dinodom
Although this is in GTA IV section, i wan't to know in general.... how to create a trainer? I know their is certain tools around now days to help make trainers, but i want to do it the proper way, with codes, DLL's, hooks etc! if you have any knowledge of how to create a trainer, and willing to help, then please post a reply or PM me! Someone told me a few weeks ago (the developer of SAMP LIVE) that you can make an overlay mod using a DirectX DLL Proxy, now i kind of understand what this is, what i don't understand is what exactly you can do with it. Overlay mods can make text and images and other stuff appear over a game (hence the name), so i'm guessing this is how the trainer menu (like simple native trainer or Sobeit) is made? But can overlay mods also effect gameplay? (if your wondering why i don't just ask the SAMP LIVE developer guy, its because he no longer goes on youtube very often, so i cant get answers ). Since looking into DirectX DLL proxies, i've come across some other names of stuff such as 'DLL wrappers' and 'DLL hooks'. Whats the difference? and which one should i use (if any)? Another question i have, is what software will i need to make the trainer? I heard that most trainers are coded using C++ (which i'm starting to learn atm) So i'm guessing Visual Studio is a must... anything else? DirectX SDK? One last thing, When looking into DLL proxies etc, i came across MS Detours (Microsoft detours) which looks like a piece of software which does similar stuff to a directx proxy dll, it intercepts calls from the game to the machine, but does MS Detours work on al programs? or does it only work on some stuff, will i need to use DirectX SPECIFICALLY? (If at all). And along my research of modding games, i come across 'reverse engineering', Is reverse engineering required to make a trainer? As you can see, i've come across quite a list of different things for game modding over the few months ive been looking into trainer development, but i've never had a CLEAR understanding of it all, and which things are actually relevant, etc. If you could please help me out by responding to my questions as well as giving me any additional information for creating trainers (and any other hacks tbh) for games (and GTA In particular). julionib
about your idea, i think that the first thing that you need, its determine what your trainer will do (teleport, vehicle/object/ped spawn, timecontrol, bodyguard, gang wars, etc), depending on what you plan to do, you can use .net script with the .net scripthook, programming in C# or VB.Net...
