Add a first person view to GTA V?

On consideration I think I'd probably play the whole game FPS if given the choice... clearly other people would choose to play TPS instead, that's also cool

 

We'd have to ask a modder how difficult it would be for R* to implement it, many of that crew know as much about GTA as the proper devs...

I think they should add a 1st person mode as well as keep the already existing camera modes. With first person you get to enjoy the smaller details and it makes the map seem a whole lot bigger than it actually is. It isn't about whether GTA V should be a 3rd person only game, it is about the preference of whom is playing. Some people like to play as if they were in the characters shoes because it makes them feel as if they are the character. An example would be that instead of Niko getting shot, you see it as "That A-Hole just shot me". So, I am alright with it.

You've made your own preference clear... but would you support the implementation of FPS/TPS as an option for gamers, or would you be happiest if only your own preferences were included? It's a genuine question..!

First person perspective will never happen in gta, or any rockstar game, they've stated that they are strictly sticking to 3rd person perspective.

 

Also, it would take way too much time to implement a first person view in the car, they would have to model every interior individually for every vehicle in the game.

I would like an option for first person to mix it up a bit. If you want to know what it is like to play first person, perform the invisible glitch on GTA IV:

 

 

 

Once you are invisible:

 

* Set the camera to the closest possible while walking.

* Set the camera to the closest possible while aiming.

* Set the camera to the inside view while driving.

 

Feels like first person and is actually really fun. Otherwise you can always do it via PC mods.

an open world sandbox which is having its game play revolve around a cover system, it just doesn't work.

Yeah, I agree - or have to ride around on a Faggio in cockpit view, just to get an unobastructed view of the beautiful GTA world. I voted for the first person optional view. I grew up on Quake & Unreal Tournament FPS's and I have always thought that 3rd person was kind of a wierd mode.

 

It's amazing -- the knee jerk reaction of the flaming apesh*t hardcore GTA purists who jumped on this poll and loaded up the "no first person" vote -- they are determined to force their will on the rest of us. First person??? Stone the blasphemers!!! Death to the FPS infidels!!! GTA 3rd person is the way, the truth and the light!!! Wow.

 

I have played the GTA IV PC first person mod and I was just dicussing it with a fellow gamer today. FP is not the end-all perfection for GTA, but it is very nice when you want it. And it looks great when you want to explore, walk or run around with a the screen a little closer, covering more of your field of view and seeming more like you are really there. And actually, FP view makes cockpit view inside cars so much better! If you haven't tried the PC FPS mod, you have no credibility preaching to us here.

Seriously, people should stop mentioning COD & Bethesda, they didnt invent first person.

 

Anyway I sont see a problem having an extra camera selection. I would use it & they dont even have to detail cars & guns more than they are already doing it anyway.

 

One question though.. Why would this make GTAV not gta?? The core game would be the same. adds replay-ability too.

I personally don't get all the resistance to the "optional" idea...if you don't like FP, don't use it lol

Instead they'd rather limit everyones options based on a personal preference developed through fan-boy-ism

 

Some situations are suited to third person, so I'd use it for most of the game...But like I said before, sometimes I like to look at all the fine detail R* has put into the city and quite frankly you can't do it in Third Person. Try and tell me what the magazines laying around say on them without pulling out a gun and zooming in....all that detail is basically lost on most people.

I remember DRIV3R having an optional first-person view when you were on foot. It was actually kind of cool, but you could tell that they didn't really put much work into it, just tacked it on.

 

If it's optional, I don't really see why it shouldn't be added.
