Unsolvable graphics issue - high end machine

Dear Forum Friends,

I love reading posts here and there are so many sickly smart people I thought someone might be able to help with an issue I'm having.

First, computer specs. I have the following system:

CPU - i7-2600 six cores

HDD - Intel Solid State Drive, 500 series

Graphics Card - GTX670 with 2GB VRAM

RAM - 8GB

Power - 500W

I am certainly not as much of a hardware/software pro as people here, but I've tried to soup up my system and make it perform for all the games I love.

With trees and water, I get really weird pixelation of the graphics, especially in evening scenes or where light is shining on them. Also, I get occasional pixelation and flaring in other parts of the game. I look at videos that people have in 1080p on their monitors and it just looks much, much sharper than what I'm seeing in my game.

My native monitor is a 1360x768 resolution. I have tried the game at every available resolution, however, and I still get this problem.

I am updated to the most recent NVIDIA drivers. I am 100% sure of this.

Also, the game autodetects my card weird and doesn't think it can handle the highest video settings. That being said, I have played with the settings and have tried every video setting from lowest to highest and that doesn't fix the problem either.

I can't imagine how the game tells me I should only run with medium and high textures - I have the second fastest commercially available video card with 2gb of VRAM, a fast processor and a solid state drive.

I also tried the console line edit to having no memory limitations on the game.

I appreciate any help as I have read up on and tried everything for almost a month to fix these issues.

I tried taking screenshots of the issue but all my screenshots come up black. I don't have these problems in other games, for example Skyrim or or Assassin's Creed III.

Thanks in advance!

I just wanted to add that another way of expressing my problem is I get "Flickering" textures. For example, when I'm driving a car really fast down a road, textures or objects will all of a sudden "pop" in and it doesn't look very natural. Also, sometimes, if I'm near a garage door the door will flicker in and out. Generally, the game looks good and works, but these texturing issues and pixelation issues in water, trees and in certain areas is noticeable and effects the enjoyment of game play

Hi - I also did a test on another monitor to verify that isn't the problem. Under doorways I get little thin white lines. I checked my video card for adequate power and cooling and everything is fine.

Any help appreciated.

Directx9 and video card drivers all are in good shape

Hi gang - I tried all these things and nothing worked.

I finally used fraps to get some screenshots. Please note the weird white lines, rough textures, water weirdness, tree weirdness and odd popping in of graphics. Keep in mind this is a system with a GTX 670 with 2GB VRAM, an i7-2600 six-core chip, 8gb of ram and a solid state drive. I don't understand why this is happening. I did a clean install of the video driver, clean install of directx. Any help is appreciated. These issues are weird and the game looks so good and smooth on the pc videos I look at on youtube.

Also, in general, the graphics I have seen on other systems and videos seem to be much, much smoother textures than this

What is the version of the game, did you patched it - 1.0.7.0 is the last one (1.1.2.1 the last one for EFLC).

It is 1.0.7.0. I downloaded it through steam and also confirmed this by going to properties in the main executable.

I honestly can see very little wrong with those screenshots. There is always some degree of popin and flickering. You could use a higher resolution, which would lessen the aliasing. Try enabling FXAA in 3D settings of Nvidia control panel. Apart from that, I assume you use the stock commandlines, -memrestrict xxxxxxxxx and -reservedapp 0. By the way, the i7 2600 has 4 cores, each with hyperthreading, not 6.

There is no doubt that GTA4 respond awful on high-end PC's, especially on video cards (no matter ATI or NVIDIA), just like San Andreas, on high-end PC's the game is awful.

@bsatvat: Try to update your Games for windows live, DirectX, net framework 3.5 ( if you are with win. 7 then net framework 4.0 or higher), I don't know what else to advise you. Whit this machine try Icehancer 2.1.

Really!? We must be looking through different eyes. My version looks very good in HD and at 4Ghz, not perfect but good enough for a very fluid experience.

I'm not so sure, but maybe you have some other internal videocard (intel or something) and because of this there is a conflict with IV.

Try to check about this (google it) and make your ati 7900 default for all apllications.

ED: Or make profil of IV in CCC (Catalyst control center).
