BrijG
Clouds.....the only thing that BF3 did right. Volumetric clouds would be a nice addition to V and before anyone says, it is possible on current gen consoles *points to BF3's Alborz Mountains*

xWH1T30UTx
I think we can all agree that the real reason Michael moved to Los Santos was the clouds. ...Or maybe Trevor was a pilot in BF3, and he got sick of the clouds. Sense. This makes some. Edited November 25, 2012 by xWH1T30UTx
Hardly
Hardly is blowing it up! Hardly. The only clouds I'm blowing up tonight are some high-level kushulonimbi. If you don't know anything about clouds then stop saying which clouds are realistic. Just because you think they look better does not make them more realistic. All of BF3's clouds are nice and fluffy. This looks good, but it isn't realistic at all and has no variety. Contrast that with GTA V, which has a dynamic weather system for generating not only fluffy clouds but tiny dotted clouds, stripey clouds, hazy clouds, overcast rainy clouds, and even cloudless days, not to mention that they're both volumetric and non-static, which are two things BF3's clouds aren't. If you want an idea of the amount of effort that went into creating BF3's skyboxes, go to google images and type in "pretty clouds". Then hit enter. Something you failed to see was that the OP was simply stating that the cloud "GFX" look much cooler. Sure, it only has one type of cloud in that particular shot. But I think what the OP was trying to state is that the clouds would look much cooler if they had the same depth in terms of looks. Yes, BF3's clouds were completely static, which is why that screenshoot looks so good. If people would see it in motion, (or lack thereof) it'd be a different story. I think the OP is OPting (See what I did there?) to essentially combine the depth and look of BF3's clouds with the motion and realistic aspects of what V will most likely provide. This is sort of seen in the Red Dead video that I posted. The clouds have depth, they are not 2D static overlays, they are dynamic, they seem to be volumetric, and they look great to top it all off. We will only see this improved in V, as I have said before. I honestly don't think Rockstar will ignore something as important in the game as the sky, since we will presumably spend a lot of time in it. As others have said, the sky while you're flying should be just as detailed as the ground when you're walking. V looks to only deliver in this aspect, and we will most likely see even more sky & cloud variety once weather really comes into play, which it undoubtedly will. BF3's clouds are certainly pretty but they're only made possible by the fact that they're static images. If they could generate dynamic clouds that look like BF3's clouds only with more variety then yah, that would be awesome. But I don't think they can do that yet. It's dumb to see people saying that BF3's clouds are better than GTA V's clouds because BF3's clouds are just a prerendered image whereas GTA V's clouds move and change shape. TyphoonJames
There are better examples of cloud in V which I can't believe you haven't used. How about the hiker scene in Trailer 1 or in Trailer 2 where the GTA V appears? Christ!

In one of the OP's screenshots it looks like the game is running on IV's engine, hardly any improvements. Most definitely an alpha version, or something like that. But, looking at some of the newer screenshots, it looks great. My personal favorite is this one: Nevermind the fact that Michael is repelling down the building and could potentially fall to his gruesome death, just admire DEM CLOUDS AND DAT SKY. Mmmmm. This one's actually my favorite: Because it shows altostratus undulatus clouds which is awesome, because they're also related to the asperatus cloud. Asperatus clouds looks like this: If an asperatus cloud ever fell on you it would probably crush you and you'd die, so be careful around them please.... But I also like screenshots like these ones too because they show that GTA V can handle big puffy clouds as well as little whispy ones: GTA IV only had tiny little swishy fuzzy clouds and they looked really dumb imho. Svip
Well, I have to admit. It is seldom I see a man this passionate about clouds. He may be banned now, but I hope he finds his true calling, which is not GTA, but clouds. Surely, there must be a cloud forum somewhere. And for what it's worth, we got the cloud enhusiast's 'Cloud of Approval' for GTA5, so I am satisfied.

DAWeeE1
To those thinking good cloud graphics are not important: In GTA: San Andreas, we had these kind of flat clouds that you passed through while flying. GTA IV didn't any separate clouds, I think, because there weren't any vehicle that could reach that height. Same goes for RDR. Now with GTA V however, it would be kind of awkward if we had the same flat clouds on the new engine, instead of those on for example Just Cause 2. Trund
GTA V:altocumulus cumulus cirrocumulus cumulonimus nimbostratus clear skies volumetric cumulus layer You don't know sh*t about clouds. Why do you tell people they know sh*t about clouds, when you don't know them either? The first picture isn't an altocumulus. It's a cirrocumulus. Alto = Mid altitude, Cirro = High altitude. The third picture isn't a cirrocumulus. (Note: Cumulus are PUFFY clouds) The fourth picture isn't a cumulonimbus. A cumulonimbus is a thunderstorm cloud, and you even failed to spell it right. And it goes on..... Oh, but you managed to get the clear skies correctly, congratulations for that. Edited November 25, 2012 by Trund
