Liberty2k7 Posted November 20, 2012 Share Posted November 20, 2012 (edited) Back in August, Rockstar posted a couple of screenshots on the Newswire with potential leisure activities. Now with all the previews and the new trailer recently, I thought it would be a good idea to look at the leisure activities that have been confirmed so far and also start a discussion about what people would like to see in V. Edit: Even more previews and the three new character trailers now released. Rockstar remaining quite tight lipped on activities at the minute. Dirt Biking From this screenshot we can see that dirt bike races are going to be a feature in V. This is a no-brainer in my opinion, with such vast terrain and mountains included, this is going to be a lot of fun! Tennis Well, we now know that the screenshot below is of Michael's mansion so presumably, we'll be able to play tennis from the beginning of the game. People always complain about this being GTA and there not being much of a need for so many mini-games, but I for one am really looking forward to this one. If you ever played Rockstar Presents Table Tennis you will understand why! That game is a great example of how good Rockstar actually are as a games production company, as they can make something as simple as a table tennis game stick out as something so special. Basejumping A welcome return for this feature from TBOGT, I'm guessing pretty much everybody enjoyed jumping off buildings and parachuting to the ground. It's pretty self explanatory but at the same time enjoyable. The problem with Liberty City being the size it was, the base jumps weren't that spread out around the city. I think we can expect to see some more interesting ones in V with the amount of bridges and mountains outside of the City, not to mention the huge buildings we can jump from! Golf I have a really good feeling about the Golf mini-game in V. I don't know about everyone else, but I used to love running over people in a golf caddy at the Leaf Links in Vice City, but part of me always wished we could actually have a crack at playing a round of 18 there! In IV we had the little shooting range but I feel that this feature is going to be brilliant. Not exactly Tiger Woods but I'm sure I'll spend a good bit of time on the greens in V. Yoga This sounds like a strange addition, probably will fit Michael's middle-aged, mid-life crisis personality perfectly though. I'm Interested to see how this functions but I'm sure it will probably be fairly simple. Seems like a cool little thing to add personally and if you don't like it, you won't be constantly forced to play it. I will definately give this a go anyway! Jet skiing In my opinion, this sounds like a really fun activity that we can do in V. We were able to jet ski in GTA Vice City Stories and I have been dying to see this return ever since. I hope there is are races, this would just be great! Triathlon Triathlons make a welcome return in V. I used to love the "Beat The Cock!" Triathlon in San Andreas! I'm sure that Rockstar will give us an enduring Triathlon challenge in V that will be a lot of fun. Actually might even work quite well as a little Multiplayer addition! Who knows! Hiking Not really a confirmed activity but we see people hiking in Trailer 1. In IGN's getting to know Los Santos article, they stated that Rockstar hasn’t officially confirmed what we’ll find in them thar hills, but if the intention is to create an eco-system that fits with its surroundings then venturing out into the outback with nothing more than hiking boots and a backpack could land you in hot water. I don't know if this is confirmation of hiking but it would make sense we would need special equipment to climb certain parts of Mount Chiliad and other mountainous terrain. If Rockstar involed certain objectives with hiking, ie collecting different items (maybe something similar to collecting herbs in RDR) this could end up being a really cool activity to do. Scuba Diving Supposedly, the availability of scuba gear will be limited, appearing only in some boats. One could assume that more often than not boats will have the gear. Exactly how much money we can make from diving the briney depths of the ocean floor for buried treasure is unclear, stated as just 'greasing the wheels', but it should definitely be worth our while! We will also face the challenge of other divers attempting to get the booty before us! Sounds like a very interesting feature providing a lot of replayability. 100% will be tough to achieve, that is for sure. Tour bus rides We are now able to take one of the infamous bus tours of LS, being taken on a journey to view the homes of the games fictional movie stars. With plenty of room for classic Rockstar humour, undoubtedly this will be a fun activity. Sadly I don't have a screenshot showing this activity as there hasn't been one released yet, so instead here is a quote from the CVG preview confirming this activity. Tourist buses are parked up (which, if you climb aboard, can give you a tour of Vinewood's celebrity homes) Strip Clubs/Lap Dances From Franklin's trailer and a recently released screenshot of Trevor, it seems Strip Clubs are set to reappear for V, which is unsurprising considering they have been in every major GTA title since Vice City in some form. Everyone prepare for some pixelated fleshy fun. Night Clubs/Clubbing This recent screenshot has given proof that Bahama Mamas nightclub from The Ballad of Gay Tony will be returning as Bahama Mamas West. The level of interaction with clubs is still yet to be confirmed, but after TBOGT I'm sure there will be drinking and dancing mini-games. While Franklin toasts with a bottle of $500 crystal (purchased with newly acquired heist cash) surrounded by vacuous wannabes in Bahama Mamas, Trevor will be in a ditch somewhere on meth and Michael will be beating up his life-coach Other Suggestions and Possibilities As far as I know, these are the only confirmed activities that we can take part in in V, but I'm sure there will be a lot more. I would expect Pool, Darts, Drinking and Bowling (but no more constant phonecalls from Roman!) to return from IV, along with a few new ones. As for new activities that haven't been confirmed yet, I think we could expect big things from Rockstar. Hunting in the wilderness is supposedly in as well but it is not clear if this will be an activity or just something we can do free roam (falls