gsbadreligion
We all saw Trevor smash that guys face in the bar, do you think this will be allowed in the game or is it just a cut scene.
Shoumaker
I think its just a cutscene, But I think the GI issue said the hand to hand combat is improved. Please corect me if im wrong.

TheJasonGallant
I hope it will be better then IV... Even if I loved the hand to hand combat in GTA IV. (Comparate to the other games)

xWH1T30UTx
Rockstar has stated that the combat will be improved. This could mean anything from a few minor tweaks to a MASSIVE change, such as adding Manhunt styled executions. Now that is something that I'd really love to see, but I'm thinking it'll be more along the lines of Vice City Stories, where you could hold people in a headlock and things like that. It was also pretty good in TBOGT; I liked the underground fighting thing. The combat will most definitely be an improvement over IV, though. You can expect that much. Dbliek
Not really about hand to hand, but I'm hoping there's also something that was in max payne 3, when you have a gun in your hand, he would do a brutal takedown wich ended in him shootiung the bad guy, would love to see this in GTA OT : I'm hoping the three different characters, have different and varied fighting styles, hand to hand, and while shooting

Darrel
Dan said himself. Melee wont ever take priority over the shooting mechanics, so we wont be getting anything as strong as it was in The Warriors.
xWH1T30UTx
Dan said himself. Melee wont ever take priority over the shooting mechanics, so we wont be getting anything as strong as it was in The Warriors. True. But he also said that it was time for the melee to be improved and refined. While it may not be as refined as the shooting is, I got the impression that it is still somewhat important in V. Also, OP. Dunno if you've ever played Manhunt 2, but there was a thing called "Environmental Executions." The basic idea is that you could drown someone in a toilet if you wanted to, or you could simply bash their head into the wall next to you. It was about utilizing the environment around you to kill people, as the title suggests. This is what I had thought of when I saw Trevor bashing that guy's head against the counter. I would love to see a similar mechanic in V.

tjbyrum1
Not necessarily like Sleeping Dogs... But a free-flow combat system would work. While in combat, X to attack, Y to counter, B to grab, and A to dodge. Would make a good system, considering free-flow always works so far. Batman, Sleeping Dogs, Assassin's Creed III, and other games have great combat, and it's all free-flow.

TheMisanthrope
I'd be fine with circle being like GTA IV but I would like it to be improved. It seemed a little slow for a street fight. But for some reason it was ever so entertaining to knock people out. One thing that would be cool in my opinion is you know the kicking where he sort of kicks the guy in the nuts they should leave that there but also make it so you can hold the square button down and he'll go for a head kick. I just think there should be a alternate punch and kick and than a power attack by holding either striking buttons down.... it was too repetitive is IV even the civilians all faught with the 2 same fighting styles flail the arms around or somewhat of a boxing style. ThisIsHorosho
...since R* said they aim to improve hand-to-hand aspect this time (though without going to much abroad with it...) i wouldn't be surprise if it'd ended up being not just a cutscene. However i'm willing to believe that this is not actual Trevor's fighting style (which seems like some kind of street brawl to me...), but rather his combative interaction with the environment, such as tables, chairs and others (anyone who played Sleeping Dogs knows what i mean...), but i think his overall fighting style will be something different, something hmmm...unexpected, but we'll see... Here we go again...LINK or its BS. he means that Houser said in GI article, that fighting style won't be drastically changed, what he misses though - is the fact that he also said it will still be improved...making ninjas out of characters wouldn't make any sense, by the looks of each of the characters alone, not to mention their motives and personalities... LBYN
Good thing too, that it'll be improved. The fighting system in GTA IV felt primitive. Not to say it was broken, but it didn't exactly flow. Basically, it came down to punch, step back, punch, step back, get punched, push the opponent, recycle, rinse, repeat, et cetera. Everything about it was stiff and ridgid. I have no doubts that it will all be improved upon, but they should pay closer attention to it, as it is a major component to the gameplay and the feel/atmosphere of the game. TOMAHAWKS
I hope they took notes from The Warriors when they we're brainstorming ideas for hand to hand combat. I hope not. That game is AMAZING by definition if you ask me. The combat system of the chain! I honestly wouldn't want that in a Grand Theft Auto game. I just don't think it would fit.
