Zee
Rockstar have already confirmed that pedestrians will be programmed to go about their daily lives rather than just aimlessly drive around, this is already so much more advanced than what we had before. You don't mind if I quote this 6 months from now do you? Lol Zee don't tell me I have to re-read all of the previews just to find you this quote. Obviously I would highly doubt that this is true to the extent they're claiming but I would assume that certain peds will be programmed to drive to random workplaces. They have already integrated the random events from RDR and there will be a lot more of the random characters to meet on the streets. Could just be another one of these comments from Rockstar that is hyped a bit more than is needed and we don't even notice it in the game. Like somebody else pointed out, the police pull over pedestrians breaking the law in IV and take them to Alderney State Correctional Facility. It's not that hard to believe that they could apply this same idea of AI to other pedestrians. So, for instance, you see a gardener go to somebodies house and they go into the garden. Even if there were only 10 different types of ped programmed to do this kind of thing it would add an extra dimension and direction to V. So, I take that as yes I can quote you in six months from now, that peds will have AI where they leave the house drive in a car to work work all day then drive home, correct? Algonquin Assassin
Eh what are you trying to prove Zee? Are you going to laugh in his face if he's wrong? Sounds mature.
cp1dell
Eh what are you trying to prove Zee? Are you going to laugh in his face if he's wrong? Sounds mature. Oh no! Not Zee! He only replies with mature, non-idiotic posts! Heavens to Betsy, why would you say such a thing? Whether he turns out to be right or wrong, you're still going to claim he was wrong and troll him. I don't see the point.
LBYN
Going back to the point that Miamivicecity made, would you rather see the realistic amount of traffic and people and have the game run like sh*t, or toned back and have the game run beautifully (with the occasional hiccup, no one's perfect)? It reminds me of a quote by Ben Franklin, having to do with liberties and safety, which we can draw parallels from that to this: "If we continue to give up liberties for safety, we will lose both." So the parrallel of that would be: "If we continue to give up (or for lack of a better word, ignore)processing limitations for realism, we will lose both." This is the basic bottom line. But I'm not well-rounded in the technical side of gaming and systems, so you can rip into this theory all you want.
moKoE_LoCz
They definitely will need to fix the amount of cars on the freeway. Cuz it ain't LA without traffic. Everyday. Starting at 4:00pm!
