UP9390
In the 2nd trailer when the White Audi R8 lookalike convertable car drives by, if you look very closely at the plates, it's different from the regular license plates, it's a government plate: it says: SA EXEMPT 34GSH473
tenpennyisplainevil
Nice find! I hope it is any other colour than black, maybe we'll see undercover cops for real then.

TheTerminatorNY
Good find! Hopefully there are a few unmarked police cars in the game. Real-life exampled of the 'exempt' plates: Although I don't see GTA's version of the R8 as an unmarked car. Maybe it belongs to one of Michaels FIB "friends." J-B
Undercover cops/Unmarked cars would add to the atmosphere of the game nicely and I wouldn't mind them as long as they aren't too hard to notice. Although I don't see GTA's version of the R8 as an unmarked car. Maybe it belongs to one of Michaels FIB "friends." That actually makes a lot of sense as Michael is the one who tells Franklin which house is "Berto's". Michael obviously must know this "Berto" guy in some way. I'd also say that scene is probably the first time Michael and Franklin meet as it fits the description given by GameInformer.
danny41294
Here's the plate if anyone was looking for it, tried to sharpen the image up a bit but didn't go to well Anyway, can someone explain to me this whole 'Exempt' thing? What does it mean?. Thanks!
MikeMyth
Wow. That is a helluva' find friend. I would have never noticed that. But who is driving the car? In the trailer wasn't it Franklin?

BlademanX
The whole idea of undercover is undercover. Having an Exempt number plate defeats the purpose. Why in England Police in London have used Audi, Fords, VW, BMW as undercover cop cars. Subarus EVos etc. If you use crown Vics with special plates how is that undercover??? I can see you a mile off

Jewstinian
It isn't very undercover if your license plates point out whether or not you work for the government, don't you think? Nice find, by the way.
Killerdude
They're not undercover, they're unmarked, BIIIIIIIIIIIIG difference.
Skyline_Mad
Yea it would be a nice addition, but may be annoying if you crash into an undercover unit (thinking its a civilian) only to have them chase you with a 2 or more star wanted level. I think the idea of the exempt plates irl is to show they are undercover, but only subtly (not immediately recognisable). So if you are speeding down the freeway constantly looking for cops, you would be going to fast to notice undercover units etc... I mean who in CA actually looks at plates? Most people who get pulled over by undercover cops probably didn't even know about the Exempt thing. Edit: @Killerdude8 yea that's right, unmarked not undercover, guess anyone reading my post can replace "undercover" with "unmarked" lol. Come to think of it i've always known them to be unmarked, but then again i probably thought it was a UK thing, and the US have "undercover" police, guess its known as "unmarked" internationally. TheDizasterChild
Undercover units use standard issued plates. Unmarked and general purpose LEOs and state government use "exempt" plates. Here in Florida, they're yellow and use four or five numbers. They're pretty easy to spot, even from a distance, so my guess is that they're not trying to be all that sneaky. Awesome find, OP. Finally, the threads are getting better around here!
TellEmRye
They really need to bring back 'undies', i'd love to do a crime then a random car pulls up and it happens to be a officer.
Romans Cousin Niko
Once again, someone has come a whole three days too late: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=491041&st=2380
Officer620
Once again, someone has come a whole three days too late: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=491041&st=2380 It was noted by others even before I posted that Exempt plates don't automatically mean police either, it can be owned by any government agency as well as police. My bet is on one of the secretive-type agencies such as the FIB. The car doesn't have to be used for operational duty, the exempt plates merely classify it as a government owned/operated vehicle. I can't see it as being an unmarked police vehicle unfortunately. Cheers!
ACUK82
They're not undercover, they're unmarked, BIIIIIIIIIIIIG difference. But they are marked they have exempt on the plate. Not the brightest of ideas from the USA there.
