I always liked the 360... since we have to pay for live the features are 100 times better than playstation. I have both consoles so I am not biased really but I will tell you that I only use my PS3 for blu ray. If you have a lot of friends that are gamers even casual ones the 360 is the better option due to the chat functionality with people across multiple games. Also remember that you have a ton of apps like Netflix Youtube etc you can add on 360. My PS3 is basically my blu ray player...

Netflix, YouTube, Lovefilm, iPlayer, and more are on PS3 you know...

I honestly didn't know that. I just really don't like my PS3... it doesn't have the social functionality of the Xbox and it will continue to be just a blu ray player for me. It seems like more people have Xbox, at least more of my friends that is, and it's just a better experience for me. The PS3 isn't a bad console. It's just, if you plan to enjoy the social aspect of games I don't recommend it considering unsecure and sh*tty PSN is compared to XBL. Of course PSN is free, so that's why - if you don't want to pay you won't get the same level of security you do with Xbox.

Ok, don't. I have both consoles and I chose to use the Xbox for the reasons above... it's worth the monthly fee.

2. Is it true that PS3 exclusives have better graphics than any X360 game?

I wouldn't say so. I would say they are fairly similar once you download the game to the HDD on Xbox.

5. What are the unique features of X360, that PS3 doesn't have, and vice versa?

Xbox live is secure unlike PSN has been in the past and you can download games to the HDD which improve the graphics, make it load quicker and make the Xbox quieter. The connection is always good for me whereas when I play on my friend's PS3, the connection is crap and he has a decent Internet provider.

OK, can I just stop you with this complete bullsh*t, Installing the games does NOT improve the graphics, you're getting confused with HD Texture Installations, they're a different thing. If you play GTA IV off the disc and then install it, you won't get better graphics, you'll get the better loading times and a quieter console, but the graphics will be the same as nothings changed. Only few games have HD Texture Installs, it's certainly not enough to warrant that "fact" that installing games gives you better graphics, lay off the juice man.

QUESTIONS ANSWERED BY SOMEONE WITH BOTH:

1. I'm not a hardcore multiplayer gamer - I play it just occassionally.

Then PSN would be good, as its FREE and you are not forced to pay ANYTHING to play online.

2. I don't like shooters like CoD or MoH; I'm always into games that present some valuable storyline, like Metal Gear Solid (I used to have PS2 + I watched Guns of the Patriots playthrough on YouTube).

Both systems have fair shares of good storylined games. The best in my opinion are Silent Hill HD Collection, Fallout 3, The Walking Dead.

3. I don't really care for Kinect of Move - don't play to buy either one or the other.

Then dont. Personally, both are completely overrated, and retarded.

And questions related to XBOX and PLAYSTATION:

1. What are the good sides and bad sides of Xbox Live and Playstation Network?

Xbox live is good with being online more and more reliable, and lags less. However, it is NOT free and is the ONLY online game service on consoles that require you to pay, so you CANT play for free, not even message anyone. Also, if your banned, thats forever and always, and by console. So dont expect to simply just make a new account.

Playstation Network is good due to several more reasons. Its 100% free, has an AMAZING service called Playstation Plus which is only 17.99 for 3 month and gives you about $200 of games FREE, then theres the free online play, large friend list support, and more. THe downfalls is, the amount of hackers has raised recently, bans on PSN, although not by system, are still harsh because it dont give you an estimated ban expire date.

2. Is it true that PS3 exclusives have better graphics than any X360 game?

Most of the time, yes, this is true. But this is also true on Xbox as well, so its a tie here.

3. Which console is more quiet?

Depends. Xbox 360 fat and PS3 fat are equally noisy, sounding like a large truck engine. While the PS3 slim and Xbox Slim are both very very silent.

4. Which console has more potential to break down?

Ive never trusted the xbox. Take it from someone who has had 5 xbox 360 systems break down, and only 1 PS3 ever break down. The 360 hardware is HORRIBLE with being reliable. Dont expect to use it long.

5. What are the unique features of X360, that PS3 doesn't have, and vice versa?

The xbox has some features that the other dont, like being able to change your gamertag name, cross game chat. But thats all. The PS3 though, has a bluray player, a better internet browser, full PS1 backwards compatibility, chargable wireless controllers out of the box, fully free online play, HDMI on ALL consoles, harddrives on ALL consoles, playstation plus, and much much more...

6. Some examples (with descriptions) of PS3 and X360 exclusives - just to make me sure which exclusives are more appealing to me.

The Ps3 has several good exclusives. Most though, are for kids, which yes is odd but are all still VERY fun. Theres Sly Cooper 4 Thieves in time, which is about a raccoon who is on an adventure to find missing book pages, then theres infamous, which is about a guy who is gifted with powers and can shoot electricity, then Ratchet and clank which is about a creature who is saving the galaxy, and several more. Then on xbox, well, theres really only Halo and its an FPS, which you dont like.

