im going to use it for the first 10 missions or so then im going to turn it off unless the first 10 are already difficult. I want to make this game last and i've been playing SA after finally beating learning to fly and I like the no GPS, makes it fun and extends gameplay looking for the destination.

I found in IV, with the GPS, which I initially thought was a great feature, took away from immersion. It's clever in the sense on how it's programmed but I found it distracted me from:

A. Looking at the sights, soaking in the experience of driving around.

B. Learning the map.

Will you use it? I might switch it off, so I'm not constantly looking at the HUD but at a waypoint I set (the general direction I must go). Yes I will enter Cul-de-sacs/dead ends but at least I will learn and hopefully stumble upon interesting places and things a long the way.

That's actually a great way to learn the sites. I still have trouble in IV trying to drive around without the GPS sometimes blush.gif.

I will use GPS from time to time if I need to be somewhere fast... but only in the beginning. If I will have time then I gonna do without GPS... enjoying the city and finding own way. After some time I won't need GPS anyway because I will know the map better and know good routes.

Me personally, absolutely not, for me it took away from the nostalgic GTA norm of heading towards blips any which way you can (atleast for me)

This way you see more, because your looking at your surroundings more rather than the mini-map. I could never imagine playing a GTA whilst having the quickest route constantly on my map, even worse when some cars had Voice GPS aswell.

I know both features can easily be turned off, so it suits both crowds. Its an interesting feature no doubt, but in my eyes unnecessary and "un GTA"

I might. In IV, when I first explored my way around I was using the GPS and didn't really take it all in. Constantly, I was looking at the Radar. No doubt about it, I'll get lost in V without the GPS but I want that to happen on the first time I explore my way around.

GPS is a must, especially those timed missions. Ain't got time to learn the roads when I'm on the clock! SA and previous GTAs was easy to remember cuz the cities were not THAT detailed, no street looked the same and always had some unique landmark. I still get lost with IV and I had the game for 4 years! It's because the streets were so congested and detailed everything looked the same! Hell outside of star junction, Algonquin was a bitch to remember!

No, I barely used it in IV, so I don't see myself using it in V if it's included. I'd prefer driving my own way to my destination rather than being told which way to go. Even when I did use the GPS, I still found myself not following the route it tried to take me.

I;m just going to use if for things outside of missions. Like if I want to check out a leisure activity, I'll just go to the map and set up GPS. But I generally don't follow it to closely.

Same, I set up the GPS but go on my own, incase there's a dead end or I can't seem to get to my location (cause it's underground etc). I follow the GPS route.

Null Vote. I willl set it to Blips Only like I did in IV. That way I don't miss the city because I'm constantly staring at the map, but at the same time I don't get hopelessly lost.

True, I didnt learn the map until after I beat the game but I'd use the GPS only for missions because I always was in a rush to unlock the whole map. In V the map is already open so I wont have to rush nearly as much.

Definitely leave it off. I don't think I once memorised Liberty city, following the GPS was too easy but also distracting as I wasn't looking at the road ahead. Time to go back old-school! smile.gif

I think it would be cool if it was available in some cars. I think it'd be pretty interesting if I went back into the IV campaign, and only turned on the GPS when I went into cars like the Washington or a Limo.

I will use the GPS until I learn my way around the place.

Same here, Los Santos will be huge, i must learn the map first before i turn it off, otherwise it would take too much time getting to mission locations alone.

never remember/learn the road in gta .

rely much on gps - press t to zoom out , then tune some radio , accident , mission failed , alt+f4 . confused.gif

I will def turn off the gps. I really didn't learn the map for IV very well and the gps played a part

I will use the GPS mostly, but I decided that one of the first things I will do probably a few days into the game will turn the GPS off and simply drive around, just drive admiring the scenery and looking for cool things.

I voted for undecided mainly because on one hand I completely agree that it hindered the learning process and on the other hand the scale of V might mean that getting from A to B without the GPS could take forever.

I think that I'll probably give it a go without the GPS at first and see how things go. I hate to admit this but I still have to use it with IV sometimes simply because I don't know where I'm going sometimes. I've stared at the GPS so much that I know exactly what the map looks like from the birds-eye-view perspective, but driving along and recognising landmarks is something I find impossible (although there are some places where this doesn't apply). I still know the maps of III, VC, and SA and can find my way easily from one place to another and I really hope to get that with V so I think disabling the GPS until I really need it is how I'll go about its use.

Totally man. I was the same with IV. Well, I know the map much better now but I remember realising this on my second playthrough..I was like..hang on..what am I doing? I'm staring at this GPS thing and not looking out for landmarks. I think reading a preview for Just Cause 2 made me realise this. They put arrows on the road in front of you so you are not lucking at the HUD all the time. Good thinking but I also don't like seeing big fake arrows and I'm sure Rockstar doesn't like putting in these things either.

No GPS. EVER. Takes away the fun of getting to know your way around the map.

I don't agree, I think that it helps to know your way in the map.

You get into the map, you don't know anything. The GPS shows you the routes you can take to don't miss a bridge or whatever.

I always used GPS in IV, and I know the maps very well, the GPS is only a tool.

Personally I don't use the GPS. I know Vice City and San Andreas's maps by heart and GPS was "babying" me through the map.

I'd love 5 if there is GPS and a feature to turn it off.

I voted undecided, because I know that for the first week or two I will use it, but when I get used to the map, I will stop using it and take in the sights.

Some tools breed dependence for some people, as GPS often does in real life (I have some friends that can't get around their own home towns without it).

As for GTA, I still use the map as a regular reference (especially the first couple playthroughs). It's like going on a road trip. Sure, you can use a GPS, but isn't it more fun and engaging to navigate for yourself as you go along?
