I expect nothing more than 4 GB to run the game on maximum settings as I'm still trying to forget about GTA IV's poor performance. I believe that they won't push it further than 4 GB, although I'm prepared with 8GB just in case of deja vu for game stability.

It depends on how well it is done, if another straight port......

GTA IV was 1.5 GB min, 2.5 rec. Max Payne 3 was 2 GB min and about 4 rec so I would say similar if not a little more?

So something like 3 GB min and 6 recommended?

Thinking of new games now like FC3, that says 4 min and 8 rec (and 16 for optimum biggrin.gif ) so if GTA V comes out 6 months after console release say, thats nearly a year from now so may be around the same or perhaps a little less?

If they sort the traffic and ped pop system they may ask for higher specs perhaps.

low spec 8GB

med 16 GB

Max 24 GB of RAM

Get a grip on reality. 12 GB will be enough for max if the game is optimised well, and that's mostly memory for vehicle and NPC density.

Unless you're using DDR2 lmao.

If GTA V will come for PC how GB of RAM will it need ?

Let's find out by the votes

I can understand you are going to get a PS3 but have a PC with 4 gb ram as you told me on FB. But sorry, my friend nowadays 7 -8 Gen games on PC require at least 8 GB of ram if u want max settings.

Lol, 1 and 1.5 GB RAM. Stop dreaming. tounge.gif

I guess that the minimum will be 3GB RAM (voted for it) to get playable frame rates at not high settings. f*ck the minimum that R* gives! With minimum they probably mean to be able to start that game at least. GTA SA needs at least 512MB of ram to un correct, and not ~384mb. "Maximum" should be at least 4GB RAM and above... the more the better the performance. That should be right like this.

I figure you'll probably be able to get away with 2GB under the minimum, but recommended will probably require 4GB. Either way, I've got 24GB so I'm good. tounge.gif

You really need 8GB now for modern games if you run them maxed out. No point having 4GB with 0.2GB or something left when GTA is running, you want a few GB headroom. So 8GB should be the recommended RAM. 4GB minimum.

Really man ? which was the latest modern game which needed more than 4 GB RAM ?

LA Noire on DirectX11

I could only guess the purpose of 24GB RAM, are you using RAM demanding video/3D, 2D application/audio editing software? I'm just curious, that's all.

Modern PCs usually have at least 4GB RAM and PCs from higher class so for example High-End PCs usually have 8GB RAM. If GTA V is large-adressed then it will use more than 2GB RAM. But then again I think it's not that important if the game is large-adressed or not because GTA IV is only adressed for 32Bit which means it only can use 2GB but a friend of mine has 8GB RAM on his PC and GTA IV uses more than 4GB. Probably the game was so terrible optimized that even the memory-adress of the game was f*cked up, lol. tounge.gif Anyway to be on the save site, 6GB RAM wouldn't be bad if you want to play the game maxed out.

There's really no point. All I do is play games. I originally bought a 12GB kit when I first built my X58 system, and it is more than enough for what I do, but the opportunity arose to purchase another 12GB kit for $20 so I figured why not.

Clearly, the ammount of flamewars, sh*tstorms and the ammount of idiotic people in the GTA V section is so high that Ryan's Quad-Core CPU can't process everything from alone so it's not possible at all to moderate the GTA V forum without having at least 24GB RAM.

Lol, now seriously it doesn't always have reasons to have so much RAM. Maybe he will use it in anytime in the future.

I have 16 GB, and I doubt I'll need more to play the game. The CPU and GPU on the other hand...

Still, I really doubt the game will require more than 4 GB, seeing as the console versions will be running fine on 512 MB

I feel 2GB for the very least -- they're going to optimize this sh*t, you know.

I've seen some of the posts for specs needed to run GTA V, and you people are f*cking blowing it. A GTX 460 for medium settings? Give me a break.

A better question would be how much GPU RAM will be necessary as the core hardware they are developing for hasn't significantly changed which leaves the use of higher resolution textures to clean up the image in the engine.

So, how much video RAM do YOU think it will need? I'd say at least 1024MB's for a basic, minimum experience. Goes wtihout saying that if you're playing new games 8GB's is the minimum amount in Nov 2012 to get a very good experience.
