humansteak
Hi there, thank you for reading. I recently decided to start a new project, something I never did before, that's why I'm now asking this. Is this possible to import loads of models and place it like they're in game? Like copy/paste-ing the positions. I've been searching around for tutorials, guides, or helps, but didn't find anything. I want to import the whole street, mod it, and export it object by object. Maybe I could use .IPL files, or something, I'm sure it's possible, gonna search in sticky threads too. Thank you. Celestail
I do this in ZMod (import/export multiable objects), so it should be possible in 3DS too but when you come to export the models move them center of the scene, thats what i do Edited November 20, 2012 by Celestail
humansteak
ZMod? Heard of it a few times, but I've always been on 3DSmax, I don't think that would be good to change now? And yep, you need to set the pos to 0.0 before exporting, same for cols.
Celestail
Zmodeler is another 3D modeling software like 3DS Max, but the good thing about ZMod is it's designed for games like SA
humansteak
Hm. I might try it later then. And you said using ZModeler, I can import IPLs and place objects correctly? Like.. Mod a street and export it object by object?
Celestail
You can import/export Dff files (GTA SA) IPL files are not models
humansteak
Yes, I know IPL are not models, lol, but IPLs are files which contains the objects x y and z positions ingame.
Celestail
All you have to do i move the objects into position (as the look in the game) modify them and once your ready to export them move them back to the position they was when you imported them, the IPL coordinates are not needed in 3D modeling (Well not for ZMod) Edited November 24, 2012 by Celestail
humansteak
Yes they are for what I want to do, even if it's possible doing it your way too.

AB0333
Well, if I understood you well, you're trying to place your objects in 3ds max scene at same positions they are ingame. If so - since 3ds max's coordinates match the ingame ones, simply copy your object's coordinates from map editor/.ipl file to 3ds max, and the object will be on same place as it is ingame. And if you want to import whole IPL at once, here's how.
