cp1dell
So playing through GTA IV for the umpteenth time, I'm always making the same decisions, seeing what would have happened if I picked the other one, or doing what I believe Niko would have done. It got me thinking about the first time I played the game, and what choices I made. Which brings the subject up. What was the hardest choice in the game for you? Personally, the choice between killing Darko or walking away was the toughest one for me. That had to be the second strongest moment in the game for me. For so long Niko had been searching for this guy. To me this guy was the shadow (archetype wise) of Niko. I think he looked a lot like him, but was much darker, and almost the opposite life as Niko after the back-stabbing. Niko wanted this man dead, but part of me wanted to let him suffer with his life. Live on with the mistakes he made; hating himself. Hating life. It was a tough decision, but in the end I killed him. So, what was the hardest decision in the game for you? The Odyssey
Derrick or Francis. A succesful but curropt cop who'll pay you, or a nice but useless druggie. Tough call.
RSAG
Same decision as you OP. Pretty difficult to choose.
GTASeriesFan
It was between killing Derrick or Francis.
Gtaghost22
Roman (Deal) or Kate (Revenge), by far. I liked both but i prefer Roman so i chose Revenge in the end, it must've been easy for most people though, most of the fanbase hate Kate for some reason. I think most of the choices were really easy imo, i only killed assholes that thought they can f*ck with Niko and get away with it, i don't think i'm exaggerating for example in saying that 90% of people killed Playboy X, f*ck that asshole, he deserved to die, plus, i really like Dwayne. Francis was also a piece of sh*t and deserved to die. Edited November 25, 2012 by Gtaghost22
MostOfAll
Niko is a hypocrite throughout the story. He kills for money, regardless of the circumstances. I didn't have to think much before sparing Darko.

Playboy acted like he practically owned Niko. From the moment I met him, I never really liked him. He was way too cocky.
AceRay
most of the fanbase hate Kate for some reason. Other than the fact that she's a self-righteous, mean, condescending woman who looks down upon you and her brothers with superiority and takes every second to berate Niko at every turn and slows down the pace of the game whenever she's on screen, she's not bad. Tynamite
Derrick or Francis. A succesful but curropt cop who'll pay you, or a nice but useless druggie. Tough call. I played that mission today. For some reason, the whole time this was being set up, I knew this was an easy decision just to shoot Francis and I did without hesitation. For some reason, I just thought that he was a douche kind of guy. Then I realized that he pays big money and then said f*ck it and I killed a few tramps after the mission. XxIrishBlizzardxX
I always found the Darko one a tough call.. But I always killed him, Then I thought if I let him live I might get a few added missions.. But the hardest for me was Roman (Money) or Kate (Revenge). Fisciletti
Killing or sparing Darko. I killed him anyways. Also, choosing "Deal" or "Revenge" (I didn't know the end).
albanyave
The hardest decision that I had to make was choosing between The Deal and Revenge. Part of me wanted the money and to just move forward away from a life of crime while another part just wanted to get back at Dimitri for tricking me into killing Faustin. Faustin needed to be here with his wife and daughters. Dimitri was the one to have Roman kidnapped which eventually led to Bellic Enterprise being burned to the ground and Roman and Niko having to leave Hove Beach because their apartment was also burned with Malorie's engagement ring inside. The first time I played the game I chose Revenge.
AlexGTAGamer
On my first playthrough of the game the toughest choice I ever had to make was "Deal or Revenge". I wanted to get my revenge on Dimitri for all of the things he did to Niko and Roman, but then again after killing Darko and all of the texts Roman sent to Niko during the decision making time, I wanted to take the money, especially when Roman mentioned Vice City (for some dumb reason I thought we would be able to go to Vice City in the game). In the end I chose "Deal" and really regretted it.
Guest
On my first playthrough, I was sitting in Playboy's apartment thinking about what I should do over an episode of Republican Space Rangers. I made my decision and walked outside to the Turismo I left there. I started driving to the docks to kill Dimitri, until Roman texted me about Vice City. My reaction was "F*ck Dimitri, we goin' Vice City" so I immediately did a 180 and drove as fast as I could to do the deal. I was quickly disappointed. cp1dell
Yeah - reading Vice City in the text message got me excited for some reason. Like after the credits we might get to see a glimpse in the future of Vice City or something. Or if the next game was in Vice City, and the system read our saved game and saw which ending we took we might see a glimpse of Niko or Roman. I was utterly destroyed when I picked Deal. I<3GTAV
It had to be killing Francis or Derrick. I killed Derrick because I needed money, but I still feel guilty to this day.

dangr
The hardest choice was the choice about Darko. No matter how many times I finished the storyline, I spend some time thinking of what to do in this mission. On the other hand, I easily choose everytime to kill Playboy, to leave Ivan alive and to kill Dimitri in the first chance (revenge). Most of the times I kill Cherise and Francis too. Cherise is a bitch and Francis may help you with your wanted level, but most of the times, he doesn't even answer his phone.
WF the Hobgoblin
To kill or not to kill Darko.
Dr. Robotnik
Not killing Cherise. I really, really wanted to because of how bad she hurt Dwayne, but when she said Dwayne wouldn't want her dead, I couldn't do it because I didn't want Dwayne to be upset with Niko. Now that I know Dwayne's fine with it either way I don't have a problem with it. I also didn't really want to kill Playboy X. There was no way in hell I could kill Dwayne, but Playboy always treated Niko decently enough so that I still felt I was stabbing somebody in the back. I would've preferred to just walk away from it completely.
Verdant
The Deal or Revenge between Kate and Roman was the hardest choice for me. Roman, was hilarious and the problems he faced throughout the storyline, made it difficult. Kate was special to Niko and the friendship between Packie and Niko would expand with this. My first play through I chose Deal. I felt so, blank after the storyline and it kinda tricked you into thinking it would be a happy ending overall. The second play through I chose the opposite, Revenge. It was a good selection even though Kate died and the friendship with Packie felt a bit broken, Roman meant a lot in this game. GratuitousViolets
Killing Darko or not (I didn't; I had a feeling Niko's guilt wouldn't go away if he did, killing a man wouldn't kill Niko's demons) and choosing between the deal or revenge were the hardest for me. Everything else was pretty easy. I chose to kill Francis because he was as phony as a £3 note. Derrek I felt sorry for because he was out of control of it and didn't deserve to really die (where as Francis was all too willing to sacrifice his brother and was all about trying to 'be' something more than to 'do' something). Packie admitted to Niko several times that Francis was a bigger crook than the rest of the family, and even when going to seminary school had still been on the take. Choosing between Playboy X and Dwayne was easy, I felt Playboy was an opportunist who let Forge build an empire only to make sure he was put away so it could be taken from him. Playboy was a backstabber while Dwayne seemed more defeatist and more sorry for his sins and the way his life had turned out. Despite Dwayne's doom and gloom in every interaction, I choose Dwayne each time I replay.
