Racecarlock
No eating, no fuel, no stupid DMV crap, no sitting in jail for an hour on every bust, no taxes, no virtual bill paying, none of that bullsh*t. No traffic laws either. I tell you, even the loose way they were handled in mafia II still annoyed the sh*t out of me. Traffic laws would probably be worse for the GTA series than making the protagonist a giant pink elephant that fires donuts out of its trunk. Not really, I think that would turn the game more realistic and quite interesting. More realism doesn't automatically mean better game. Take City Car Driving for example. You drive exactly how you do in the real world. No fantasy, no speeding, nothing. Then look at the sims. You eat, sleep, and go to work. And sometimes you get to redecorate the house. Oh yay. I could be slaying dragons or blowing up star destroyers, but those virtual dishes look dirty. Do you see what I mean? What's the point of having a fantasy if you're just going to imagine yourself in the same situation you are now? Why do you even have an imagination? Just a waste of DNA. But people do play City Car Driving (whatever the f*ck that is. I'm just making assumptions). And people definitely do play the Sims. Just because you and I (I do enjoy the Sims actually) don't like it, doesn't mean others don't. So this isn't really an argument. Of course, the Sims is the Sims and GTA is GTA. In the Sims, you do the dishes. In GTA, you shoot kneecaps. It should remain that way. But your argument is invalid.

Still though, if they already have these simulators and games like mafia II, why bother with turning this one into a sim as well? I'm just really afraid that if I let this one go, then what's next? Virtual dish washing in saints row? Taking the kids to soccer practice in Just Cause 3? Virtual DMV in Need For Speed? Having to tighten bolts and change oil in transformers? I just don't know. Supacoupe
Personally give me a lot of fun (gameplay) with a healthy dose of realism and let me choose how I want to play. Stuff like getting gas, eh, as long as I have the freedom to pour gas on the ground afterwards and light it, I'll be all for it. I just dont want it to be me needing to get gas without the freedom to pour gas elsewhere if I want. Everybody plays GTA differently anyway, so the only question for me woud be freedom not realism which in gameplay terms I hear realism as a buzzword for limits (for the record, I don't want a Saints Row type game either). I just want classic GTA with a healthy balance of both IMO .
motorider420
The PC version of GTAIV had those dynamic shadows you were referring to. They worked... ok... sometimes, but its a very intensive shading process and easy to mess up.
