Excellent film, if rather graphic. American Yakuza is ok. It has Vigo Mortenson in it. Really though you're chapping for western yakuza films. Crying Freeman starring Mark Dacascos is definitely worth a look though. Check out Miike Takashi and Takeshi Kitano films. Miike Takashi churns out a lot of films but they're all generally quite good, with some being really good. He did kind of a trilogy of Yakuza films. Rainy Dog was one I think. I can't remember the others off hand. I prefer Takeshi Kitano films personally. They're more interesting to me. In fact his most recent film Outrage released on DVD/Blu-Ray over here is a Yakuza film and it's quite good. If you're willing to stretch your criteria a little you should check out Johnnie To movies. He's a great Hong-Kong director similar to John Woo. His Election trilogy of triad films are excellent. Then you should check out Kim Jee-woon's film A Bittersweet Life. EDIT: OK so that trilogy of Miike Takashi Yakuza films I was talking about. I think it's Shinjuku Triad Society, Rainy Dog and Ley Lines. He did more Yakuza films such as Gozu aswell. EDIT: After reading the OP. I wanted to see some films for myself. Graveyard of Honour keeps popping up as fan favourites. Takeshi Miike did a remake. Based on a real dude as well. Ryda King Posted November 21, 2012 Share Posted November 21, 2012 It's not really a movie but check out the Gangland episode on the Yakuza. It's like a documentary on them. Has some interviews with some real Yakuza and what they're about, what they do, how powerful they are and how vicious and dangerous they can be. I think it's about an hour long or so. And yeah, check out Ichi The Killer and a few other movies by Takeshi Mike. I think he made the movie based on the Yakuza game series too. Check those out also. If you want a game that has amazing stories, incredibly investing characters and kick-ass action and fighting, check out the Yakuza series. 1, 2, 3 and 4. 5 is coming out in Japan in December. I think he made the movie based on the Yakuza game series too. He did. It's called "Like a Dragon". And if you have any sense you'll avoid it like plague. It's sh*t.
