It's pretty obvious at this point we can fly jets and helicopters, but there is no 100% confirmation that we can fly AIRPLANES. I think it's likely, though. Wait... but jets are airplanes (or aeroplanes at least). Doesn't one of the early shots show Franklin flying a piston-engined plane, a red one? Does that help?
