Crumplet
Surely i'm not the only one on here amazed by how much R* listen to us, the community. People missed SA upon IV's release, they wanted color & not bloom, So they set GTAV in Los Santos and change the theme to very upbeat and vibrant. People wanted the 'gang-banger' character back, some wanted an older man, kind of like Tommy Vercetti, others just wanted a sociopath with no moral boundaries. So they give us three characters fitting every single most demanded persona. We wanted a larger map, they create the biggest map they've ever done. We wanted more guns, they create the largest arsenal in GTA history. I mean, god damn, GTAV is literally an outcome of them truly listening to their fans, it's the perfect fusion of old and 'new' school GTA and I have a feeling this will be a milestone for the series, a benchmark for games to come, possibly even for years. And though features such as property purchase and body building wont make a return, maybe it's time to realize that is SA specific and as such, should remain that way. I cannot freaking wait to see and hear more, even more so for the actual release! So basically, this is an appreciation thread for R* doing their fans justice. GRINCH ASS BITCH
I agree. It also seems like R*'s going in to this with a gamer's mindset, "what could I do to make this game as enjoyable as possible?" I'm sure they'd like to make a game that they would also enjoy playing. Sometimes I wonder if competing developers (like Volition) play Grand Theft Auto Also, where was it confirmed that V is going to have the largest arsenal in GTA history? Mister Pink
I wouldn't be so naiive to believe that. Rockstar are just doing what they want and what they believe fans will like. Even if fans don't think they'll like it, they probably end up liking it. They wouldn't do two consecutive games in with dark dreary themes or locations. III went to VC for example and that, I think was deliberate contrast. Bigger map? Inevitable. More guns? Ineveitable. Setting it in SoCal? Well, Houser said it's the best place to set a game in. 3 Characters? Hmm...probably giving in to fans a little but they wont take let fans take cred for it. They want to revoloutionize free-roam gaming. There's a danger of listening to the community. What the community wants isn't always best. You can listen to some ideas, maybe get inspiration from the community but if took everything from the community, you end up with Saints Row: The Third, a mess of a game that doesn't know what it is. GreatGig
It was mentioned in the GI article I believe, don't take my word for it though as I don't precisely remember where I read it. I'm pretty sure I read it there, too, so you're probably correct. Anyway, you're spot on with this. Rockstar has definitely paid attention to what we've had to say. They've taken our harsh criticisms and turned them into a product we're desperately seeking information on and even more desperate for it's release. I adored the level of detail they went into with IV but felt that they sort of got distracted by it and ended up convincing themselves it was some new "feature" and, whilst it was in some aspects and some fans, like myself, really appreciated it, there were others who just weren't satisfied. It's great to see they haven't sacrificed the detail in order to give us more. Instead, they've increased not only the detail but everything else that Los Santos has to offer. It's great to see this kind of positivity in here, too, so for that, I doff my cap to you @ Pink: 3 Characters? Hmm...probably giving in to fans a little but they wont take let fans take cred for it. They want to revoloutionize free-roam gaming. I actually think this was completely their own idea simply because they tried it out with IV and its DLC. They've always had new protagonists with each game and I think that, in the end, they wanted to expand on this and not just give a couple of multiple endings and some forms of free-will decision making, they wanted to go all out and create an intertwined story with varying endings and even more decision making (demonstrated by their random encounter system in RDR). I suppose you could say that the games they've made to date have essentially been a form of practice for them, refining the little things and expanding on the larger. There's a danger of listening to the community. What the community wants isn't always best. You can listen to some ideas, maybe get inspiration from the community but if took everything from the community, you end up with Saints Row: The Third, a mess of a game that doesn't know what it is. I couldn't agree more. Considering the GTA fanbase, I think it's obvious that they didn't listen to a majority of them simply because, like you say, you'd end up with some nonsensical mess. I do think they've listened to the more logical folk though. Those who have asked for things that fit in with the GTA worlds. Phil96
It's about time Rockstar paid attention to what their fans want. The gap was too long. But it gave them enough time to analyze demands and wishes of their fans. And Rockstar has made the best use of this. They world of GTA V may seem too hard as we don't expect every San Andreas to return but surely the GTA V world is gonna be bigger and good enough to cater to all our needs. We've seen many expected realistic features in the trailers already.

Ah, I'll reread it now. I remember them specifically stating that V would have the largest selection of vehicles of any GTA game, but I don't remember seeing anything like that about the weapons. EDIT: Just went through it, still can't find this quote. Can anyone transcribe it or tell me which page of the article it's on? Thanks in advance. freedom
Franklin is not a "gang-banger". He is a repo-man. Didn't you see the 2nd trailer? He berates his friend for "slinging dope & throwin' up gang signs"

GRINCH ASS BITCH
In the gallery under the red car screen, it says "to encourage players to explore this vast expanse, Rockstar is giving them more vehicles than any other Grand Theft Auto to date" ...I know that. It was also mentioned in GI. We're not talking about vehicles, we're talking about weapons.
a3HeadedMonkey
I agree with everything you said, except the part about owning property & safe houses. bluetops
They didn't add realistic steak so it isn't fully listening to their fans Oh, yeah. That post of ThePinkFloydSound, I agree with that. FranticFatality
Was it confirmed that there were more guns in GTAV than in the other GTA games? I didn't see anything about it. If it's true, that's great. What I hated most about GTAIV was the fact that the weapons were so generic and boring. The game was still great, but that annoyed me. Little William
Bullsh*t they listened to their fans. If they had listened, why the f*ck they left out properties and character customization in V? How can you spend your money without buying out the town and not having an empire? And what the f*ck with the idea with 3 protags? From the looks of it, this stupid 3 protags idea will actually restrict our freedom in gameplay because we will be forced to switch during missions. Good going Cockstar for listening to the fans :sarcastic: Character customization was left out because Rockstar claimed it would be too much work and wouldn't fit the characters. From what I've understood, you can choose if you want to continue with a character during a mission or switch to the next one. Properties isn't a big deal.
