Save Game Progress

When not on a mission, you can save your progress here.

This is the message we get in every GTA Games. It's either a pickup save or walking through the door way.

But GTA V is pretty different and better things can be expected. So, what's your idea of saving and how?

My thoughts on possible some ways.

  • Entering your Bed room.
  • Sleeping on bed. This animation was there in San Andreas.
  • Eating a meal..
  • Saving from menu. Just pressing Escape button and saving from menu. Although this never happened but we can expect it. The best thing they will allow will be to save when not a mission.

What are your ideas?

As mentioned in another thread I can imagine that it's for example possible to save when entering a "mobile home" or something. A park bench would be another example or a fire place in the countryside (like in RDR) So every place you can sleep or have a rest.

Also I am not a fan of saving via menu.

Taking a crap should save the game.

biggrin.gif Then once should be able to take a crop in the public restrooms too! wink.gif

Autosaves after every mission & completed activity please. Then the usual save at safehouses for 'hard' saves.

Restrooms? No. Can't see it happen. But, familiar places like Office, Bunglow, Gym, Garage or Storehouses maybe just the thing. If you take it the way you play as Michael, you can't have many options.

Yeah and if you have stool problems you cant save.

You will need to get some laxative to be able to save again.

Makes no sense. We can't expect my every resting place to be a save point.

It's still a bad thing. I don't need that quick save crap. Makes things way too easy and boring.

The system in IV was just fine.

Save anywhere at any time. My saves in GTA IV are all over the place and it's confusing.

Have the option to press 'Pause' and select 'Save'?

I don't see why this has never been the case. Why should you have to travel somewhere just to save? Some of us live busy lives and don't have time to be pissing out doing this.

Because it doesn't make sense.... its boring and not fun when games let you do that.

gta4 had the save option perfect... quick save after a mission/objective complete and then hard save at safe house.

Your argument makes no sense. How is it "boring" and "not fun"? It can be a two-tiered system. Have the option to save anywhere, or at the safehouse (similar to Saints Row 2 I think).

It sucks when you're killing 200 pigeons that you have to save after a few pigeons - in case your console freezes or theirs a blackout or other extenuating circumstances. Alternatively, an autosave after each "hidden package" would have been f*cking awesome (similar to AC: Relevations).

Just sleeping.

Via safehouses but even more awesome would it be by saving at motels/hotels!

Which you need to pay to sleep/save! Different prices depending by the stars the hotel has biggrin.gif

I think we'll get as it always has been. Perhaps beds will be changed out for something else, like "sit in a chair" but the lay in bed is pretty much the same as walk into the yellow tape or whatever the colour was. and it'll be something like that in gta V as well. I think.

I personally turn auto save off while playing GTA4. I only hard save and if I could just pause the game anywhere I wanted while doing anything, in mission getting chased by police .. whatever. I and many others would find that boring. Saving in gta meant so much to the game concept. it took away the police chasing you, gave you 100% health and added 12hours gametime on..

Tbh I couldn't care less if they put that system in. Just don't get rid of the safe house for saving. then its win/win for everyone.

I think save anywhere should be implemented in the game.

icon14.gif

Well.. I just can disagree with that. It would ruin the GTA concept. Like with regenerating health.

Then YOU can travel to your safehouse before you make the action of saving the game. I would defintiely welcome a save anywhere approach. On loading the save, you'd start out at the nearest safehouse, so all you're really saving is the most recent mission completion, player inventory/money, and other statistics.

I don't think saving anywhere fits gta to be honest, they should keep it the way it was in IV, only add more places to save like whenever resting (as mentioned).

People seem to be forgetting that whenever it auto saves it doesn't save it at that exact spot, it saves it at the closest safe house, so if you reload the autosave it will spawn you at the savehouse closest to the point it saved. But it could be implemented that if say you save on a park bench, at a restaurant, or anywhere you sit or lay down to rest, it will return you to there if you reload.

Then there is the switching protags, it will probably auto save when you switch, and reloading after switch may take you to the spot the protag was in at time of switch (franklin could be at the beach when switching to him etc...)

We may know more in a few months how it works, if not, then when the game is released.

If they DO implement a save anywhere system then they should at least make it so you can't save during missions or if you have a wanted level. Seems like a fair trade off. I doubt they'll do that though.

The system in RDR worked pretty well, with the campsites.

Maybe they could implement a similar system n V, where you could sleep in your car, but only if away from busy roads (which would mostly be useful only in the countryside, where you're more likely to be far away from a safe house) and only if the car was big enough. Trevor seems like someone who would have slept in his car a few times!

Even after minor events? I thought it only saved after a mission or a date with friends. If so I stand corrected. I guess also if you're stuck out in the dessert and want to save, you can always swap protags to someone who is closer to a save point and go that route.

I feel as if we should have a save for missions. Like, as soon as you complete a checkpoint in a mission, and you get off, once you return, you will be at the last savepoint. I know it may sound like CoD, but when you're a busy person that has to tackle things like life, your job, and whatnot, it's very appealing. What do you all think?

I want saving like in the III era games. GTA IV's saving took a lot more time than it should...this is especially annoying if you wanna save multiple times to get to a certain time of the day and it takes sooooo looooooooooooong.

Well, why not make the auto save system the manual save system too.

I don't get the complaints about that. Personally, when a TV show I like is coming up, I have having to drive halfway across town to save my game. And nobody bullsh*t me about challenge, okay? There's nothing hard about driving across town, it's just boring. If it's about immersion, why not just assume your guy drove back after you reloaded or turned the console off?

Why is the idea of simple convenience so foreign to you people. I mean, you could warp to your house anyways if you found a taxi, and even driving there is not exactly hard. Just wastes time.
