The WiiU is clearly more willing to show it's teeth, with launch titles like ZombieU and the upcoming system launch of Assassin's creed 3 nintendo seems eager to not fall into the same trap of kid friendly shovelware that turned the Wii from a promising new system into a Joke.

People said Chinatown Wars will do well on the Nintendo DS when it had an installed base of nearly 100 million at the time. It sold 70,000 units in the first month, and essentially failed to sell on that platform. Although I think what happened there was that the kind of people who would want to play GTA and own a DS got it pirated because it was already so easy at the time.

Still, was very surprising. Maybe the top-down perspective wasn't appealing to a newer generation of gamers? Probably.

So it should be interesting to see if GTA comes back to Nintendo. I think Rockstar will wait and see how many units are actually pushed before they make that developmental and business decision. They're likely to focus their efforts more on the PC version.

Unfortunately, it isn't Nintendo's decision as to whether GTA V gets developed for the Wii U, it is Rockstar's.

This is just wishful thinking from Nintendo's side, and developing a Wii U version of the game would be more challenging than they are used to due to control differences and such - and Rockstar would be risking a profit loss as, as has been stated above, the Wii U audience isn't really the audience that would buy or play a GTA game.

f*ck you, Ryder!

I know I will probably be hit by some facts, but R* may not come to it because of the tech on the Wii U.

So far, the technology revealed for it is starting to seem worse than the PS3's specs, at least the RAM is. Its transferring speed is 12.6 Gb a second, compared to the XBOX's 24.5GB a second, and PS3's 12.6 and 22.4 GB a second. Keep in mind, both systems have 512MB while the Wii U has 2gigs. Although this may be misleading in some cases, as DDR3-800, while it may be DDR3, 800 is slow. Like DDR2 slow.

It won't be a while until R* decides to release a game for the Wii U. Its technology onboard is just going to be too difficult to process at the moment.

The console won't sell enough for it to be considered a candidate, maybe when the next generation rolls around Nintendo ....

a mini map / inventory screen on the game pad would be cool;

but to me this really just smacks of "we wish wii games were anywhere near this cool"

Not a Nintendo hater, but I think Wii U already died less then 1 week after release, it was already cracked and this:

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2012...-last-light-dev

If a game like Metro have problems in this hardware imagine a beast like GTA.

It will be the same story as the Wii.

It looked fresh and new after the Xbox and PS2, but once the 360 and PS3 kicked in, it wasn't a big deal.

I think the story will be quite similar, but I'm feeling it will be even worse for the Wii U, since Wii had some good fresh games, but these were Nintendo exclusives and I don't see Nintendo making Hardcore games for the Wii U confused.gif .

I think the Cons far out way the Pros of porting GTA 5 to WII U. I will list some examples:

It is not smart to invest in an entirely new hardware and learn the mechanics, the drawbacks, and everything else, if the game has already been out for other systems. Maybe for the next GTA but not this one. Understand that we still don't know of the capabilities of WII U, can it withstand Open World Games filled with dynamic events and all that high tech stuff. What about the tech can it surpass current gen?

Another topic memory of WII U and can it withstand games that need 1 GB, i mean the standard comes with an 8 GB and the premium only 32, not to promising if you are going to create a game that demands a lot.

Like people before me said Rockstar and Take Two must think financially also is it wise to invest on a new hardware without knowing how successful it is?

The next GTA although will definitely be on WII U because Rockstar will be learning the specs of the new Xbox, Playstatioin and along that they can figure of the WII U also. So if I were you I would not get my hopes up.

Understand I am not bagging on the WII U, I wish it to be successful, and I might be interested in purchasing it, but after investing in the WII and not really using it, I am a bit skeptical about this.

Looks like EA may not be alone to make games DOA (dead on arrival). I was said that they are six years too late despite the graphics unit on the Wii U is from a year ago. I don't see a big deal. GTA on the game boy color, advance and DS? Then on the Wii U? I don't know... it's up to Danny Boy Houser to decide.

If Nintendo sincerely wanted games like GTA on their console, then they would take hobby gamers seriously. For right now, they're trying to appeal to the casual and "trendy" crowd. I'm not saying it's bad or anything; there's a market for that and they do a good job with it, but I doubt any triple A third party studios would take them seriously when they release hardware that can't compete with its peers.

One big question is whether next gen consoles even have a viable bsuiness model and how long it will take for the market (both hardware and game content) to reach their sweet spot. That process took a long time ( a few years) for the present gen consoles.

I assume that the old Wii became viable sooner, because it was released sooner, into a new family market, and they had early games that matched the Wii consoles' capabilities. Seems like Wii has always been a self-contained, separate market. I doubt that they can cross over now, unless they really make a serious effort to bring serious games to the Wii U very soon.

But who knows what Rockstar is thinking? Maybe the reason for the long development time on GTAV is that the Rockstar dev teams are right now feverishly working on a Max Payne 3 port for Wii U. biggrin.gif

Sorry, but it isn't Nintendo's decision as to whether GTA V will be developed for the Wii U or not, it is Rockstar's, and i think they are likely to focus their efforts more on the PC version.

Oh, and before somone accuses me of being a Sony fanboy because they are my favourite console manufacturer, i really like Nintendo too actually, but it isn't thier decision. confused.gif

I think that GTAV being associated with the Wii-U would lower its reputation and give it a bad name. I have nothing against Nintendo, but GTA has always been more geared towards the popular hardware; I doubt R* would risk the potential flop, if the Wii-U is still selling poorly by Spring 2013.

Plus, like I've mentioned, I don't like the idea of GTAV being an interactive experience -- it makes it seem... Gimmicky.

I'm guessing the Houser brothers will get paid by Reggie and Satoru if they do the Wii U version. Just sayin'.

I just can't understand the hatred towards Nintendo.

I think it is great they are after more serious games overall.

ZombieU looks fantastic and another bonus being a proper Survival Horror game & set in lovely London biggrin.gif

I hope it does come to the Wii U as could bring some intresting things to the game.

If I were R*, I'd say "Of course you can have it Reggie. Just pay for the cost of porting it, manufacturing, distribution & marketing costs and you can have it on your DOA console".
