Androyed
Let me start by saying that I would rather have a totally sunny map than a totally gritty map. GTA IV did overdo it. But in some ways, I liked the grittiness Liberty City had to offer. What's very important for me is atmosphere. I can like games as long as they have a great atmosphere, even if the gameplay sucks. Of course the gameplay of GTA V isn't going to suck. The story isn't. The graphics aren't. And the atmosphere neither. But I am hoping for a little bit of grittiness in Los Santos. Maybe in the slums. I have no idea how Los Angeles looks in real life though. What I want in Los Santos is contrasts. Between poor and rich. Between sunniness and grittiness. From what Rockstar tells us there is going to be quite a bit of contrast. Apparently that's what Los Angeles is about, and that's what makes it a fun city to base a fictional world on. Take a look at these videos of GTA IV myths: Ratman: Abandoned casino: Sprunk factory: Abandoned hospital: Even though all these "myths" are probably bullsh*t, you must admit that these areas are pretty creepy. Disturbing really. The hollow sound in the subways (a faint "whoooooooo"), that cracking sound in the Sprunk factory... I am really hoping for something like that in GTA V. To be clear, I am not talking about myths per se, but just about grittiness in general. Creepy allies. That sort of stuff.
TheWetPartoftheArm
Not really interested that much in grittiness, the best game in the series was Vice City and that was mostly sunny and colourful. We had enough of the grittiness in IV I think, a small amount of it should remain perhaps in certain missions depending on the area but I predict the game to be primarily scenic and beautiful. However, you can probably expect a lot of "myth" type stuff out in the wilderness and in the mountains, I wouldn't be one bit surprised if they included rare animals, bigfoot type creatures and other little easter eggs to discover up there, as well as under water. Mokrie Dela
I see no reason why we can't have grittiness and sunnyness. If done right, the contrast would work. I will say one thing - people complained that IV was too "grey" but did anyone actually try turning up the ingame saturation and brightness? I did once and my game looked really bright and colourful. Regarding myths, i want them to be careful. I don't want supernatural sh*t, like bigfoot or ghosts etc. MYsterious stuff, and realistic stuff, yeah. In SA i can't run around in Back o beyond much, because it's too creepy. In some ways it seems a waste of an area, but in others it's a remarkable bit of atmosphere. The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. Click here to view my Poetry
Androyed
I have never played San Andreas, but I looked up the Back o Beyond area... it's lovely! That's what I mean. I am hoping they make a gritty neighbourhood somewhere. It doesn't have to be supernatural. Just some creepy sounds, maybe crying. Your footsteps reechoing on the walls. That sort of stuff. 98 in 1
I hope that Rockstar makes the wilderness darker at night. In SA, the woods are still bright even when its 1 in the morning.