into the same category as killing pedestrians so I have left this without its own section). However, we are told there are many animals including deer and wildcats, as well as sharks, so we will all definitely have an interesting time in the wilderness. Also, the new previews revealed that they saw NPC's fishing (maybe a possible activity). Going to the Gym should be in as a strength skill has been confirmed. That's only a few suggestions, everyone else please pitch in some ideas here as there are so many possibilites so I'd love to hear everybody else's suggestions. Good point that one slipped my mind haha. I did a bit of research but I felt like I'd definately missed a few out! Edit: Just added the Triathlon to the list. In GTA:SA there were only a handful of bars - but the interiors of them were identical no matter which one you entered. GTA IV only had one bar - and it was the only place to play pool. 2). Fuel for vehicles. Adding to the in-game economy, this would not only be realistic - it would also add tension to the missions, as you might run out of gas if you drive for too long - or even be low on gas during a high-speed chase and have to make a quick decision on what to do next when you run out of gas. 3). Being able to eat. Even though it doesn't affect your characters, it would still give you something to do just for the fun of it. Haha that'd be brilliant. Rockstar said that we will have unique activities to do with each protagonist so this could be a real possibility with Franklin and Chop. As well, I didn't like the way in IV we couldn't actually drink with Niko, he just entered the bar and came out drunk. We should have lots of bar interiors and we choose how much our character drinks. Maybe even choose what our character drinks. I guess this could depend on what kind of bar we are at, I.E. a seedy bar we'd have a bottle of logger or pisswasser, an expensive, flashy bar we'd have a glass of wine or a cocktail and in a club we could drink shots/champagne (depending on the type of club!). We definately need more places to play pool as well! I loved this activity but there weren't enough places to play it. Would be really cool to play it in some run down biker bar on the outskirts of Los Santos! Maybe even get in trouble with the locals haha. Yeah I want to see more places to eat as well. Especially when we are on our own. I don't imagine Michael eating Cluckin Bell, Burger Shot or Up-N-Atom burger, not every time he needs to eat anyways. I definately want more choices when it comes to food. I know this is a little detail but diners and fast food places were not really enough. Edit. Whoops, sorry for the double post! My bad. That was a really neat touch in GTA: SA and I would love to see it return in GTA V. They could put a few arcade cabinets in the different bars and maybe even have a full fledged arcade with many games [maybe downtown or beachside]. Bars need to have pool, darts [electronic dartboards please, i.e. Arachnid Bar Boards and not cork and metal tips. those are a little too old-world this day and age], being able to drink like RDR, the ability to smoke and maybe even cards or other drinking games. Arcade games should definately return! Would be funny if Rockstar put a version of GTA III on our iFruit as an easter egg, don't see this being possible though, just would be really cool! We have TV with programmes so a home console with a few games would definately be fun as well. In the Codename RUSH casting calls Albert De Silva (presumably Michael) had a son called Kevin who was described as " Albert's fat, FPS playing gamer son. Smokes a lot of weed, has anxiety issues and a card for a bad back, very soft, very opinionated. Into making racist comments while playing online". Sounds a little bit like Michaels son James. Anyways, if he has a console in Michaels mansion we might be able to play it! You never know. Drinking games sound like a really fun idea. Imagine beer pong in V! That'd be really good imo. I think I read somewhere that it's possible to rob a money transport car. Can't remember where I found this though. Anyone who knows more? Edit: Forgot the SecuriCars in GTAIV. Indeed they would throw money on the street if you blew them up I think. Going to look for more info on this, I swear I read something interesting about robberies. And the Triathlon should be fun! On the gtav.net website it states that "Variety of races included; cars, bikes, triathlons." I would assume that the dirtbike races would be similar to those found at the bottom of Mount Chiliad in San Andreas. There is a little bit of speculation here but I think they will definately be in it as an activity rather than a mission. There is so much terrain to cover that Rockstar have to use it for this! Yeah hopefully there are quad races as well this would be really cool! I can just imagine Trevor being a lot better with the quads than Michael and Franklin, saying as he is used to the countryside and he is on a quad in his artwork! I'd love to try this as well, I mean, we're in the GTA version of LA. What is California without surfing?! Definately would love to see this! That surf shop potentially looks like you can buy stuff from it but who knows, could just be clothes if anything. Would be awesome if we could go there and start a surfing mini-game. More likely to speak to some surfers on the beach or something if this feature was in it. Either that or we could ring a friend and ask them to go surfing/they'd ring us. It would be cool to have pick up games in the ghetto playgrounds, especially against gang members, with a rowdy crowd watching. Every once in a while you could see an argument between peds in the background, or even a 40 ounce beer bottle landing in the middle of the basketball court while you were playing. Maybe it could be like one of Franklin's unique activities, or whenever you are walking through the 'hood as Franklin guys playing B'ball could call you over and ask if you want your ass kicked haha. Sort of like the random encounters in RDR, I think this could work really well. Rockstar would just need to get the system worked out properly, because lets face it, Basketball in SA sucked lol. I think with Mt Chiliad (and possibly more mountain ranges as speculated by users of this forum) it would be epic to get to the top and jump off in style, you also could try and navigate highrise buildings in the city with it.
