highdEsiGNEEE
Hi to all, I got a problem with GTA III, so I need your help, any response is welcome. Description : I play GTA III for a few minutes, ( 3-5 maximum ) and then the game crashes (blocked), as well as the computer, so I have to restart it, and sometimes it happens that the computer restarts automatically after playing the game for 3-5 minutes maximum, as I said. Also, I have never received an error message while playing the game :-?. The game is installed in driver (D:), where I have now 3,50 GB of space, so it can't be that a problem ( I mean I have a lot of space), but in driver (C:) I have approximately 20 of MB, could be that a problem? So, before, about 3-4 years ago, I played the game and it went good, no problems. Here's some information about my PC : XP Professional, SP2, AMD Athlon 64, processor 3000+, 1.80GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM. My anti-virus is expired, I think the pc is a little bit virused :-?, May be due to this? I've tried to compressed some gta III's files with IMGTool, hoping that I will solve the problem, but I didn't. I would like to know what should I do according to the game, instead of reinstalling the windows, and cleaning the PC from viruses? ( If I have to, obviously I will do that ). Should I defragment the drivers? ( D:, C: ) If you know a possible answer, please help me, your welcome . Th3MaN1
Well there sport, got a bit of a problem there. 1. 20 MB of space is incredibly low. Free up some space, you can download CCleaner which will simply delete any files which are not needed for you or your computer. Don't worry, it won't delete Windows files etc. 2. I'm surprised no one asked this, but did you buy the game or download it (torrent)? 3. Your PC may probably be virused, you should download AVG Antivirus. (To the right of the website you can choose which version you want, 32 or 64 bit, suit yourself.) 4. You said that the game worked 3-4 years ago. Back then, did you have the same copy you have now? Also, does the PC have some new components etc. compared to those 3-4 years? 5.Modding any file of the game can cause errors and instability. I can understand that the game crashed even before you compressed the files, but only mod the game unless you know and accept the risks. 6. Did you try reinstalling? Uninstall the game, after it's done go to the game's folder and delete any files that remain(if any) manually. 7. You should try defragmenting, BUT ONLY after you scanned your PC for viruses. I deleted some files, and now I have 6,00 GB in the (C:) driver, so I will re-install the game and see what happens. 2. I downloaded the torrent (Real GTA III) 3. I'm sure it is, and I guess that is the major problem because I also tried to play FIFA07, Call Of Duty 1 and it happend the same, I mean the game freezes, or the PC has restarted, also I have the AVG AntiVirus . 4. I'm not sure about that, but I recognized the images in the gta's main menu, so possibly is the same. According to the components, I didn't change something to my PC. 5. I just deleted the TXD.img and TXD.dir as it was said in the 'read-me' , because the game would be buggy. 6. I did that finally. 7. I'm gonna re-install the windows and eliminate all the viruses. I hope it will work , thanks to all for answers and advice Edited November 27, 2012 by highdEsiGNEEE