7. Can I install PS3 games on its hard disc, like on XBOX?

EVERY ps3 game requires hard drive install.

8. Forza Motorsport 4 vs Gran Turismo 5? (NO WARS PLEASE)

no idea sorry.

Personally, i say get a ps3. You dont like FPS shooters, barely play online but when you do you dont want to pay, then you want more value, so with ps3 you get a blu ray player, controllers THAT DONT REQUIRE BATTERIES OUT OF THE BOX, FREE ONLINE PLAY, and so much more. Do it, get a ps3.

Add me on PSN too if you do.

Because i think the Xbox 360 is a great console, and it had better exclusives back when i bought it, unfortunely this isn't the case now since Micro$oft started catering to the casuals with Kinect and we only get the same 3 exclusives every year now, Foraz/Halo/GeOW. I don't hate the console, i hate Microsoft.

1. What are the good sides and bad sides of Xbox Live and Playstation Network?

A:.PSN is free which is a big bonus rather than Xbox Live which is pay to play. You say you're not a hard core multiplayer gamer,so I'll give Xbox 360 a slight edge on this comparison, but for hardcore multiplayer gamers PS3 is the choice.

You have to be careful on XBL though, cause the mods are very strict but I don't know much.

2. Is it true that PS3 exclusives have better graphics than any X360 game?

A.No I don't this is true cause Crysis on 360 beats them all.

3. Which console is more quiet?

A.PS3

4. Which console has more potential to break down?

A.Xbox 360,but they have fixed it with the new models. Most famous break down on 360 is Red Ring Of Death also known as RROD,and PS3 YOLD(Yellow Light of Death.)

5. What are the unique features of X360, that PS3 doesn't have, and vice versa?

A.PS3 is free online,PS3 has blueray,PS3's hardware has been used to create super computers

360:Don't much but you can play older games like SA

6. Some examples (with descriptions) of PS3 and X360 exclusives - just to make me sure which exclusives are more appealing to me.

A.PS3:Uncharted(2nd won many GOTY awards),God of War 3(world famous game)

Xbox360:Halo(all time acclaimed shooter),Forza Motorsport 4

7. Can I install PS3 games on its hard disc, like on XBOX?

Not even going to start on the functionality thing since we'll just argue.

Yeah I think more people who play online do have Xbox, games like Call Of Duty always sell a few hundred thousand more copies on the Xbox and there's usually a few more people online, I suspect many bought a PS3 just for casual gaming/Blu-Ray playing capabilities.

I really don't think PSN is "sh*tty" in comparison, the differences are minimal, heck, the only difference I have seen is party chat and faster downloads.

I wouldn't call it insecure either, it may have been before that big hacking incident, but I'm sure they are adamant and they even said so, to greatly improve security on the network.

So, not frittering away money for a service I can get for free = casual gamer?

f*ck logic

Btw, OP, ignore the people who say PSN isn't secure.

Sony found people hacking through their servers a while back so they shut the servers off to fix the problem. After that hack, servers have been improved.

Not sure if I've said this but XBL is definately LESS secure, with hackers in multiplayer 24/7.

I'd just like to note, that you should NEVER buy GTA IV on 360.

GTA IV on 360 is better than IV on PS3.

If you want to pay for online while getting more features (and more discs) xD, get Xbox 360.

Yes! I'd love to give a huge corporation money for a service I can get for free, and in return, get an unsecure online service filled with hackers!

You're totally right! Get a 360!

Oh yeah a couple more things.

You can bump and move your PS3 while it is turned on and your disc won't budge, hell you can knock it upside down see here.

Also Blu-Ray's are very very very hard to scratch so your discs will last longer and you can be a little more careless.

PS3 controllers comes with built in rechargeable batteries with quite a long time before recharge and you can charge them on your PC.

360 you need to keep replacing the batteries or you spend $30 bucks getting a rechargeable battery kit, or getting a rechargeable battery pack which you recharge via USB.

Also the 360 controllers tend to break more easily, usually on the battery pack. The PS3 Controllers and console are much more sturdy.

None of these things are really a big deal, but it's the small things that add up after a while, just these simply little things you don't have to worry about.

Thanks for so many responses guys! It really cleared my decision, though I had some tough time thinking what to choose. But I decided now, and I'll go with PS3. Due to that I don't really care for multiplayer, PS3 exclusives are more appealing to me (Heavy Rain, MGS4, upcoming The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls), it reads Bluray discs and it happens that I don't have a Bluray encoder in my home and finally, I already had X360 once so it's nice to try another console smile.gif. It sucks that I probably won't get GTA V's DLC-s at the time Xbox players will have them, but oh well... Thanks once again.

Could you show me proof of XBOX LIVE being 'unsecure' and 'filled with hackers'?

