ps3 uses bluray disks, or dual layer bluray disks, which have a capacity of ~50gb

I don't get it. Test drive unlimited 2 has 2 HUGE maps yet it uses only one disc?!

Dude that is a racing game and GTA is open-wold ! In GTA we can do more things than racing.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 = dontgetit.gif

GTA V = cool.gif

GTA V will use a 32 gig USB flash drive instead! panic.gif

Just kidding! That would be cool though. It will probably end up using two disks and at the most three. I still think they should use a USB flash drive though.

I am still maintaining my belief that they'll find some way to fit it on the DVD-9. They'll have to drop the textures to all hell possibly but it'll fit.

I don't see how thats going to work if they are going to keep the quality between ps3 and 360 consistent, and from what we've seen from the trailer, they are going to be pretty high quality. it has got to be 2 disks.

Trailers are always high-quality, like i mean look at a trailer for game in like 2000-04 area and look at actual gameplay from that game, the difference in quality is very different.

Besides, we don't know how well they're gonna compress the game. Perfect example is Skyrim, MASSIVE game, hours, possibly days worth in dialogue and audio, but yet, only 3.9 gb?

lol.

I can personally assure you, GTA V will be on one disk.

GTA 4 for xbox 360, the final version looked the same quality wise as the trailer. if you don't agree then you need a better TV or eyes or something. this shows that there will be no difference in quality between the trailer and how the actual game looks. R* has not mislead us yet. And ive never played skyrim, but I doubt there's "days" of dialogue. Also don't forget GTA 4's pre-rendered HD video content, a sh*t load of high quality music, and a sh*t ton of dialogue.

Not saying skyrim isn't full of content, but clearly GTA 4 had more, not including map size, and I'm sure GTA 5 will have twice as much content, so that's where the second disk is needed.

So, you've never played Skyrim, but are willing to say it doesn't have enough content?

Put simply, there is an ASS-LOAD of sh*t in skyrim, Days worth in dialogue and Audio, yes, Days worth. With all the the speech options and stuff, it is believeble. Now, if a company like Bethsda can fit a game like Skyrim into 3.9 GB, I am CERTAIN R* could make it smaller.

For the record, Skyrim has more everything than GTA IV.

GTA V will be on 1 disk.

Open world games don't generally sell well on multiple disks.

You don't understand. HD video and lots of it in GTA 4. probably accounted for at least 2gb assuming they compressed it well and assuming cutscenes were not video files. also add probably a couple days worth of music/radio, accounting for at least 1.5gb. so at least 3.5gb of stuff skyrim did not have.

i do not see GTA 5 having only 1 disk if they are going to have more content than gta 4. gta 4 almost filled the disk anyway.

No cutscenes, but still more hours of dialogue then any other title out there, rivaling with Fallout.

Skyrim's map is 20 Miles squared. GTA V's is gonna be bigger no doubt, but the Audio and Dialogue is Far greater in Skyrim than will be in GTA V.

"Oh but 3 protags, 3 cutscenes for each mission!" Likely not, it is highly likely only a select few missions will have more then one cutscene depending on your character.

Anyways, Skyrim has so much stuff, but is only 3.9 GB, explain how that works? Oh right, it was compressed.

But this isn't just a normal game... being able to download the game will increase sales massively.

Ps3 will let you download the game within the week of release same with the box imo.

@kev Blu-ray is a sony product I really highly doubt xbox 720 will use a sony product biggrin.gif tbh... I think they will take the disc drive out completely.

Oh and Multiplayer and Campaign were pretty much split up, small portion of the Campaign on Disk 2 along with Multiplayer. Not going to be the case for V considering both MP and SP use the same everything.(Map, Spawns, etc..)

Besides, Have you no faith in R* abilities? If Bethsda is able to put a game like Skyrim into 3.9GB, I'm certain R* can take a game like GTA V and put into something like 7-8GB. It really ALL comes down to how well they compress the game.

The difference here with GTA4 and GTA5 is the lead platform.

360 was the lead platform for GTA4

PS3 is the lead platform for GTA5

That makes a hugeeeee difference in content of a game.

That's a good thing, games that have the ps3 as a lead, ends up looking better for both platforms

Plus the ps3 has an install base of 70m, the audience is to big to mess around with anymore

That makes a hugeeeee difference in content of a game.

That's a good thing, games that have the ps3 as a lead, ends up looking better for both platforms

Plus the ps3 has an install base of 70m, the audience is to big to mess around with anymore

Oh yeh I'm not doubting that.

I personally don't care having both consoles just means I can pick the better one on release wink.gif lol.

and downloading games will be the new thing (for next-gen), so this game will be on PSN store and xbox marketplace within the week of release. You will be able to download it.

Rockstar had trouble fitting iv on 1 disk

Just face it, it will have multiple disks

Open world games don't generally sell well on multiple disks.

suicidal.gifsuicidal.gifsuicidal.gif

Skyrim had no cutscenes and the map will end up being smaller then v

yet you think it will be in 1 disk lol.giflol.giflol.giflol.giflol.gif

this is easily the post of the day

Idiot.

OMG! skyrim had no cutscenes, that's why it was able to fit onto the xbox, explain why max payne 3 which is like 1/50th the size of gta "had multiple disks?"

idiot

So according to you, a couple hours worth in cutscenes in bigger then days worth of dialogue?

suicidal.gif

Oh and Multiplayer and Campaign were pretty much split up, small portion of the Campaign on Disk 2 along with Multiplayer. Not going to be the case for V considering both MP and SP use the same everything.(Map, Spawns, etc..)

Besides, Have you no faith in R* abilities? If Bethsda is able to put a game like Skyrim into 3.9GB, I'm certain R* can take a game like GTA V and put into something like 7-8GB. It really ALL comes down to how well they compress the game.

Rockstar had trouble fitting iv on 1 disk

Just face it, it will have multiple disks

and for the final time, skyrim had no cutscenes! that's how it was able to fit

That was 5 years ago, in a time when R* had very little knowledge of their new found RAGE.

Something you're still not acknowledgeing either is how well they will compress it. Again with my Skyrim argument, still stands.

It ALL comes down to the level of compression.

I saw GTA SA at 660MB, still ran perfect for me.

Firstly by 'How much disks' I presume you meant 'how many'? And yes I am a grammar 'Nazi' but when you have a full keyboard infront of you there is no excuse!

Anywho the only game I have had on 360 that had more than one disk (excluding any DLC) was LA Noire and that had was due to the huge amount of data with the motion capture they used etc.

I selected two disks, I don't want it to be more than one, and there have been bigger games on just one disk but if that is wrong it can't be more than two.

People who think that there are going to be more than one disk are talking crazy.

It works for games like LA Noire and Max Payne as they aren't sandbox games. It wouldn't work for V as it would ruin

character development. By that I mean the money you would have acquired throughout the story and side missions, the clothes you would have bought etc etc/

Would you drive down highway and a message telling you to put disk two in etc? It wouldn't work.
