30+ seconds to boot game, Steam overlay crash

Odd issue I've been having lately.

San Andreas has started to take upwards of 35 seconds just to

boot the initial game up, and it's becoming ridiculous. Coupled with that,

when I run the game with the Steam overlay, it generally just crashes

after opening it more than twice.

I don't understand what could possibly be going wrong... Anybody know?

What condition is your DVD (which version)?

Why do you 'need' a Steam overlay? Steam doesn't accept mods.

How many of what type Mods did you or someone else install?

What does your Anti-Virus program say?

What is your OS?

Are you using Modes?

You are running with ADMIN Privileges?

My DVD is in very good condition, however my copy of San Andreas is downgraded to 1.0 for SA-MP

I use my Steam overlay whilst I play SA-MP so I can keep in contact with my friends

I don't have any custom mods installed except for SA-MP

I use Avast Anti-Virus

I run Windows 7 Ultimate

Modes? Uhm..

Yes, I'm running with admin privileges

Downgrading does not make your game a version 1. All it does is remove the programming that prevents modding.

Have you checked for and shut down programs running in the background?

Oh well.. Uh..

I've checked for programs that could conflict, and honestly I haven't installed any new software

as of lately. I'm completely stumped as to how this has even happened, because there's been

absolutely no new changes to my PC that I know of.
