twinkiller
I mean really all they talk about is football and basketball. And when they talk about football it is all about the jets and Tim Tebow. When the Giants won the World Series there wasn't much mention about it, especially on first take. Sorry to rant but I also can't stand most of their studio hosts. I dont get the impression that they know much about sports, they just read off of a teleprompter. I love football but talk about something different for once. I know baseball is on the offseason but they never mention it and they hardly discussed the mega deal between Miami and Toronto. What do you guys think?
Xboxless
Should be in sports discussion. They talk about what will keep people's attention. It so happens that more people are interested in football rather than baseball, and among football fans they find Tim Tebus more important than other stories. Sorry, that is just how it works, they talk about what is popular and right now the Jets being who they are (a laughing stock) are going to be talked about. lil weasel
Sarcasm i hope. Heck no! I was present at a basketball practice and heard the Coach telling the players how to fall down, and get the other players to appear to foul them. Baseball Coachs telling players to get hit by pitched balls, to run into the Second Base player to allow hitters to reach first. Have you tried putting some water in an aluminum bat for extra power? For football players to fake injury to get extra time outs. Et cetera. American Sports...
S5L3T0
Sports... what about Cricket? I don't remember other than a quicky mention. Never any real coverage. Because Americans don't understand it, and it's so difficult to cheat at it. Sports Ethic in America is How can I win by cheating. If you're talking about supplement/steroid use, it's not cheating if everyone else does it IMO lol. And Americans aren't the only ones. You know what the russian olympic wrestling team used to do to stay at there body weight and keep building muscle? they would take blood from there own body a week before weigh-ins (not enough to kill you obviously) and would have it pumped back in after weigh-ins. Every human being is prone to cheating. You're post above mine is a f*cking generalization and you have no proof other than what you think you know. Did you play these sports? I did. Our coaches would sit us for a game if we had an injury, so why fake it? Maybe at the professional level, but that is EVERYWHERE, not just america. When you're sponsored and givin millions of dollars to perform well in your sport, the pressure is HEAVY. Any person in a professional sport is prone to cheating as much as americans. In youth and high school sports, I didn't see cheating the way you described one time. Edited November 23, 2012 by S5L3T0
Chaise
A few of their shows I like, like around the horn and PTI, but I don't like sportcenter that much. That's why I watch NFL, NBA, and MLB networks when I want my sports news usually.
Pyrrhic
Australian sports channels are sh*t. Actually, we only have one proper one and the only sports they show is NASCAR and NFL. The rest of the time they're basically playing sh*t like reruns of Cops. Just checked what's on now and by luck it happen to be NASCAR: Sprint Cup. Thank god I have more tolerance for NASCAR than most other Aussies, I actually don't mind watching it. Unlike NFL, couldn't watch ten minutes of that crap unless Ben Graham or Sav Rocca are playing, only because they used to play AFL over here. El Dildo
well first of all, this topic should be in the Sports forum.. I mean really all they talk about is football and basketball. and secondly; you're wrong. they don't only talk about football and basketball. they talk about football and basketball right now because those are the sports being played in Winter. hockey is on lockout and the baseball season is over. so right now, football and basketball are the major sports being played. you should turn on ESPN during the Summer. all they talk about is baseball and NASCAR because those are the active sports during that season. Formula 1 is probably second most-watched and then maybe the MotoGP (but Superbikes aren't shown). Although personally I am a huge World Rally Championship fan I don't even know anyone else that watches it, probably because it is on our least-watched channel SBS. NASCAR isn't actually really watched, it's just that Channel One got the rights to broadcast it so their pretty much just milking it for what it's worth. What do you guys think? I used to watch Baseball Tonight every single night during baseball season. Then around 2005 I started hating it, but watched it because there was nowhere else to get baseball highlights. But ever since MLB Network launched, I just watch MLB Tonight and I haven't watched a second of Baseball Tonight since. I haven't watched ESPN in years, besides the times they are showing a game I want to watch. If I want baseball talk I'll turn on MLB Network, if I want football talk I'll put on NFL Network, the same goes for NBA Network and NHL Network. SportsCenter and all the other ESPN shows and their hosts/anchors annoy me, so I just don't watch.

I believe Channel One plays that 20-20 Cricket, which goes on for about the entire day and I can't stand it, imo. Channel One have played UFC coming to Sydney live and the NBA 2010 finals. But after those events are done you are right. NASCAR I enjoy a lot in my spare time followed by some games of NFL. Mainly, I watch a lot of College Basketball and NBA but that's mostly on ESPN, I rarely see it on Channel One these days..

Taking a charge usually very painful. There is actual contact, usually a knee or an elbow if the player is going for a layup or shot. Baseball: Nobody takes a hit from a pitch on purpose unless they are very dedicated or have a deathwish. Aluminum bats are not used in proper baseball, and running into basemen is not technically illegal. Football: Faking injuries is something that happens in a lot of sports and is really the only sure fire way to stop the clock when you need that one extra down. I'm not condoning it but it is not a purely American thing. Edited November 23, 2012 by ryuclan

The Killa
It seems like the only people who watch ESPN are teenagers who wear basketball shorts everyday. Hence I stopped watching in 2004. I can only take so much manufactured rivalries, ESPY's, Jim Rome, and clueless commentary over sh*tty rock music for so long. Girish
Sports... what about Cricket? I don't remember other than a quicky mention. Never any real coverage. That's probably because of the ESPN-Star Sports partnership. They have segregated all the cricket coverage into a separate channel called Star Cricket. At least, that's how it is over here. You have to pay extra for it, but if there's a game on it that I wanna watch I'll just go down the pub, since every pub in the country seems to have it. Sky Sports is where it's at though.
