Just got my new card installed and went strait onto Ballad of gay tony to check out the New average FPS compared to my old card. I went into the graphics window and was greated by this.

Does anyone know why it's doing this i assume that Either rockstar are not supporting this card yet or Its on ATI's side of things. Is there a way to get GTAIV to recognize the card by brute force?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

ah the old -norestrict line on the end of the shortcut sorted it!

Do you have switchable graphics?

Well two graphics chips in one computer. There are laptops (And the Sandy Bridge computers) with the integrated Intel? card and the other one and you can choose between the most powerful and the weakest one. GTA IV could possibly be conflicting while detecting the size.

Umm I know it's a sandy bridge but I dont beleive the i5 I have has an intergrated gpu. Im also not sure if the mobo has intergrated graphics onit. What I do know is I was running a asus 6850 directcu2 previously and that was detected fine. I also tried a sapphire 6850 2gb and that didn't have the issue either. Ive updated catalyist also to the current version and still has no effect.

How does one check the gpu side of things then?

Hmm then that could be just a GTA IV bug, to check if you have two you can always check the device manager but as it's a desktop it should have two monitor ports and the integrated gpu must be off.

Just move this topic to Z already. tounge.gif

Oyster post your system specs using speccy, most importantly the Motherboard and the CPU; to make sure if there's an Integrated GPU and whether the mobo supports switchable graphics or not.

Can't anyone read? He already solved it!

Yeah, but it would help if he finds out about the cause of the problem itself.

Well I did a search for the problem on google. And thats where the mem restrict thing popped up. Looks like im not the only one with this problem! Still not sure if it is rockstar that hasn't added card support for the current gen of cards or if ati hasn't added support for gtaiv yet.

Well, we all know GTA IV can't detect more than 2.7gb of vram so any card with a higher amount than that will require a -norestrictions commandline.

You can also make it use less vid mem, this will solve the problem too. i prefer this because than it stutters less.