I have both consoles, and IMO, 360 beats PS3 everytime. Online's smoother, updates are quicker, internet browsers better, inbuilt YouTube app.

Both have their pro's and cons though, so enjoy your PS3. smile.gificon14.gif

PC gamer for... pretty much when I started playing videogames almost 15 years ago or something.

Played on consoles in general? Somewhat the same time. Ownership of a Xbox360? Two years now... How long do I own a PS3? Not even a week.

And this is personal opinion mind you, but I prefer playing on a Playstation if I should pick a favourite console than on a Xbox360. I believe it's just more comfortable than going through Xlive and all that. Besides it has a free online service... but you can choose to pay for it or not.

And in general the PS3 exclusives are actually exclusives. Most of the only interesting Xbox 360 games/exclusives aren't that exclusive.

1. I'm not a hardcore multiplayer gamer - I play it just occassionally.

based on this - PS3, if you are not a regular online gamer then a subscription for an online service is not the best idea for you

and yes slim does have in built wifi (I ahve one)

xbox rrod is more common than PS3 YLOD - and the YLOD is supposedly impossible on slims, so i am told by some ps3 expert I am friends with

as for exlcusives most of Xbox exclusives seem the be shooters, whereas PS3 exlusives have more variety, like Heavy rain, Little Big Planet, games which are quite unique in their own way

some exclusives, like Uncharted, have better graphics than a 360 game could have, but not all exclusives utilize this

Questions related to XBOX and PLAYSTATION:

1. What are the good sides and bad sides of Xbox Live and Playstation Network?

Pros:

PS3:

- Full Service free of charge, with expanded service for a lesser fee than Xbox Live Gold.

- Quality Customer Service.

- Secured Servers and Hardware, prevents influxes of modding.

XBOX:

- Greater Quality Internet Browser.

- Early Access to DLC, commonly for Shooters i.e CoD.

- Party Chat.

Cons:

PS3:

- More common maintenance/updates. Resulting in Downtime. (I personally think that's a good thing.)

- Lesser customization with your account visuals.

- Lacks a Party Chat.

- Was once "hacked".

XBOX:

- Unscheduled downtimes,

- Payment for Full Service.

- Lack of customer service.

- Easy for modders to damage your games, consoles or servers.

2. Is it true that PS3 exclusives have better graphics than any X360 game?

Than any 360, No.

But generally yes.

Not to mention has a higher possible output.

3. Which console is more quiet?

They are the same, really.

4. Which console has more potential to break down?

360.

5. What are the unique features of X360, that PS3 doesn't have, and vice versa?

XBOX:

- Party Chat.

- Internet Explorer Web Browser.

PS3:

- PlayStation Plus.

- PlayStation Home.

- Simplistic Media Servers.

- Many services on offer.

6. Some examples (with descriptions) of PS3 and X360 exclusives - just to make me sure which exclusives are more appealing to me.

PS3:

- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots. You've played the others. Great Story.

- Heavy Rain. Truly the Greatest Story I've seen in a video game, to date.

XBOX:

- Halo. I hear it's greater than CoD.

I'm not one for exclusives, I only played multi-plaftorm on my 360.

7. Can I install PS3 games on its hard disc, like on XBOX?

Yes.

8. Forza Motorsport 4 vs Gran Turismo 5? (NO WARS PLEASE)

I'm not a huge racing fan, but..

Motorstorm, PS3 Exclusive is great!

Out of those, Gran Turismo. Forza is too Arcade like.

I understand I may seem a little biased, but I've owned both consoles and I greatly prefer my PlayStation.

Call me a "fanboy" if you so wish, but I merely look for the greater product.

Not sure if I've said this but XBL is definately LESS secure, with hackers in multiplayer 24/7.

Where did you get this information from? I suppose you know what hardware and software MS are using for XBL? Stop making sh*t up. I've had Xbox Live since 2006 and have never had an issue nor a warning about a security breach. These "hackers" you talk of in games are modders and not "hackers". They're running a modded game and are no way messing with the servers. They also get dealt with pretty quickly (instant ban on CoD) but with games like GTA IV, it's undetectable as the Xbox only checks the file sizes. PS3 GTA IV modding is popular too.

Yeah that's the other thing, the new PS3 slims are smaller than the Xboxes by a large margin now and way quieter.

Here is is first PS3 slim vs the 360, sorry for stretchers i couldn't find a direct comparison, you can see the old slim is a similar size, now look at the new slim compared to the old PS3 slim...

If their was no gaming PC or only consoles would be capable of gaming then i'd choose a PS3 with a X360 Controller, Simple i don't like to waste my hard earned money just to play the game's Multiplayer, And i think that X360's Controller is way better than PS3's because the Analog Triggers matter a lot, So PS3 with a X360 Controller FTW.
