory : "X:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas" in my case, as well as install Silent's ASI loader (v1.1), copying vorbisFile.dll (thus replacing the original vorbisFile.dll), vorbisHooked.dll and the script directory from the archive in the same place. But as said, it didn't work... FWIW, being french, I have a european version of GTA SA. Could this explain things ? I have Vista too, and an Nvidia 8800M GTX GPU... Advices are warmly welcome... Silent
Indeed, 2.0 EXE may be the case. If you own an original game, you could download a no-CD legally and enjoy a MODDABLE game (since 2.0 is pretty much unmoddable). Edit: The installation was correct, this way it's bound to work as soon as you have a different EXE
NovHak
Thanks for your replies ! I'm not keen on installing no-CD cracks despite it being "morally legit" since I own the original game, plus more comfortable because always needing that DVD inside is annoying. That's because of the illegal nature of these cracks, which implies there's no warranty of any kind that it doesn't contain any malware, such as one which would make me join a cybercriminal botnet without my consent, for instance. Eventually I rarely do use cracks, and only after having seen some friends use them for some time Moreover, you're advising a roll back to a previous version... would that be consistent with the other game files, among which some may be "2.0" too, after all ? And when I hear a higher version number, I generally hear bugs corrected too, or am I wrong ? So that's sad for me, but I think I will keep my dry roads version... But just in case, without taking too much on your time, can you describe what makes the road reflections fail ? From what I've read it would be related to a texture loading method working with old AGP cards but not PCI-E ones ? And in case you have ideas about it, do you think it may be corrected with a Windows compatibility fix used with adequate parameters ?

Ash_735
BTW I could not see the reflections on the road near the desert but in San Fierro. Can someone explains this to me ? If it's the same as Vice City, then very simple reason, Rockstar are lazy and forgot to tag the road. Happens in Vice City to (even on the PS2 version) where on the bridge between Ocean beach and Washington Beach, it just doesn't display any reflections. theNGclan
How would you even go about tagging the roads to display reflections, anyway?

Silent
That wasn't expected, but oh well. 1.01 has been released! The changelog is pretty short - all it does is adding SA 2.0 support (turns out 1.0 wasn't compatible with it) and also re-adds compatibility with XP SP1, XP without Service Packs and Windows 2000. Enjoy!

Silent
Windows 98SE no? If you give me an idea how to test it, maybe I think Windows 9x support was dropped in Visual Studio 2008 already and I'm using 2010. And unlike in Win2000 case, I think it's not done "artificially".
